Thanks very much for your reply! So it looks like with my channel 5 two position switch gear switch I can run general as3x on 0 and hover assist on 2, but can change to standard on 1, and torque on 2 by reprogramming through the sticks. I can live with that! Thanks again.

Yup, you can still use 0 and 2. I would still buy this without those assist modes-they are cool but the fun is flying the plane! :) Have fun with it!

LHS has the AS3xtra on special but also has the new Yak 54 3D. Besides colour they seem basically identical with many of the same spares. Is it worth paying 30% more for the new Yak? PS: I will post the same question on your Yak 54 3d review.

As always great review. What's the difference between General Flight and Standard AS3X? Which one make the plane fly more like a regular plane, as in no assistance like the 300 3D. Also can you fly slow tight indoor high-alpha maneuvers in hover assist mode, or just hover in place?

General flight mode has heading hold on the ailerons while standard as3x does not. If you want the least assist go with as3x mode. I like high alpha in standard as3x, but after flying the assist modes for a bit I found as3x to just be the most fun.

Can you fly around in high-alpha in hover assist mode, or does hover assist just keep the plane in one spot?

How is it possible to hold the stick/sticks in position AND connect a battery, I only have two hands lol

Just to clarify, which of the first two modes is best for a beginner making the plane the easiest to control?

+Sandy Scott The assist modes help with that particular maneuver but for just general flying standard as3x in low rates will be the easiest.

+Discover RC Great thanks. Been looking for a slow flier and one of the forum members recommended the Tech One Katana for a BNF model that will meet my mission. Going to check that out prior to making a decision.

Great video. Do you know how to program the three position switch (flap) on a dx7? I think I need to assign gear to flap, but don't know how. Manual is a bit confusing. Sorry noob

Hey Mark-that's a good question. I charged up my old dx7 and took a shot at it, but cannot find a way to do that. Only looks like aux2 could be moved to the 3 position switch. Sorry I can't help more with that one.

    You have a DX18QQ!? :O

I definitely recommend it! Though the new DX9 is pretty nice too. I did get a nice flashlight with the 18 :P

RCdeparture I was most impressed by the hat! I actually filmed a "detailed look" of the DX18QQ that my buddy, who works for Horizon, bought for himself. We also met Quique at E-Fest, while my buddy was wearing the hat, and QQ asked my buddy to pose for a pic with him. :)

It's actually pretty strong-it's so light. But yeah-you have to be a bit careful-keep it in the box too when not in use!
