I completely agree with you. Zenith is known for El Primero, but this brand has a lot of another incredible watches to offer. Mido instead is so underrated: great quality for a very reasonable price. Probably my next watch will be a Baroncelli III Big Date with the new Caliber 80. It's an incredible watch!
I have 4 mido watches 2 Baroncelli Chronometers including the rare Baroncelli Jubilee Chronometer. He says mido are affordable but they also have high end watches that are amazing most of their watches start at $900 dollars so when he says affordable lol they are not cheap.
Mido makes amazing watches in my country india we love mido. In the states we have flex culture but india we apreciate all brands equally hence why mido is very popular.
Very informative. I was looking for a dress watch and wanted something different but with some heritage. After doing a lot of research I settled on the Mido Baroncelli Heritage III that you showcased in this video. It is well made and finely finished, has actual blued hands (heat treated steel), is extremely thin and has an ETA movement that is beautifully decorated and runs about 3 seconds a day fast, very impressive. One of my favorite watches. Thanks for giving Mido the recognition they deserve.
Here in Mexico Mido is as ubiquitous as Bulova or Timex is in the States, unfortunately not well regarded; some models, especially the old gold plated “commander” is associated with low members of bureaucracy as well as low key politicians or corrupt policemen called “judiciales” that once existed in Mexico City, because it was a cheap blingy watch...also they are sold EVERYWHERE, so they, undeservedly, are frowned upon by watch enthusiasts here, the stigma is hard to remove, even though it is a very very good brand!
It's what I said: Mido is sold everywhere and we all know someone who has one. Maybe the collectors or enthusiasts do not appreciate them very much, big mistake, but the average Mexican buys them very well; I grew up seeing Midos everywhere.
Mido is beloved in india almost as much as rado . The people who wear mido in india are the upper and elite class. See in america we have something called flex culture . Thats why every two bit rapper buys a rolex not because he apreciates it but because its concidered a flex hence why im so turned off by the brand. Mido is not a cheap brand their cheapest watch is.$900 bucks i have 4 mido watches everywhere i go those watches get noticed. Every single watch brand had tacky cheap gold plated watches back in the day including some of the major flex brands. Mido deserves the respect it has earned but until these influencers and reviewers put respect on their name the mass apeal wont be their.
I agree on Zenith. The downside is they really tank on resale so if you get one for a steal I say go for it. Mido is a good brand. Very popular in Europe and not so much in the states.
I just bought a Baroncelli Heritage III. I came across your video and absolutely loved the way it looked. I’ve been in the market for my first watch for about a week and after looking into the specs of this watch, I knew I had to get one. I had been researching several watch brands and figuring out what I was looking for in a watch and when you put that photo up, I knew it was the one. That feeling was then bolstered heavily when I started looking at independent reviews of this watch and its movement. Thank you so much for the great recommendation.
Muhle Glashutte is a really great brand also. They modify their movements with a woodpecker neck regulation, blued screws and Mühle Rotor. Great value for the money if bought at a good price.
Great video as always, Federico. Now that you're in south Florida, did you notice that a Mido boutique is about to open in the Aventura Mall? There are signs with pictures of the watches and pointing out that the brand turns 100 years old this year. It looks like they're trying to ramp up brand recognition stateside.
I had the baroncelli 3. The white version has blued hands and screws in the movement, 6.95mm overall thickness, the hands themselves have two finishes split down the middle (polished and sand blasted). One of the most bang for buck watches I've ever had including seiko, tissot, hamilton, and microbrands.
