So this is my attempt at trying to darken my hair with coffee! perhaps it works better of newly cleaned hair mine was 2nd day. or perhaps my hair was just to dark. idk but i defenitly did see a diffrence in the shine my hair had.

You looked like you were in so much pain brushing your hair! I use a tangle teezer to brush out my hair, they don't hurt you and they are LITERALLY a life saver!
Best way is to do it in the shower and completely rinse your hair with it several times, like stick your head in a bowl of coffee, then rinse with water and condition as usual. That way it really absorbs the color.
you have to do it everytime you wash your hair its like that tanning moisturizer you apply in every so often and it gives you it gradually Xx

Don't brush your hair when it's wet it breaks it. Use a wide tooth comb.
You should not use hair brush, just use the flat comb

I am a guy, i have short hair with a lot of white hair ... my hair grows super fast.
i want to dye my hair in brown ...
if i do as the lady does ... after 1 week, i'll have a 3 mm hair in white and the rest in dark. (my hair is 1,5 cm at it's longest) ... i cut faster than the 1,5 cm.
i am looking for a good solution with shampoo (something i coold simply dye my hair once a week). ... if someone has a suggestion ... you will be soooooo welcomed.

Same. I was like dang she must be tender headed something serious. I totally know what she means about it frizzing if she brushes it cause of the curls. Shame I didn't realize my hair went from straight suddenly at 12 or 13 years old and I always brushed my hair and had funky frizzy hair. I realized after high school if I put stuff in it while it was wet and scrunched it I HAVE RINGLETS. totally random fact about my life just kinda started typing it then I had to commit. Hahaha

i know this was a long time ago, but i have to say, use a wide tooth comb. using a brush breaks hairs. especially curly hair.
Honestly i think it really depends on your hair! i think the lighter your hair is the better it will work! but its not gonna be much diffrence unless you do it over and over again and yes it takes a lot of time but it is a lot healthier for your hair! and if the coffee dosent work for you you can use a very dark colored tea. you do it the same way!
This coffee lover is happy you did it naturally. I tried this, but, I put in, cocoa and coconut oil warm. and left it in for 2hrs, rinsed, conditioned, straightened, it was soft and the color took in very nicely. Left it in for 2 weeks and it held up. Downside, it washed off on my second wash. I will do it again because it has no chemicals or harsh abrasives going into my body that will not only damage the hair, but, will also make me sick. Heads-up, I also have done Honey Rosemary rinse, separate from this concoction, LOL, and it does make the hair darker. It just needs to be done more often to get the color desired, that's all, no biggie. Keep trying young lady you are doing GREAT!!

Hi Katie. I use the used coffee grounds with little water to make it a paste. Dabbed it in to the scalp. Leave for 15 mins or more. Rinse with just water.

I TRIED IT ! did not do too much, but then i got that recipe when u do espresso with lemon/vinegar and cocoa oil,
it does a job! they much darker but need to be coffee resin !

I did a different method than you...I did 1/2 cup of conditioner and 4 tablespoons of coffee grounds and mixed it together and then applied it all to my hair and kept it on there for only about 20 minutes, because I was afraid of it turning out too dark. I actually think it darkened it some, even in the short amount of time I did it. My husband thinks it turned out darker too. I also was going over some blonde and lighter brown highlights. It seemed to make it look less hightlighty and looks less bizarre to me. I wasn't too crazy about how my highlights turned out and was hoping to darken it up some. =)

This is actually really good for your hair :) I read several times that it can help with hair growth too ♥ I've been using it and it gives my hair the most beautiful shine! I have also noticed that it is growing faster, healthier and thicker :-D ♥ Love this ! Keep doing it ;)
You need freshly clean damp hair and ground coffee beans, not instant coffee.

has she tried henna? You could also go the route of black walnut hull powder and steeping that in water and letting her hair soak in it to cover grays.

I've watch a couple of video's and everyone I've seen doing this has a lighter shade of hair than I do, I'm sort of curious if anyone with a naturally darker shade of brown hair has tried this and how much darker you can go.
Does it work for black hair and to what color it will turn? How long does it last? Parmanent or temporary?
You can't go any darker then black so trying to dye your hair darker with coffee would be pointless and a waste of time

Why last bit of video looks like a scene from horror movie
If you combine an all natural conditioner with the coffee it works better. Mix well... Add less water when brewing to make it stronger. If you spray it on it won't saturate your hair.
I think what happens when dying your hair naturally is people except a similar result to the salon or bottle. Thats never going to happen. You will get a slight natural tint that looks good, but thats its. Lowering the expectations is key.

Thank you, I like your video, I did try, I mixed olive oil, coconut oil and very dark coffee... left it overnight. 2 shades darker but still letting some blonde ends and white hair show (early white hair!). It did make my hair shinier and stronger though, the texture even got a little straighter...
should have put the coffee in a bowl and dipped your hair in the coffee thats how ive tried it

Oh my gosh, are those curls natural? They are SO pretty😊 My hair isn't perfectly straight, it just wont curl for anything
It's a gradual process it takes months it's not meant to dye your hair it's meant to add depth to color

Jasmine Armenta the coffee tints the hair color as well as lighter highlights. I have dark brown hair with red and gold highlights. Coffee made my hair very dark brown with burgundy and light brown, but some of the gold still lived! Very pretty results ahha
