Galaxy Impact is by far one of the greatest showcases of power in One Piece.... It almost looked like when Lulusia Kingdom was destroyed.

I always had this in mind, that in Marineford, the whole reason why he let Luffy attack him without reacting was that he was certain that Luffy couldn't do any serious harm to him, and also the reason why Sengoku stopped Garp himself after Ace's death was that he seriously considered that Garp would actually kill Sakazuki.

He was torn between his loyalty as a marine and his love for both his grandsons. He had to step in the way, but he was just not capable to seriously fight his grandson (which Sengoku even acknowledges during the fight).
Now him wanting to kill Sakazuki... Im not entirely sure he would have. I think he was still torn to his marine loyalty because he barely put up a struggle against Sengoku. I'd say if he went mad with rage Sengoku might have had a slightly more difficult time containing him.
I'm not worried for Garp - not yet, at least. I feel like we're in a spot in the story where we're building up a lot of hype for the heaviest hitters around, show off their power a bit and make ready for their inevitable clash. Shanks last chapter, now Garp, maybe Blackbeard beating up Law next, and then Dragon, and so on. Garp might go down in the first round, but he's not going to lose to some subordinates.

Edit: Kuzan is at pirate island so i suppose the team that went to whole cake got back to pirate island already but still unless you think its kitsune girl i think its clear they are going to egghead for something no way blackbeard would trust one of his dumbass subordinates with something so clearly important on egghead.

@@Antonio12329d lmao you misunderstand. Garp would absolutely destroy war-fatigued Sakazuki. Not to mention that strong emotions heavily affect (usually strengthen) haki so Garp would be near his peak strength from his burst of emotion.
Out of all of the "massive story and character secrets" drops chapters we've had lately, I think this one is my most favorite, so far. Everyone is always asking for information about their favorite pirate crews, which means almost NO information about the Marines, SWORD, or any affiliate organizations for them by contrast. The SWORD information drop and seeing "Garp the Hero" get serious for once were applause inducing, let's all be real.
And Garp isn't even in his prime.

There's some good news depending on how much you like Law as a character.
If there's anything that could get Teach to retreat or at the very least make him leave just before killing Law, Garp turning his hideout into a donut probably would fit the bill.

Galaxy fist was by far one of the coolest and most impressive attack in this series and i wouldnt be suprised if luffy witnessed him use it once trying to convince him the marines can help him get as strong as that inspiring the monkey god gun as an in world explanation, on top of that it really makes you wonder how strong prime garp was

Between seeing Shanks and now Garp. It feels like we are starting to see how Luffy still has a bit to go to reach their level. This is giving me a, "Luffy and Koby team up to take out the big baddy at the end vibes." They are both the respective "proteges" and have made huge strides in the story. I am also getting the feeling Garp might not end up doing so well by the end of this.

I really appreciate those moments in which Oda shows the connection between different characters in one panel. The galaxy punch has this Monkey family vibes and you can retrospectively see how Luffy might have learned from his grandpa. But on the other hand, it also gives you a glimpse at how Dragon might fight also.
This thought made me want to see the three of them fighting together. If Garp got himself captured, would Dragon and Luffy make a move on that?

I just love how things like that can only happen in One Piece. One of the longest known characters turning out to be an absolute powerhouse without it feeling like an asspull. Garp was always described as one of the strongest Marines and even though we saw him fight multiple times at a much lower level it always made sense. He either didn't need to go all out or was actively holding back. So even with the power creep after the time skip it still feels natural.
I have a feeling that BB wants to become king so he can get close to Mary Geoise for events like the reverie. Which would allow him to not only have an influence on major decisions made in the world, but would also allow him to potentially get close to the empty throne(that's if he knows about imu)
Garps Entrance showed us how much of a military asset Sengoku still had at Marineford. One that Whitebeard had to calculate in but still, seeing an Island the approximate size of Marineford get Buster-Called by the use of a single Fist-Punching gives me shivers.

I find it funny that this is the first confirmation that Garp has conquerors haki. Like it was implied before that he was just going in with armament and observation but this makes a lot more sense

One thing that I find immensely interesting is the fact that Tashigi is in one panel onboard Garp's ship. The question I ask then, is Tashigi a part of Sword, or an even bigger question, is Smoker on the ship as well and is he also a part of Sword? So many questions..
She was seen with Helmeppo when he was begging for the marines to rescue Koby but Smoker still wasn't around. But I do recall that Smoker and Tashigi had a meeting with Vegapunk arranged.

As someone who started reading the manga at the end of Wano, I have experienced nothing short of greatness every time a chapter drops, I am spoiled
I think I appreciate the Info Boxes in this chapter more than any other chapter, not only are there reintroductions to several established character, but a LOT of new Devil Fruit powers are revealed, and Oda wisely chose to confirm the names of a bunch of them here. I think my favorite detail is revealing that Kujaku is Tsuru's granddaughter, a detail that's cool but honestly rather insignificant in the grand scheme of things to the point where I can't imagine it coming up organically in the story proper.
It's also cool that we finally got an explanation of what SWORD is, but I'm still really intrigued by Koby's accomplishments and what he's done to warrant the reputation he has, a reputation that makes Blackbeard think he's too valuable for the Marines and the World Government to disregard. What I love, though, is that despite all of Koby's accomplishments and heroics, he continues to remain humble, genuinely thinking he's not important enough for the Marines to rescue and surprised to see Garp show up to save him. Which, by the way, for a man with no Devil Fruit powers, his big Haki-empowered Galaxy Fist ending off the chapter felt akin to Sengoku's Buddha shockwaves during the Marineford arc. It's incredibly that he's past his prime yet STILL capable of feats like this!
I also felt Garp's entrance was ominous. Particularly because of the focus on his ship. This could be the last time the ship touches the ocean.
One Piece has so many powerhouses that we're hyped up about all of them and can't wait to see how things unfold and where all of their stories are going!
Luffy, Shanks, Garp, Blackbeard, Mihawk, Rayleigh, Dragon, Ancient Weapons, Admirals (so far seem on a lower level but not to be ruled out), and Koby seems to be brewing slowly and raised to be with Luffy as the next Garp/Roger vs Xebec parallel (even if right now he's a weakling)
Under the assumption that Garps attack was solely due to him, and not enhanced by an unknown Sword members Devil Fruit, it's worth remembering when he spiked Marco to the ground in Marineford he was holding back A LOT.

