Hard to believe all the negativity in the comments! Love your design, you show each step clearly, you're to the point, and the product is great. Not sure why people are complaining about not having these tools. Any DIY project requires some minimal tools, and if you don't have the right tool, you can substitute something else, or just use a hand saw with sand paper. Having the tools just makes it faster and easier.
I know this film was realesed 7 years ago but why are the comments so negative? Its obviously a sword for begginers to make to learn the basics. Do they actually think they can bulid a amazing sword like that? (I still really love the design its simple just how it should be)
made one for my son as well... by hand because I don't own power tools other than a drill... Took a minute.. lol... the only thing I outsourced to a local woodworker was the addition of a blood grove which I found very time consuming and labor intensive doing it by hand...(I tried) and he only charged me 5 bucks for his time and the work. Great tutorial.
@@HigherPlanes Hey! It's called a fuller, not a blood groove -- the 'blood groove' myth was propogated in the mid 1900s mainly out of ignorance. The fuller 'groove' makes the sword weigh less towards the tip.
@.35 might want to let your blade all the way up or completely stop before removing waste pieces. You have a push stick, why wouldnt you use it for more of your table saw cuts? Or make a better push stick? If you follow fishers shop on youtube he has a good push stick with a free template. The sword looks good but you are making a lot of dangerous cuts. One slip and you are going to have a serious accident. Table saws are no joke.
Yeah, I loved the end product but man this guy was just an accident waiting to happen.... Worked too fast and didn't have any real safety devices at all.
I hope you see this. Every time I watch a video, the guy goes way too fast. You didn't really go all that fast and actually it felt alot easier to pay attention and see what you were doing. I can't wait to try this and I appreciate the way you did this. Thanks man
I'm afraid your going to seriously injure yourself on that table saw. Maybe you're left handed? But you should be standing on the other side of blade and fence. Also a push stick would make those cuts safer.
You might have been doing since you were a teen... but you have a UA-cam channel I assume you want to grow... you have a responsibility to show best practice...
cool sword, no clue why you put the extra wood on the handle. why didnt you just leave it that thick to begin with? also seems kinda big for a kids hand
Ooh. A fable 2 reference. Because in fable 2. When you start as a kid, you get a toy gun and a wooden sword to beat up the bully Rex. And save the dog.
I mean the whole video is pretty much a reference to probably every game with swords. Deltarune, Kris' -pencil- carbon powered wooden sword, minecraft's typical wooden sword, you name it. And that seems an awfully weird game, out of context like that. And many comments are new. Quarantine, i guess ^^
I hate it when I see comments like this normally but your table saw use is terrifying... I get time is precious and everyone gets complacent but how you havent been injured before is a suprise... That aside nice build.
Wow cool sword dude it looks like a Minecraft sword so good job maybe you could make stone iron and gold and diamond to wait those are too expensive whatever I just spoke to singed or whatever
I built one for a prop in a play this afternoon Turned out pretty good. For the pommel it just seemed too dangerous to do that on the saw so I rolled it around on a stationary belt sander and got the same effect. Also, I had some trouble with the setup for angling the 4th side of the blade since there wasnt' much to reference against the fence. Thanks for the video!
Glad it worked out for you. I don't have a belt sander so I used what I had, that's kind of how it goes sometimes. As far as the blade angling, what you could also do next time is use some painters tape to reattach the bits you've cut off to give your stock the original shape again.
This is great for learning the basics. Personally I would want a realistic looking sword, but this is great btw, people, you don't need powertools to make this. If you just have a saw, a file, a knife and maybe some sandpaper, you'll be just fine. If not, then why the fuck are you watching this video?
Cool, but its "POMMEL" not "PUMMEL". Pummel means to strike something repeatedly e.g. he pummeled the UA-cam commenter with the pommel of his wooden sword.
No saw safety at all. This is a great tutorial but don't put your hands near the blades like he does throughout the video. It's only a matter of time before he goes to ER.
Thanks for the tip. You're not the only person that has brought this up. I never tried to make other people uncomfortable with my own comfort. Thing will be different in the future.
You're going to get hurt on that table saw which is fine, but for God's sake keep your son away from that thing until you find somebody else to teach him how to use it. Yes you are wrong.
MrShoeguy I appreciate your concern. You have the right to be concerned. But just in case you are curious, I am left handed and the video clips are sped up x4. I know how to use a table saw and have been doing so for a very long time. I do realize that being a teaching channel, I need to be careful how I interact with tools. In future videos I will be sure to use my tools as if I have zero experience.
U&I DIY every one who is complaining can heck off, I don't have ALL the tools in the video but you showed the necessary processes really well and I can make do with what I have.
You can make the same thing with a pocket knife some glue and sand paper. It will just take you longer. Laziness is the only thing holding people back from being creative makers. And before your panties get twisted I am not calling you lazy just stating that a majority of people think they can’t do some thing because they don’t have fancy tools, or they aren’t as smart or athletic. It’s all a state of mind.

Thanks! I made two swords for my kids to play with and they are having a blast!
Question, are the blades still a somewhat good shape?
Since the original was make of hard wood, it's been holding up Fantastic. No issues. Even with the leather

Pussssyyy
You need to get a responsible adult to do the cutting for you unless you are careful and know what you are doing
I am an adult. I'm 29 and have been using a table saw since before I was a teen.
You might have been doing since you were a teen... but you have a UA-cam channel I assume you want to grow... you have a responsibility to show best practice...

The extra wood makes the handle square.

With a little tweaking this could easily be the Ordon sword. Good luck with the costume.
It's dangerous to go alone, take this.
¿How many centimeters is the edge of the sword in actual size?

how long will this take
Depending on your comfort level, less than an hour.

It is very cool but I don't have a table saw, so could you make a wooden sword without the table saw
And make a video about it
