Hi youtube posted your channel as a suggested watch on my listing. And now I see why. I'm 62 and through my 30's and 40's I was in to land based RC's car, truck, and boats. never really took much interest in flight. But over time my daughter grew up and had three children of her own the youngest one my grandson age 6 has mastered everything I've given him land based in RC and done it is just about a week. his eye hand coordination is amazing to say the least. So I'm thinking the next step for him is flight. I've sat down with him and picked out two planes the first one his is the AeroScout S from horizon hobbies. it's got the safe mode which Ithink is a really great thing for a beginning pilot. and for me since I have Zero flight experience and the belief that bigger is better. I've been looking at the Carbon Z Cub SS. for the same reason as it has the safe mode built in. I'm hoping to get both planes and everything needed for our first flight together by Christmas this year (12/2020.) I'm now listed as a subscriber on your channel and the bellring when you post something new. however I do plan to go dig around in your other video's you done for more instructional videos about this 3d flying and to learn as much as I can so that I can teach my grandson what I learn from you. oh and that's a really cool looking plane you have in the video's.
I have learned more 3D from Michael Wargo's tutorials than all others combined. Instead of "move the sticks like this" he has an approach that teaches you how to get the correct feel for the airplane. And once that start to settle a whole new world opens up ! Believe me guys, listen to very word carefully. Thank you very very much Michael !
Thank you! From listing to these vids I went and did my first harrier, hover and knife edge, all in one flight, now I just need to practice to get it less sloppy now. SO A BIG THANKS FOR SHARING!!
thanks for all the tips Michael I am working on more use of the left stick it is though to train yourself to do things like this so I have decided to learn the wargo way I watch all your videos to get the best advice your awesome keep up the great work 😎
Hi Michael. It looks like your transmitter is mode 2. I fly mode 1 - elevator and rudder on left stick, throttle and aileron on right stick. My question is - let’s say I was flying mode 4 so throttle is still on the left, am I making it more difficult to fly 3d having aileron and rudder swapped over compared to your set up? I recently bought a second hand XL and am slowly getting there
Great share even though a few years old. I am surprised you fly without a strap and with thumbs. I would think that pinch using a strap provides more support for the maneuvers, except maybe you are faster with just thumbs.
CrossThread Aero Industries // it comes in natural, will be the day you are flying and all of a sudden dont even realize its not on the neck. A transmitter is held like a real gun, gently, stick movement the same as the trigger, feather it.
Such a Great video!I hover in my kitchen right in front of my nose for a battery but I sure as heck needed that coaching on the rest. this was awsome! Thank you!! Caching! You should have a Tip Jar. hmmm not a bad idea?
When Michael is saying buoyancy picture the Atoms in the air being water and your plane is floating through it. The same way you feel Atoms when you stick your hand out of the window of a car you can feel the buoyancy moving your hand up
No doubt the most helpful video I have seen yet on 3D! Your explanation and analogy are thought provoking and very helpful for this stage of my training. I will be watching this again! One question regarding hover and throttle management. When I hover I usually harrier to where the plane is directly in front of me and I am looking at the top of the plane, then a bit more elevator to bring it vertical with just enough throttle to hold it or allow a slight rise, then it seems I need the rudder the most, followed by small amounts of elevator and slight aileron correction to keep the top of the plane facing me, with very little throttle adjustment. I can usually get a 5-10 second hover before it all falls apart. Should I be focusing more on the throttle? I will try that next, thanks....
Hi Michael, my name is Mike and I am flying for 25 years and I did like slow 3D , but I was familiar with methanol engines of those days, I saw your amazing video which rose my love back , may you advise how I can get the same model and radio of yours without hassle as I am not familiar with these days packages. I appreciate a lot for your help , I am in Vancouver Canada 🇨🇦. Thanks again waiting for your advise MIKE MOHIT
Please go to this thread on RC Groups, then you can Personal Message me and I can answer your questions. www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?1968864-1-2-3D-How-to-fly-3Dwith-Michael-Wargo/page636 PrecisionAerobatics.com you can find the addiction, but the radio I use might be a bit much, we can chat on that forum. Also, the forum is a great resource for learning. You will see
At what stage is it best to throttle up when doing the rolling harrier? Also is it the elevator that keeps the plane complete the circle? Do you pull up on the elevator when the plane is on a knife edge travelling from right to left with its canopy facing you? Do u then give it down elevator when ths plane is on a knife edge with its underside facing you?
The throttle is subjective based on whether the plane begins to fall. No real formula. All feel. As for the turn, it is generally a result of early input. i.e. as you are rolling right, if you apply left rudder a bit early it tends to turn the aircraft, same with elevator. That is why the rolling harrier turning is easy, staying straight is a trick.
the "flip turn" and knife edge spin are NOT throttle management skills lmao, I noticed that to. i do KE spins and flip turns all the time and the throttle stays the same
Larger with less pitch. The larger the prop the more prop wash hits the control surfaces giving you more control when in a stalled or harrier configuration or hovering.
+Donny Brandy I have a few documents out there showing my exact settings and how to set up your planes. Go to RC groups or any of my sponsors' sites. IT is Michael Wargo's set up guide. I use between 50 and 70% on 3d rates depending on plane, but switch between rates fairly often when I am flying more precision stuff.
Some kind of fully symmetrical. Thinner version, cuz you never really develop any big amount of lift from airflow alone, cuz the low speed. It's mostly angle of attack, where you get the lift.
If 3D Airplane flight is all "Throttle Management" is there no means to fly level with the Transmitter setup for Aircraft and when one wishes to transition from 'Aircraft Style Flight' to 'Helicopter Style Flight' to simply flip a switch on the Transmitter and switch to 'Helicopter Layout', then the Plane would be controlled with the "ease of a Helicopter" (not simple, but not impossible; and far more logical for what you are trying to do). Or, would that take all the fun out of it, to simply have it be as easy as a Helicopter to fly ... I don't get that as it would imply that you'd want to make travelling forward in a Helicopter a challenge; and who does that. Is it a case of that a Helicopter has a "Flight Controller" and GPS, and that you do those functions using your brain and the transmitter. Is that the trick of this that we are to appreciate ? Precision control without using a Flight Controller (CPU). ?
Hey Mike, I understand you live in Florida. I fly at Tangerine Field, RCACF in Apopka/Orlando. Are you nearby? Would love to invite you to fly with us sometime. Perhaps you’ve been with us before.
I am in Orlando, and yes I have flown there many times. More than a few friends there. I fly at Irks, moonport and New smyrna mostly. I live in Heathrow. Reach me through a PM in rc groups and maybe we can connect!
Send me a youtube message... OR there is a very popular thread on RC groups called how to fly 3d with Michael Wargo It is sticky'd and everything. I will give you my regular email.
Having the timer set at 25-30% on the throttle also gives you that telltale beep when you approach minimum controllable airspeed. Perfect when flying at or just above the stall speed of your aircraft.

