"Nothing was ordinary about this alt-J show - not that anything is ever ordinary from the artful British band. But on Tuesday night at (Le) Poisson Rouge in New York City, alt-J would play its first concert in eight months: its first without departed friend and bassist/guitarist Gwil Sainsbury, its first with touring member Cameron Knight, and its first playing songs from the upcoming album This Is All Yours.
The new songs have all the power of the old ones, flush with textured sounds from Gus Unger-Hamilton's electronic horns, steel drums, voices, and dense washes of grit. Lyrically, the new songs are equal parts creepy, lovely, puzzling, and expressive. In that expression is precision; you can see it in drummer Thom Green (watch his left hand) and you can hear it in the guitar dynamics and vocal phrasing of Joe Newman. This isn't a band of pyrotechnic wizards, but alt-J's technical prowess helped make this performance a deep pleasure on an extraordinary evening."

I LOVE HOW THOM GETS INTO IT BEFORE IT'S EVEN HIS TIME TO INCLUDE A BEAT I LOVE HIM
Yeah Thom is in it❤
The percussion is one of the best thing with this cd
They are getting better and better!
These guys are awesome... ALT-J keep on like this ,we need your music!
New to this band...These guys are awesome...proof that contemporary techno stuff can be a great vehicle for some amazing ancient Celtic Highlands rhythmic chant-like sounds to come through...totally talented and gifted band! Vocals and instrumentals are quite good! Would sure like to experience them live!
This band is just.... so so so dope. Like, Got Damn!
I found them in 2015 with the album, An Awesome Wave. I wish they would've became mainstream with that record rather than Relaxor or whatever it's called. They are like night and day. Glad you found them. Go check out their concert on KEXP on UA-cam. Sounds exactly like the record. And it came out 10 years ago…!
The most unique an revolutionary music I have heard! I love you Alt J :) oxoxo
Really happy that I stumbled across Alt+J
I love this group❤️
Like I just wanna be their friend.
gonna see them livee in julyyyy can't wait
me too!! so excited
23:00 Thom is really talented !
Brilliant.
So good
I'm seeing them in a week :3 I literally cannot wait!
Nice! I envy you. Just discovered them a month ago and they are my fav band of the decade already.
pranath sisodiya They're great! What's your fav song? :3
I would say "Intro" of This is all Yours. Starting to like the minimalistic music these days. Do you listen to Phillip Glass?
No, I don't, but I'll make sure to give him an ear :) pranath sisodiya
You should. What's your fav Alt J song?
Dayummm.....
Why would somebody ever thumb this down? Because the concert should have been longer or 'cause they left out some good songs? Because the ultracool blonde bass/ guitar player gwil left the band every single musician wants to be in???
I don't know that's why I liked the video :3
omg I cannot wait
por qué nunca cantan arrival in Nara!?! :( los besttt
❤thom
Bloodflood
"Pick a petal meinemoawmoe" 😂
Marche de mille souliers soulignent l'effet Pon même à Baltimore là où sont les fish celles qui font o...
No set list yet. Please!
Im surprised someone hasnt taught a bit of mic technique to the singer, he is right on top of the mic the whole time so when he goes into lower register its just not heard in the mix enough, a problem Ive seen with lots of their live shows.
cool show though.
Love these guys but they need to work on that
Just saw these guys live in Burnaby they are great
but they still have this issue XD. although singing with the crowd
I've loved Alt J since the beginning but maybe I'm confused... This appears to be only 2 of the four original members... Am I correct in that or am I mistaken?
3 of the 4. The drummer far right is the same
Common this is 64kbits/s audio or what ?
anyone knows what he says at the end of Bloodflood Pt.2 ? from 28:31-29:01
"Quela, Quela"
and from rock.genius.com/Alt-j-bloodflood-pt-ii-lyrics :
"Red-billed queleas are the most populated wild bird species in the world, though only living in Africa.
A flock of them may symbolize a bloodflood due to their abundance and red color of their bills.
The quelea is also previously mentioned in the song ‘Pusher’ quite prominently."
Quela is mentioned in the lyrics. But he says something else along side the band. Thanks for the information you provided!
@@aviadc150 it varies from performance to performance, there is no set correct lyric for that part
@@jasonglasser1621 I once turned up the volume all the way. Upon listening I realized that perhaps it has a different meaning for everyone.
Set list anyone? Please share
Carofine Caroline it's in the description
FinalApocalypse thank you! My mom always tells me I "never look properly" I guess she is right. Yikes!
They have a strange sound...
ignoring the occular pleasure centers they play.
Horrible! There live performances arent that good. I got hooked by there music videos, then came to the live and wasnt impressed! Nails on a chalk board
