      @@Championhelmets - The Shoei excelled and I was expecting it having owned HJC RPHA 10 onwards series, AGV Pista and Arai IOM TT RX7 (2013) the only I haven’t owned was the Shoei. Had briefly borrowed X14 from my friend and found it to be an excellent helmet.

      @@theaveragebiker.i Shoei have definitely done an excellent job on the X-Spirit 3 with it's great performance on the road and eye for detail. It certainly came out on top compared to the helmets you mentioned, and only the Bell was able to come close to the X-Spirit, which did surprise us.

    I have worn the Agv, Bell, Shoei and Arai on this list and for me the Arai was just brilliant... it was the most comfortable helmet of the lot for everyday riding and i could just feel its pure quality shining through compared to others on this list and many other helmet brands that I have worn over the years.

      Thanks for letting us know how you found the helmet! Arai helmets are all handmade, which is one aspect of the helmet that always shows through in their quality construction and comfort.

    Quite an impressive review, indeed! One thing I am searching for is a "view angle" as one goes into forward lean. I have two helmets, both with different field of view, but searching specifically for a helmet, I can almost put chin on the tank, and still see enough forward.. cheers

    Safety ranking should be the most important category. Maybe that would make the Bell Flex Star Flex DLX win, with its Snell verification! Would like to see you guys including a safety rating next time :)

    Again, great way and great result of comparing data for the best helmet. I swear pista is super loud, I don't get it why people use it as daily helmet when there's corsa or any other helmet which is better.
    Oh and maybe if you could add more point for "long term use" for the next comparison data. Hence in my experience there's a lot of flaw when it comes for long term use for each helmets.
    Example, HJC RPHA 11 prone for having peeling/flaking synthetic leather part. Shoei X14 crown pad being super easy crumbled when get mosited from sweat

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the suggestion! We'll have to look into how longevity could be measured, though this may be difficult since most helmets should be replaced after 3-5 years. The Pista was definitely a loud helmet, and while this is standard for a track helmet, it makes it less suited for daily commutes.
      Besides durability, how have you found the helmets we tested out?

    Impressive review guys! Love the data approach. What is the difference between the bell pro star end the race star?

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  3 роки тому

      The main difference between the Pro Star and Race Star is that the Pro Star has been FIM certified and is composed of Textreme carbon fiber, for an even lighter weight. Besides this, both helmets use the Flex liner system and bring the same set of features.

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, it is posible to fit the RX-7V Racing spoiler (Arai calls it their Diffuser Extension) onto the normal RX-7V. However, since it uses adhesive for mounting, you can only place it on one helmet.

    Cool review good explanation.What helmet would work best for a more longer oval fit?

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  3 роки тому

      Though race helmets tend towards an intermediate to long oval fit, the best round option would be the Arai. The RX-7V uses a highly adjustable liner with additional peel away pads, which will give you the best set of options. Nonetheless, the best option is to always try the helmet on (if possible) in a local store to make sure you have the proper fit.
      Thanks for the question!

    • @brandonhindmarsh4353

      Interesting Lidpicker.com indicated the Arai (US model Corsair X) measured more oval than round. ?Although I hear manufacturers molds differ for various markets? I also see your point about the adjustability peel off liners provides in the Arai. Wish all manufacturers provided this. It's standard in bicycle helmets.

      @ItsBeenDanBefore 3 роки тому +1

      FIM is only for the top tier of racing, so the FIM leagues like MotoGP, Moto3, FIM Supermoto, ETC. It's dependant on what country you're in if you can use a certain helmet on track. For example, in the UK, we have the ACU Gold certification to say a helmet can be used on track. Best thing to do would be to contact your most frequented/local track and ask

  • @wee8ndrew
    @wee8ndrew 3 роки тому +3

    You guys make great contents. However, I find the scoring system massively flawed. Based on your analogy, ride with NO HELMET at all and the score will be 5 stars in your WEIGHT, VENTILATION and COMFORT category. So that will get a 2.5 stars overall average. AND no helmet means zero dollars, as such that will be the best value for money?? The SAFETY of a HELMET should be the most important criteria of all, safety deserves more attention than any of your categories. Based on your equation, if you were give the ARAI say, 25 stars for safety, then your ranking will make logical sense.

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  3 роки тому +1

      Of course, safety is the first and foremost purpose of a helmet, and we do hope to someday include this in our rankings. In fact, we do already take some of the helmet's safety into account by considering additional homologations, emergency quick release, and extra safety (such as Bell's Flex or Arai's unique shell shape) in our features category. In addition to this, aspects of the helmet such as weight, comfort, noise, and ventilation also have an impact on safety since they also affect fatigue.