I think one of my new favorite, and possibly grail watches that I recently discovered is the Mido Commander Daydate with a salmon dial. Its simply put, one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen in my life.
I like the Zenith shown, and you were the one who opened my eyes to the appreciation of Zenith watches. Although many of the watches you feature are beyond my price range (as yet!), I quite enjoy your channel.
Hey Federico! What do you think about the Tissot Ballade cosc? I’m thinking about buying it because it offers a lot for the price ( just under 1000E). Do you have any other suggestions at that price point?
Federico what is your take on Ball watches? They have released their first in house movement, which does uses some outsourced parts but still can be called in house. Thanks
Bought now as a Daily Watch a Mido Ocean Star 200C in Blue, and damm it's look so great that i sold my very similar Looking Omeaga Seamaster 300M in Blue. The helium Escape Button was so annoying on the 300m and i do not need two Watches with the quire similar Design. Yes an Omega is a beauty, but it can't outperform a 4 times cheaper Mido Ocean Star 200C.
Fred, another pertinent review...I still own a rose gold Zenith Dual Time Elite..bellisima... I bought it new 15 years ago,I love it.... l like the Mido Baroncelli...hmm I will check it out. Thank you.
Thanks, interesting! By the way, the Petrodvorets Watch Factory / Raketa in St. Petersburg, Russia also makes hairsprings. Not only for their own in-house movements but for some Swiss watch factories. I don't know if Vostok or other Russian (in-house movement) companies also makes hairsprings. The Petrodvorets Factory was established by tsar Peter the Great year 1721. In addition to making jewelry of highest exclusive grade, they later made jewels for various watch brands. After WW2 they also produced watches under several brand names. Since 1962 all their watches was branded Raketa and they still are. The same watch factory made "Raketa Monumental" a couple years ago -worlds largest clock movement. It's 8 meter clocks, 13 meters pendulum and the movements weight is 5000 kg.! You'll find it in Detsky Mir, Moscow. The clock and also the other technology around it is impressive! :)
I think you should consider doing watch review videos for your special Delray Watch pieces like Steve Hallock does with his watches from his online store. I think it might make for some interesting content!
Hi Federico, I enjoyed a few of your videos. Ive been slowly learning more about watches. But after seeing some of your videos. I can see how intricate, cool and passionate watches really are. I have a very minimal collection. It would be unbelievable if you could give me advice on my current collection and watches that I can save up for that would be good additions !
Now Fed, we need to get this out the way. The Time Teller is either your kid or a clone. I stumbled on his Ocean Crawler video ( And then subbed) and he goes past "favoring" you. ...That being typed, Excellent vid as always 😬
Hi Federico I like your videos. I am a type of person that appreciate simplicity, elegance, good materials, and accuracy. For those qualifications, do you think Mido better than Rado? Thanks
You cannot go wrong with El Primero chronos at around $4K-4.5K. The Breitlings with the in house B01 and derivatives are probably the best Navitimers ever but they start around $6ks (gray market prices)
I think it is hard to justify the Elite series around $3k when you can get into an El Primero for a $1000 or $1500 more (grey market prices). El Primero is definitively on my radar but after getting my Rolex fix fulfilled with my latest purchase I'm now lusting after a Navitimer Rattrapante!
DEAL: Mido Ocean Star Commander w/ free-sprung *ETA* 80-hour movement & ratcheting clasp. Mine is the bronzish-colored titanium that looks *really* good with a suntan. Dollar for dollar it beats the crap out of every Seiko diver.
Fun fact: Mido sells the most COSC certified watches after Rolex, Omega and Breitling.
I completely agree with you. Zenith is known for El Primero, but this brand has a lot of another incredible watches to offer.

