One of the best scenes of the series is Paulie being so satisfied and happy overlooking the industrial landscape of Northern New Jersey after building up and being so disappointed with Italy.

You are supposed to hate Richie and be annoyed by Jan. They are well acted with a good script. You will hate other characters more in later seasons.

One theory about Richie is that he’s the Devil... that’s his actual soul. Death & gloom like a cloud always follows him whenever he walks into a room. The deadness in his eyes... like he’s not really there. He looks like Death itself.
It’s not authority that triggers Richie’s hatred. It’s anyone that he feels slighted him. Beansie not visiting him in prison was enough to trigger him.

Long Time, No Sopranos
I know you’re in the thick of The Sopranos, but if you haven’t seen Peaky Blinders, it is an amaaaazing show with excellent writing and casting. Highly recommend diving into that if you need a new series after this 👍🏼 Cillian Murphy deserves all the awards for that show, and after seeing him in Oppenheimer, it would be a crime if he doesn’t get an Oscar. Just an opinion, but Peaky Blinders is totally worth a look-see if you’re looking for a GREAT show
I grew up in North Jersey and half my friends parents were mafia - it actually made us feel safer because even the cops liked the mafia in Jersey when I was growing up
Did you stay in North Jersey or did you migrate? I started out on Long Island, loved in California for a while and now live in Florida. On Long Island, there were lots of wise guys around and they did business in Queens. Youngstown, Ohio is/was another mob enclave.

Another aspect of Carmela talking with Angie is when she says, "I know you're not going to leave him.".
Carmella says that for multiple reasons. First of all, they have that pretend-to-be-Catholic thing going on (Catholic church officially forbids divorce). Second, they have the Mafia thing, which doesn't like divorce, for various reasons. And finally, if one of those wives leaves their husband, it shows they could all do that. Keeping the status quo is in Carmela's interests because as long as they all have reasons for why they don't leave their husbands, it gives them an excuse for staying.
