I think the Vega coffee feat is underrated. The man just invented an instant instant coffee in less than 3 minutes.
Last chapter he said brewing a coffee would take 10 minutes and he wouldn't have time to drink it. 3 minutes later he's sipping on his newest invention.

the gorosei are truly EOS bosses. they get to egghead, transform right away, without wasting a breath go after the pacifista and the frontier dome, and attack luffy. there's no comments, no standoff, no jokes. they get straight to being toxic. they aren't just old men sitting in chairs, they're legitimately deadly combatants, especially nusjoro and mars. 1000/10 chapter

@@Umakiang They aren't done here obviously, but many people think and still believe that BB and his crew are the real final antagonists, the WG is just the fake out main antagonist for BB. Not saying the WG isn't an important antagonist, they are the most important antagonists at this point, especially for the world and lore, just that BB is set up to be the proper final antagonist of the series overall.
The sand worm is a Mongolian Death Worm, it's the mythological inspiration for the Dune Sandworms as well

Skele horse is 100% my favourite design. The pale horseman vibes are amazing, tied with Brook's underworld ice powers and the summoning circle from Namakura Island - there's some theories here.
I wanna see Brook riding him lmao, just some circumstance at some point, maybe not even this arc but another, where he ends up getting knocked into the air and falls on to his back and begins bronco/bull riding the skeletal horse demon while it looks back annoyed.

For me an added fear-factor is that the gorosei do not speak a single word throughout the whole chapter. They are killing machines on a mission and they know what they are doing.

I think Brook being nonchalant about almost dying shows how much he trusts in his crew, he wasn't easygoing just because he's a goofy skeleton but he just knew it'd be fine

@@giwrgospetrou1159he isnt a centaur though, he is a skeletal horse which is a yokai in Japanese folklore. and sure there might be similar creatures in other countries but that doesnt mean that they are those when we already have the names of them, making it pretty clear that these are Japanese and Chinese creatures, counting out the sandworm
Saturn and Mars are Roman names though. Edit: Ju Peter I guess is Jupiter too, Warcury is Mercury, and I haven’t a clue what that last one is in relation to tbh. But the point is that they are named after the Roman God Pantheon, which is the Greek Pantheon just in a different language.
@@EvOxDrama V. Nus(juro) = Venus-juro. There are some significant differences between the Roman and Greek pantheons and how the gods were interpreted, but i doubt any of them are relevant here.

Something to note as well is the story of Nika and joy boy is probably a lot more personal to the giants. Since their life spans are so long the events of the void century just as well could have been told to them by parents/grandparents that were there.
If there's something working in Dorry and Broggy's favor towards survival it's that it looked like two unamed giants were accompanying them that could become the red shirts of the landing party.
I loved the callback to little garden when luffy first met the giants because one cut the head off the dinosaur that ate him, same thing with the sand worm at the end
Man that undead horse design was already my favorite, and then it turned into a samurai ghandi centaur channeling the cold from hel?? Jeez, what a great design for a final boss.
The most disturbing thing in the chapter is seeing the office were the 5 elders are always is empty. Some of the plots happens there
right! oda probably didn't show us that room for no reason it's likely that something happens in that room & things eventually will change up because of it!

Something tells me that after they get back from Egghead they are going to find that Blackbeards crew did something while posing as Saturn. And something tells me that while the gorosei can summon the others, they can’t teleport back to the holy land and have to go back the old fashion way

The zoro lucci fight was just a plot device to keep zoro in the labophoase, hence why it seemed to drag on for longer than it should have

Egghead keeps hitting points where we think “yeah it could end here” and just keeps getting more and more insane
On the Zoro topic, I try to remember the manga production cycle is like the old chapter-a-week pulp stories. They may have a plan, but they still need to fill chapters and panels and make up stuff as they go along. I imagine part of this is taking characters not central to the plot and putting them in situations that you can resolve later when it is relevant, a bit like moving a piece in the early game of chess -- you don't always know how it'll pay off.
And sometimes there are minor fumbles. In this case, they thought it would be a good idea to show how Zoro is progressing compared to Luffy by having him fight someone that only Luffy could handle many hundreds of chapters ago. Having Zoro fight with a handicap was a good idea, because they can choose, based on the pacing of the main story, if they need to draw the fight out or end it immediately. Now they get to this chapter, they break it down, and now they *know* it is time for the 5 Elders two page spread, they realize everyone needs to be dragged along. It wouldn't make sense to end the fight off-panel, so just give just enough panels to make it look cool and pay off the set up, and then move on.
Given the production cycle, I think this was handled extraordinarily well. Also, it kept Zoro from wandering off and making it more difficult to get everyone together.

