I just found it on eBay for US$6. I don't know if it's an inferior Chinese copy of the original Chinese camera but it's worth the try.

Hi Mike I’m still having trouble finding the location of the photos and videos my camera motion sensors there’s no place for a folder that I can view the images I just get a clip art image of a living room with a play button I push play and it says not downloaded do you have any advice greatly appreciated Tom
Where are you browsing from the phone/tablet or via the microsd from a PC? from the mi home app, go into the camera you want to view and see the live view. then click the play button with the circle around it that will show you all the times with footage in time order click on the time and then you can scrub through the time line.

Great video! I have an older Yi camera (using the Mi Home app also) but in the app the app itself is English, but when I click into the camera itself it is all Chinese with the Chinese time hard coded into the video. Is it the same with these newer versions of cameras before I buy one or is it English with the correct UK time shown on the video itself? Thanks

the video in the app has the time line to scroll through and is correct to UK time. The hardcoded time in the video if played back on external source is mainland china time (that's +7hrs I think)
As the product is only supposed to be sold in mainland china it would seem that there is no way of changing it until it is officially released here.
There are a few custom firmware options available that give the unit an English voice etc. Maybe you could discuss this with the coders an see if it is something they can work on?

Hi Izz, i just tried mine and it seems to work fine. My app version is 5.1.19,what region are you in? and what region do you have the app set to? maybe try updating your app from in the app rather than the play store? Let us know how you get on.

Does it have parts of footage using an sd and delete the last part to record the latest one and keeps looping like that?
Yes it does it in small chunks so it can overwrite the oldest files with the latest.
Love your review. Can you help me with this problem? I am wondering how do I watch the captured video. It sends me notifications but when I click to open the video it has a standard image of a modern living room and I push play and nothing plays.
I'm not sure about from the notifications, but from the app I go to the camera I want to view, wait for it to connect, press the circle button with the play button in the middle, then the "select the time" view comes up in hourly chunks. the select the time and scrub on the timeline on the bottom. This seems to work perfectly for me.
I just turned on the motion alarm and it sent the notification to my phone, which I clicked then it said "alarm video download" and won't download. I can see footage if I press record, but the notification videos won't download or play? There is a new version of the MI Home app version 5.1.9 xxxx I will try that and see if anything changes.
I don't normally use the motion alarm feature so thanks for the heads up! Something else to make a video about :-)
Actually it seems like a common problem at the moment, something to do with the Chinese servers. Will keep an eye on it and update if any news.
I can get notifications I click on them and it brings me to an image of a bitmap image of a livingroom not mine. Its a static image. There is a play button in the center I push that and it just says 0%

What are the odd that it looks just like the wyze cam pan, hmmm. I wonder if it work with alexa and IFTTT like the wyzecam pan.
Of someone can get the wysecam firmware then it should function the same as it is the same hardware just with different firmware installed. If you look at the rest of their range they are all Xiaomi designs. Just more expensive 😀
can you only view and control the camera from within the same wifi router? if i go to the grocery and I have mobile data on, can I connect still to the Mi app and view the footage live?
Yes you can watch the camera from any internet connection 3g 4g wifi etc. You connect to the app and the app connects to your home broadband. This is the primary function of these cameras to allow remote access to your home so you can keep on eye on things whilst away.

The infrared should go through the glass but without testing it myself I couldn't be totally sure. I'll try it tonight and get back to you. What if any lighting do you have in the same room and outside. I'll try and replicate the same sort of setup.

No just on the SD card, but is buffered through the cloud and you can gain remote access to footage on the card via the cloud in the app.

What do you get on the SD card? Anything at all?. I set mine to record on motion detection then set back to auto and it works fine

They seem to get regular updates so worth checking what updates they get. Although I have three of these cameras now so I have to manually update them all. 1st world problems!
Hello, I have a 64gb micro sd card, can I use it for this camera?
I honestly have never tried such a large card. I donr see any reason why not as long as the card is formatted during setup. Let us know if it works. This information will be useful to other Dafang owners.
Mike loved the Reviews on the Cam -- I have tried many times now to get it working but i keep getting a Time out message each time.. has anyone got any ideas on what could be wrong..thanks
Thanks for watching and commenting. A few questions if I may? What have you set your installation region to? If it was anything other than mainland china, it will never connect. This may be the problem? You can set your locale to London or whatever later in the app, but the installation zone must be mainland (it's also in Chinese, which doesn't help)
Hopefully removing the app and re-installing with China as the region you will get past the time out message.

You have got to make sure your logged in as a Chinese region.

Yes and also if the WiFi name contains any characters that are not normal letters or numbers that will prevent the connection
Hi. Do we get motion detection notification to our phone ?
Not sure yet still trying to get to grips with the interface (it's mostly in Chinese) I am planning a follow up video that goes into all the details so keep an eye out for it.
Just checked and yes it has a toggle to turn the motion alarm on or off. when turned on the app gives a notification in the tray of my Android phone and when clicked on you can view the recorded footage (it records in 60 second bursts) hope this helps you to make a decision on buying one.

