You really need to check out my definitive King Curtis biography, "Soul Serenade: King Curtis and His Immortal Saxophone." One of the most influential musicians of his generation tragically cut down in his prime.
Different music, but familiar scene, MRM. Back in the early to mid 80's, while stationed on our navy ship, we had a rock band called Strike Force. We were ll junior enlisted med, so we didn't have much money either. When we were in port we used s friend's attic to practice in. We would pool our money and usually ended up with a haul of chicken leg quarters, a bottle of cheap BBQ sauce, and a case of Geoble beer. We never got tired of it. The man whose attic we were using also had a band, and his roommate played the sax. Our practices often ended in all out jam sessions. Lots of blues shuffles with alternating leads between sax and guitar. You and I may have played different music, but I'll bed there would be a lot of head nodding of recognition should you and I ever share our musical experiences. I think that most musicians have had similar experiences, especially the ones lacking cash.
Agreed. Had to stay in house at a mental facility at one time. Sat down in the common room and it took about 5 minutes before we had a lead guitarist, a bass, a keyboardist, a drummer and a vocalist. Not even lying.

Ha! This was awesome, I hadnt heard this before; but it had such a feel of like older show’s, sort of like Soul Train, but earlier, not 70’s & 80’s, more like 60’s... what a great jam, love it 🖤🖤

Doesn't matter if you react to it or not, but nice if you do of course. The Thrill is Gone with BB King. Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and Jimmy Vaughn. It's a live performance and the bass player is off the chain. Now go....