It just makes for frustrating characterization because Zoro is trying to fight fair against an enemy that's not returning the favour and they are pretty much on opposite ends of a war. Don't screw around in life or death situations, don't endanger your crew needlessly.

Y'know, I love the amount of references there are to futuristic settings in this arc. With Luffy looking a lot like Astro Boy in cover of volume 106, to the lightsabers and whatnot. But what I really appreciate is just how subtle Oda was with how the sandworm eating Luffy is very similar to how Han and Leia were nearly eaten by a very large worm in the same way during Episode 5 of Star Wars. Just with less giants severing its head afterwards...

The sandworm has me thinking of "Dune" quite a bit... and I could go into the books and the god emperor being half-worm and the symbolism behind agriculture guy being shai-halud and all that... but instead all I'll say is I hope Luffy rides him at some point.

The Itsumade is fascinating. It's like an embodiment of the "lamentation of the dead" that hangs around battlefields and feeds on loss. It's like the personification of the line "Why are we still here... just to suffer?"

Egghead went from what looks to be a fun chill arc with some lore to oh fuck we're actually fighting the 5 elders and they're insane.
3:23 Fengxi was drawn with two sets of tusks in its mouth, perhaps we could see a second head inside the first one, or perhaps they’ll eventually split
Given how that St. Ju Peter stands out amongst the Gorosei as a sandworm remember back in the Library of Ohara we saw an map of space we saw one of the moons with a chunk missing I believe that Ju Peter is an alien from that moon & hid in that bit of the moon and was ejected and landed on the world of One Piece.
I love the fact that Oda isn't circle jerking us around, like having each of the gorusei members for individual arcs in the story, this is the true stakes of where we are currently and the tension is reaching a boiling point so its more logical to just call them all there at once to snuff out the problem especially considering the threat VP poses to the world. Its perfect and its what i would expect given the dire immportance of the situation.
There is something being mentioned left and right, and its very convincing concidering the way Oda does things
The Elders transformations are presented as Kumo Kumo no Mi, Model: Gyuki (Spider Spider Fruit Model Gyuki), they are presented simply as the creatutes themselves, Gyuki, etc.
I love Ju Peter as the odd one out there. Like you got super cool giant monsters there in order: Gyuki, Itsumade, Fengxi, Bakotsu.....and worm.

50 years later
A group of young boys and girls were playing pirates on an island. Suddenly one of the boys stop.
"Hey, you guys hear that?"
"Hear what?" says another kid from the group.
"Shhhh...listen"
They all pause and listen. They hear a faint but clear violin echoing from the top of a hill near the shore. It is a familiar tune that Pirates used to sing long ago.
"C'mon let's go!" says the first boy and everyone else starts running towards the direction where the music was coming from.
They finally reach the top of the cliff and they find a tall skeleton with an afro sitting alone and playing violin in front of some tombstones. The kids walk towards him when they saw the tombstones clearly. There were no names.
Upon looking closer, they saw there were some items placed on each on the individual tombstones.
One had three swords, one had books, one had a long slingshot, one had a metallic rod, and so on.
The kids came quietly and stood behind the skeleton who was sitting in front of a tombstone which was bigger than the others and placed right at the center.
That tombstone was also unmarked but there was an old straw-hat on top of it with a jolly roger of a skull and cross-bones with the skull wearing a straw hat.
One of the kids who a bit older than the others, gasps.
"Mugiwara no Luffy..." he mumbles.
The skeleton stops playing and turns around.
"Oh hello there" the skeleton speaks with a gentle tone raising his hat with his hand to greet them.
"Did you know him? The P...Pirate King?" gasps the kid.
The skeleton becomes silent for a few seconds and lets out a gentle yohoho.
"Yes, he was my Captain" smiles the skeleton.
All of them gasps astonished. Their eyes widen and smiles.
"Did you really sail with the Pirate King!?" one of them exclaims.
"Well of course I did little one, I was blessed with the honor to be the ship musician because every pirate crew needs music you see!"
"What were they like? The Pirate King and his crew?" exclaims another, all excited.
"Oh where to begin! Well for starters, our shipwright was an eccentric yet brilliant cyborg who only ever drank cola. Our archeologist was a young lady who was troubled by her past yet found friendship with all of us. Our ship’s doctor was a tiny raccoon-dog, reindeer fellow. The marksman of the ship was a coward, but also noble and good-hearted. Our navigator was a foxy young woman with a nasty habit of stealing. The cook was a hothead and constantly tried to one-up with our first mate, who became the World's Greatest Swordsman and...."
"And the captain? The Pirate King?!" interrupts the older kid.
"Our Captain was the glue that held us all together, or should I say the rubber band? Yohoho! He was a spirit as free as the breeze that filled our sails and pushed all of us from the East Blue to the Grand Line, and on to Raftel where he found the One Piece."
A gentle wind blew across the cliff tousling their hair. They were all speechless.
"And if I were to say any more, I would say they were my family, and I miss them very much" smiles the skeleton.
Suddenly they hear a sound coming from the ocean. The kind of sound whales make. The kids looked from the edge of the cliff and saw a huge whale with scars all over its forehead crests, and shooting water through its blowhole.
The skeleton looks at the kids and laughs.
"Yohoho! How about a song? This one is Laboon's favorite
In Zoro's, and Oda's, defense, Zoro's birthday is 11/11, so he's probably gonna go ham in that chapter.