+Riyaz Hanis just getting to grips with this camera and I have to say it's amazing! The footage is stunning and the features just keep getting better. I have done two firmware updates and the camera streams better and is much more responsive to triggers in the movement areas. Best £22 I have spent in a long time

Yes yo can set it to continuous recording and it will erase the oldest file when you run out of space. The length of recording time will be determined by the recording quality and MicroSD card capacity. Hope this helps.

Hi Olivia, thanks for joining the conversation. I personally use 8gb cards, but they can run out quickly if you have continuous recording. I now have mine set only to record when movement is detected. This saves a lot of room and stops the camera overheating or getting warm. It also will depend what type of periods you leave the house. If you are away during the week then it might be worth investing in a larger card in case you need to review footage from earlier in the week. I have three of these cameras so 3 32gb cards would be quite expensive. If you only have one then the cost would be worthwhile. Hope this helps

Hi I was able to set it up in my phone and it’s already working but when I tried to access it through my iPad, it Won’t work. I can see my xiaomi device is online but when I click it, it says device not initialized. Do you know how to fix this problem ? Tnx
I don't have any experience of the Xiaomi app on iOS devices but normally is seems you just need to update the app when this happens. Do you have the lastest version?
And don't forget when you first install the app, tell it you are in mainland China! Very important !
Does it works outside your home wifi ? Does it have dynamic ip configuration ?
Hi it works without WiFi if you have an SD card installed and will carry on recording but you won't get any notifications until you get WiFi back. And it is dynamic IP

Do you mean in a browser? Im not sure about that as I think you need to access the cameras from the app. Although I Would think you could use bluestacks or something to emulate it?

That is a good question, i have had three users at the same time. In theory there shouldn't be a limit as you are accessing the feed from the servers rather than the camera itself, so you are only limited to the bandwidth available to and from the server.
So it is just like accessing a website. How many users are you thinking of having?
If you are thinking for a company use and have all employees having access this may be possible. Interesting question.
Is this waterproof?
Sadly no it isn't. That is the one feature it doesn't have.
Can we increase frame per sec rate?
Not that I'm aware of. But I'll take another look and update this thread if I find anything

There is a tripod mount on the base so you could make a mounting from a thread or something similar. Although due to the camera rotating careful planning of the fixture would be advised.

The camera is only good if you hacked it to work as a RTSP camera if you don't live in China. "International users" cannot connect to the camera and are told to send a "complant email" to feedback@hualaikeji.com with their proof of purchase and camera's MAC address. But it seems no one responds to the emails. They must go into a rubbish bin or is deliberately ignored. Even if you got it to work, the server is rather slow compared to many sub-£20 PTZ IP cameras. Xiaomi products are relatively "cheap" but the after-sales is abysmal, especially for UK users.
Hi, I recently bought a xiaomi dafang and i managed to set it up. it was working for 5 mins and a message came up asking me to "request for international user" by sending an email to feedback@hualaikeji.com.
the message says i have to send the MAC number of the device and proof of payment.
the message keeps coming up when i'm trying to view from the camera.
my region is set at mainland china. anyone knows how can i get it working?
Sounds like someone has flashed the firmware with a custom ROM. Is it a brand new device or second hand / used?

these little cameras were very popular
It's a good cheap camera and having the function of PTZ at that price which is 1080P is very good value. I do like the new Hive camera but they want a lot of money for it and compared to it's first camera where you could use a micro sd card the new one doesn't and they want you to pay extra for storage which it's a flat out turn off. Check out my channel if you like and always happy for more subscribers :)

Do not get these cameras and waste time. This camera sucks with the hack too. They drop out. I am reducing resolution to 640x 368 not running full HD still the frames drop and video stream not available every 2-3 minutes. There are cheaper cameras coming out with P2P, RTSP and Blueiris supported out of the box.
. I have 2 Dafang and1 xiaofang. All hacked but the RTSP stream drops every few minutes. This is discussed in many places so if you plan to use with something like BlueIris do not get them. I have spent countless hours to get this fix. I will be selling these on ebay (installing original firmware again) and getting cheaper Xmeye cameras that are compatible with BI and RTSP out of the box so no hacks nor SD cards required.
I have 6 ICsee app compatible bulb cameras (almost 1/2 price of Dafang) and a forscam camera and they work great and no drop outs. Do not waste time with Dafangs

My honest advise...dont buy any XIAOMI CAMERA. from setting up alone it keeps giving problems. just got it for 1 hour , i returnED it back to the shop.
get canary flex or other europe or Some US product. Dont waste your time using xiaomi, yes its cheap, but its not usable, and its so complex yet using cheap technology. but if you wana waste your money away. please do so, and lemme know if im wrong hahahahaha
Thanks for the input. I have three of these cameras now and for my personal setup they work fine. The biggest problem with these is setting up the link when not in mainland China. If you set your account up with that in mind, there is no problem. I have had mine for around 6 months or more and they have worked flawlessly. The notification triggers work the recordings are clear and high definition. The audio is also surprisingly good considering the wide area of the rooms.
Sorry to hear that you had problems with them. I'm considering starting a forum to discuss these issues and hopefully resolve them. What do you think? Would that be helpful?