HOnestly, I do not really know if it is more or less difficult. I really don't. I am sorry. Maybe someone out there knows.
Amazing Tutorials! Keep up the great work.

Very useful tips, Sir!
these are so helpful. thank you
Awesome again!!!!! Thanks so much for your good work
it would be so cool to build a clear plane with a painted frame
What is clicking on the radio?
Great job
I finally did a tail drag today wild herring across the yard with my crack yak😄🎉🎊 not bad for a Domino's delivery guy
Super !

Do the wings come off easily for transport? I'm thinking about getting this plane. Thanks.

I've been practicing on the RF8 big time. An average how long does it take to get the skills to be able to hover?
Bravo les ingénieurs.

For 3d flying, do YOU prefer less or more pitch for YOUR props? (That has forever confused me).
Thank in advance! 👍 New subscriber!
Larger with less pitch. The larger the prop the more prop wash hits the control surfaces giving you more control when in a stalled or harrier configuration or hovering.
Sorry, just saw this... Lower pitch for sure!
Are you trimming when your flying around like that, because I keep hearing the clicking?
No... The sound you hear is the timer turning on and off when I hit near zero throttle.
Wow now i can do it I just watch this.
how nose heavy do you set this plane or do you set it about dead center
oi michael tudo bem??? como faço pra adquirir um aero desse com esse Setup top!!!! voa super lento e faz um exelente voo 3d.
Maaaan... I would like to see the EXPO Settings on the DX18 up close!!! :)

+Michael Wargo I just found youre rcgroups Thread. Especially the document on Mixing is remarkable. I was curious about the use of mixing! Thx!
Can you fly mode 1??? Alot of people in the world fly mode 1, Is there any chance of doing a vid in mode 1? Thank you.
Great video. Its really hard to push your own limits in rc and learn 3d. Most sport flyers just stick to flying large circles...
what is that for a model?
which type of airfoil was that
Some kind of fully symmetrical. Thinner version, cuz you never really develop any big amount of lift from airflow alone, cuz the low speed. It's mostly angle of attack, where you get the lift.
what transmitter are you using and why was it beeping when you were blipping the throttle at the beginning
flight timer can be set to start/stop at x% of throttle. Especially useful for glider fliers. It sounded like that was the beep on throttle.
+FirewoRc [Rc airplanes and more...] I would never rely on spectrum
+Cold World That's so unhelpful. That's the equivalent of a boy pissing on a ford/chevy logo.
which plane model is that?
If 3D Airplane flight is all "Throttle Management" is there no means to fly level with the Transmitter setup for Aircraft and when one wishes to transition from 'Aircraft Style Flight' to 'Helicopter Style Flight' to simply flip a switch on the Transmitter and switch to 'Helicopter Layout', then the Plane would be controlled with the "ease of a Helicopter" (not simple, but not impossible; and far more logical for what you are trying to do).

It also sounds like he is changing his expo.
That sounds like him trimming it but I'm not sure
Where are the plans?
is this field SPARKS???
Anybody knows the name of this airplane?
It is the Precision Aerobatics Addiction XL
@@MichaelWargo Thank you. More and more I think, I have to have one. :-)
I have that plane