I want dorry and broggy to ask luffy who one their fight because they mention that their god would choose who won (by who wins but still) also pretty sure one of them mentioned a bunch of other gods when we first met them in little garden amongst those being the god of rain which you just reminded me of. Guess just some more stuff for theory fodder
IIRC they specifically said their God of War, also named Elbaf, would judge the fight, not Nika.
My theory with Zoro is that he isn’t 100% healed from Wano. He literally met the grim reaper knocking on deaths door and just like after Thriller Bark, Zoro was exhausted and could barely stand. I think he is going through something similar but since the characters are a lot stronger, he can deal with the pain better but isn’t at his best right now.
Zoro being injured hasnt been implied at all though. We are at the end of an arc , by now we would have already been told if Zoro was still hurt from a previous arc. Oda has done it at every other part pre-timeskip when Zoro has been hurt. Plus I think people arent realizing just how much time he has had to heal , the strawhats have never had that much time after an arc to chill and relax (Its been like more than 2 weeks)
If he's really injured then drawing out the fight by not giving as much as he can would be really stupid.

1. Bakotsu (I just love the hybrid form so much, and the full beast form is really cool too.)
2. Itsumade (I love the bird so much too, its definitely a close second. Depending on its hybrid form it might take the first spot from Ethan.)
3. Gyuki (Spiders are just cool, and we've seen the most from him so far.)
4. Sand Wyrm (In terms of craziest this one is definitely my no. 1, it just looks so weird.)
5. Hoki (The tamest design of the bunch, just looks like a boar. He also didn't do anything this chapter, so need to see more from him too.)
Overall, depending on what we see in the coming chapters with how they hybrid forms look and how they each fight the list is definitely subject to change.

I love the horse design because it reminds me of Vaal Hazak from Monster Hunter. Solely because of that, it ranks #1 for me. Bird, Worm, Boar, Spider after that.

Merphy, did you notice that the Elders’ info boxes don’t say they have Devil Fruits? For example, Markus Mars is simply called “Itsumade,” not “Mythical Zoan, Bird Type-Model Itsumade.” This could imply that these ARE the Elders’ true forms, and their human shapes are just a disguise, not the other way around.
Nearly everyone is still in denial for them being actually demon than being mythical zoan devils.

One thing about Zoro in this chapter. He never responds to Sanji at all, but he reacts to hearing him call him a liability. What if he just knew how serious Sanji was being and actually realized that he WAS being a liability by toying with Lucci. Like you said Zoro likes to make it more even so it's more of a challenge, but this may have made him realize it's not the time for it. Also that last panel looks like he used conqueror's haki with black lightning right?
I think the point of zoro fighting lucci for a while was intentional by oda because you don't want zoro wondering around by himself on egg head considering his sense of direction

I don't know man-- 'Worm' is a transformation with some chesthair. Being granted the ability to become a worm, is like being given the name Sue-- you know the guy's gotta be tough, because he's unironically willing to become a worm during the fight.
It’s something you see a lot in One Piece, but especially with the Gorosei, then being HUGE really helps sell just how scary and dangerous they are.
It wast that Saturn was outmatched, but he was not going to be able to do everything in time to get rid of Vegapunks message and if he reamined alone (because clearly Kizaru is doing the least he can only enough to not be reprimended) at least some of the people of the island would probably escape.
Knowing Oda, the boar thing will have a second head on its but or inside its mouth or something.
My absolute favorite form is the cat because cats
But if you are asking about the chapter then a skeletal undead horse that seeks revenge because he deid burning? Of course that one is my favorite 😂
Second is the worm because what the hell? A worm should have been so uncool and unremarkable but look at him, he is just so COOL then comes the bird just because it looks AWESOME in your tumbnail then saturn because he lost his charm next to others and then the boar because even with saturn here that we know of for some time he still managed to be less interesting 😂