Mido sells very well here in Mexico, is one of the best known brands in the country.
Really? I did not know that Oscar. Here it is very much an after thought.

@@qazifaisal5 I love the 1959 Commander with its monocoque case

Mido has a best movement and looks
Especially the multifort special Edition
Beautiful watch and build like a tank
I saw recently a Mido Commander Datoday from the 60s. Great vintage dress watch and very affordable.

Great vid Fed! Can you make a video of underrated Swiss brands? And what do you think about Roamer and Claude Bernard?
Great vid, appreciate your takes! No dog in this fight, I kinda feel Oris is underappreciated.
Great video as always, Federico. Now that you're in south Florida, did you notice that a Mido boutique is about to open in the Aventura Mall? Love my mido multifort! Beautiful dressy, sporty, versatile and high quality piece. Totally reccomended!
Hey Federico!
What do you think about the Tissot Ballade cosc? I’m thinking about buying it because it offers a lot for the price ( just under 1000E). Do you have any other suggestions at that price point?
H Moser & Cie are making some absolutely stunnig watches. At a premium of course, but damn they are good looking!
I love the reverso. Simple and timeless.
Federico what is your take on Ball watches? They have released their first in house movement, which does uses some outsourced parts but still can be called in house. Thanks

I have also a Mido, especcially for the ETA drive and the beautyful calmly design.

Have a Mido commander on the way. Rado falls into this same category I believe, the Diastar makes a fantastic dress watch.
Zenith has some killer pilots watches too. Like the flyback and the type 20 i think is the name of the other ?
Interesting!! Good to know that most famous Daytonas have Zenith movements. Thank you for sharing you points of view. Gracias.
I have the Mido Baroncelli that you featured on this video. It's an impressively thin dress watch that is very versatile in my opinion.
Is the ETA reliable??? And what abt servicing cost??
Fed! Best UA-cam vids along with the Time Teller! Hopefully I can buy something from your watch store soon. Best of luck with your shop brother!
Thanks so much for the support brother. Much appreciated.

The recent big date watches from Mido are super cool. I'm trying to get my hands on one.
I am in love with my Mido Ocean Star :D
Hi Federico
I like your videos.
I am a type of person that appreciate simplicity, elegance, good materials, and accuracy.
For those qualifications, do you think Mido better than Rado?
Thanks
Yes, Mido>Rado
Hey fed ! I was thinking of a Zenith elpermero with the Open see through escapement or a Breitling NAvatimer , what do you think?
. I know but when you’re half blind and trying to type when you’re driving that’s what you get LOL 😂
You cannot go wrong with El Primero chronos at around $4K-4.5K. The Breitlings with the in house B01 and derivatives are probably the best Navitimers ever but they start around $6ks (gray market prices)
Mido is great! I have one but want more.
You are a genuine watch enthusiast, I envy you!
the mido commander has proven a well running well fitting watch with 70 hr reserve very nice
Hey Federico
What is your opinion on the Maurice Lacroix Aikon automatic from 2018?
Fed, Seiko makes their own hair spring too.
I can never catch it - what's the name of the brand mentioned at 2:19?
Kari Voutilainen
Thank you! This is the 3rd time I've tried to sound it out, I probably should have just asked earlier, ha
H. Moser is really hot right now. Not only it’s becoming scarcer at retail, it’s getting more and more difficult to get any discount.
Zenith is amazing.
Question: are there glashütte brands that aren't great? I can't think of a brand that breaks the idea of glashütte = quality + incredible value
Generally most are awesome.
Good choices!
Great video but Seiko make everything
Is Cartier calibre a good watch
What is your take on Victorinox?
Fed , from what year is the JLC, I want it lol...
its modern. We don't know an exact year.
DEAL: Mido Ocean Star Commander w/ free-sprung *ETA* 80-hour movement & ratcheting clasp. Mine is the bronzish-colored titanium that looks *really* good with a suntan. Dollar for dollar it beats the crap out of every Seiko diver.
PS - there's a specific Zenith that you recommended a LONG time ago that I will not mention the model because I'm shopping for one now, bigtime.
Knew Mido was gonna be on this list.
I think they deserve it lol
@@FedericoTalksWatches I do too man. Don't own one yet, but have handled a few, and the quality is above the price point IMO.
Underappreciated?
Try the all in house Vostok Amphipia!
What is the name of the intro song?
Mido or certina ?
Mido. Certina is nice but the Mido offers extra things not seen in other watches in the same price.
Seagull should be paid more attention.
Rado
Moser is a bit expencive. !! But beautiful. Discount? 40.000 dollar
Fortis?
Debatable in my opinion. They are also guilty of making some real crap.
H moser is really expensive federico 🤕
Not for what they offer
Jlc?