Grand line review, I just had a a crazy thought after I read this chapter! Awesome review btw!!! What if by the end of this whether Garp will be alive or dead after this, Coby gets rescued, putting Blackbeards king plan on dire straits, but thanks to returning Blackbeard Pirates that were near Egghead he gets the best possible bargaining chip to force the gorosei and Imu to get whatever he wants, which I somehow think it’s going to be Princess Vivi Nefritari!!!

My biggest worry for Garp comes from his paternal relationship with coby. He lost nearly all his family members (either dead or estranged) so losing coby might be a breaking point for him. Either he willingly trades himself for Coby's freedom or Coby dies which shatters Garp's emotional stability, making him not able to efficiently use haki like what happened to katakuri and Big mom when they were emotionally or mentally shook.
This is One Piece, dude. Koby is not going to die. Oda already said it in the first chapters. Luffy will be Pirate King and Koby will be an Admiral.
And Garp is not going to die, because there needs to be a scene between him and Luffy where he accepts Luffy's decision and he decides to actively join Luffy and Dragon in toppling the World Government
One Piece is a fight manga. I would imagine five good guys will have to fight the Gorosei. I think Garp will be one of the good guys.

Usopps plants are Pop Greens, PG, which I'm guessing is the same PG for the PG Flowers. It's interesting that Vegapunk got a peace Prize for the flowers considering Usopps plants are not very peaceful. Usopp was sent to an island known as Paradise and my theory is that it was once a paradise and Vegapunk created the flowers there and when they left the flowers evolved into other plants and over grew the Island eventually becoming the giant plant that is the island. Iirc Stella has not yet interacted with Usopp and it would be interesting to see his reaction to the plants like we saw with Stella talking about Nika and not recognizing Gum Gum as a known devil fruit, very interested in seeing if he recognizes the Pop Greens as his own. Being with the World Government it is also possible he knows about the other Pop Greens and either kept them secret to keep them from being used or the Goverment themselves kept them secret since Hibari using them shows they know they can be used as a form of weapon. And of course it would be amusing to see Usopp and Hibari get into a plant fight

I think because Blackbeard is facing Law at the same time as this Garp won't have to face him for two reasons; one since BB is a decent distance away from Hachinosu and it feels weird if he would show up unless he used Van Augers DF I guess, and two if he did show up that would imply that Law is most likely dead and while it would be really cool for Blackbeard to show up on Hachinosu and just say "Room", I don't think Oda is ready to kill off one of the top 10 most popular characters in the show.
Edit: Honestly I think that if Garp were to die, I would like him to die when fighting shanks. From that we can finally see the fight that has kind of been stirring since the beginning of the show with Garp hating Shanks for making Luffy want to be a pirate and will end with Luffy's father figures fighting and eventually having the side that he didn't really want to listen to die, I think that will have more of an impact on the audience and Luffy himself
I think teach will show up at end of the invasion.
@@ryancaruana4518 I can see that happening and it would make sense but I think teach will be too injured from fighting Law that he wouldn't do much of anything, and unless the members who are here can damage Garp enough (which i doubt), Garp should be able to escape relatively easily, especially since he seemingly brought the strongest members of a marine base with him

But it's not just Garp against all of the level 6 prisoners remember all of the members of sword seen in the chapter are minimum Lieutenant Commander's (with Helmeppo being the only Lieutenant Commander and everyone else being a higher rank then him) where a good chunk of them are rear admirals and vice admirals (like Prince Grus and Kujaku) and lets not forget that there are probably a few very strong marines on the ship who haven't shown off yet like Garp's right hand man (the guy with the sword idk if he has a name or not). So Garp is probably only really going to face off against one or two of the members of Teach's crew while the rest handle everyone else will handle the others. I can see Garp facing off against Wolf and Pizarro because they are the big enemies while the other titanic captains face off against the higher ranking members present. Which leads me to believe Garp can probably make it out with a few injuries but will still be fine.

The Rocky Port being soft confirmed in this chapter to be on Hachinosu certainly puts Law's rise to power in an interesting light. This may mean he came to Pirate Island and surgically removed 100 of Ochaku's men's hearts and dipped. In the aftermath, Koby helps the townsfolk as Blackbeard runs rampant and ousts Ochaku after he lost some of his best guys

I would love to see a scene with Sengoku reading about Garps rescue mission and then reflecting back on Marineford, revealing that he had a future sight moment where he actually sees Garp kill Akainu. Would add a new layer to the scene we get of him holding Garp down.

Damn, man. That was my thoughts on "Sword" exactly as soon as I heard the explanation: "This is sound like something Sakazuki will create". And it is also good explanation why 99% of the "Swords" have conflict with Akainu - he made them this proposal: "Either you become one or get out of Marines".
Don't think so, sword was around before he became fleet admiral and it would not make sense sword must have another leader separate from the head of the regular marines, it's Garp or Kuzan, not saying they started it but by now I'm sure there isn't anyone stronger than them not introduced.
