Nice piece plus I love to see daddy's who are not too busy to do something nice for their kids. They won't be that age long. love them hard while they will let you. God Bless my friend.
Love that you're such a family man! Your narration reflects your comfortable approach to woodworking that makes others less intimidated to take on such projects! Keep up the great work! I look forward to all your videos!
For all the wonderful things I've watched you make, this is my favorite. Nothing dad's won't do for their kids! Thank you for sharing this special activity.
I just sat for 20+ minutes and watched a sword being built. I have no need for a sword nor do I have the tools to build this. Keep it up man!!! So satisfying to watch an artist at work!! Currently in the process of building a solid workbench!
Wow, what a great looking sword, and she is too cute, hope she had a great time. Well done dad. Also the dry humor is not lost, lol. Hope you and your daughter have many years of wood working good times to come. GOD BLESS,,,,
Hi James, I’ve been a woodworking enthusiast for over 20 years, I’ve been obsessed over anything having to do with fine woodworking for the past 5 years. Once I found your channel so many of the mysteries and techniques have been cleared up during your videos. You are a gifted educator able to provide logical, step-by-step instruction that IMHO is unmatched on UA-cam. I wish you success in your business and teaching. I really enjoyed the series of videos on the ultimate workbench and bench vise I will be purchasing your plans to build one very soon.
James, I am really impressed with all your videos. Not only are you a ceative builder but I love the fact that you get your whole family involved in your work. I am very impressed with the whole attitude. Keep up the good work. Be blessed
The first thing, what i maked as a kid, was a wooden sword. With a pocket knife. From one peace of wood, what i have found by a house under contruction. Oh boy, the time comes back. Thank you for this.
Great project, my brother and I made some swords when I has a kid. After 1 week and several bruised knuckles my dad thought it's best used as firewood. Inspiration Highlander "there can be only one"
By far the best video, I've watched from you so far. There is nothing like making something for your kids. Makes the project special. Hope she enjoyed Renn Fest!
Haha, thank you, Not as nice as yours of course, but I need more practice. EVERYONE, Check out my Friend from Geeks Wood Shop's Longsword build ua-cam.com/video/Hg0JDKvKEB8/v-deo.html And check out his channel for more awesome builds. Link in the description!
Man I learn so much from your videos. They are really calming as well. I like how you do things differently then most of the people pumping out videos. Eases the mind see it done differently. Also you make cool stuff that I want to build!
As always, you surpass yourself & bring to life another exquisite project which once again you hand over to your nearest & dearest. They sure will have plenty to remember you by in later years. How many parents do what you do??? You are an example to follow my friend. Kind regards.
Dear James, many thanks for your courteous reply. I genuinely meant it as to my knowledge there is no one on UA-cam ( that I am aware of???) that is as inspiring as a parent & a well seasoned woodworker all rolled into one. Keep up the great work. Kind regards.
Great vid James. That’s a nice broadsword! I’m sure your daughter impressed anyone at the party! Loved the last testing bit too. Gotta test it hahaha. Cuts really good doesn’t it!
If you temper it it will hold an edge better.... Great project, I remember making wooden swords a kid and this inspired me to go out into the shop and make one for my boy.
My 10 year old grandson is visiting and made a small sword out of base molding and some alder. He saw this and now - you guessed it we are heading back to the shop for a "smaller version" of this. I don't know if I should thank you or chastise you 😜, either way it was a great video. Love the family aspect. Keep it up.
That's a pretty good story. But I've got you beat. Now my other four daughters each want one. And they are also asking me if I can make them battle axes. Thank you for watching ~ James
King's Fine Woodworking You win. I may have to make 2 more, one for the older brother and the 5 year old sister but she is less demanding and it can be smaller simpler versions. Good luck Dad. 😂😂
Very Nice James! Love the mixture of spiecies. Looks awesome! Can't wait until your next video comes out! UA-cam should offer a "Double Thumbs Up option" exspicaly for your videos! 👍👍
Amazing work. Added this to my list of fun projects. The maple blade looks good. I'm a big sci-fi geek so a black blade maybe walnut would work as well. Now you need to make a shield to go with it and maybe a full suit of armor later lol.
Hello friend, excellent work, very beautiful, congratulations. Are the plans for building this sword no longer available on the website? I couldn't find it there. Att.
always learn so much from you videos. weather it's a technique or experience. can you do a video on the different ways to join wood together. like with buscuits, dowels, rabbits, or with fasteners. witch ones you like don't like. thanks. how do I get to your patreon page, is there a link somewhere
Hi Tommy! Than you so much for the kind compliment! Here is my Patreon page: www.patreon.com/KingsFineWoodworking Making a video on those different joinery types is a great idea! I bet a lot of people might like that. My video projects are scheduled in for the next 3 weeks, but I think I'll put that in the schedule right after. Thanks again, James
looks really nice, and nice combination of woods. All I'd say as a tip would be to make it smaller and refine the blade shape a bit, it's well made but very large in width and thickness. Ofcourse a wooden sword will be thicker than a steel one can be but still shaving a bit more off wouldn't hurt it. Very nice gift though, bet she was very happy.
Well James, I trust all is good! And rest assured, with a sword like that, she is no damsel in distress at the midevial festivities ! hope ya didn't tell her to knock'em dead!

Hey James, I have your thirz hammer and would love to add a sword to my collection.
How much would it cost to buy one?
"You can't take an untested weapon to battle" is just dad's way of saying "I wanna play with it, too."
Nice piece plus I love to see daddy's who are not too busy to do something nice for their kids. They won't be that age long. love them hard while they will let you.
God Bless my friend.
Thank you. And I completely agree.
Love that you're such a family man! Your narration reflects your comfortable approach to woodworking that makes others less intimidated to take on such projects! Keep up the great work! I look forward to all your videos!
Hi Matt! Thank you, that's very kind!
That sword is awesome
What a great dad and woodworker! Her smile at the end makes it all worth it!!!
Thank you!

Amazing. What a lucky girl to have a dad so talented. I'm striving for this level of tools and knowledge
I just sat for 20+ minutes and watched a sword being built. I have no need for a sword nor do I have the tools to build this. Keep it up man!!! So satisfying to watch an artist at work!! Currently in the process of building a solid workbench!

This kind of effort on an ornamental piece is the sign of a craftsman Mr. King.
I'm sure your daughter was very proud of daddy and the sword and enjoyed the fair even more. What a great memory!!
Thats a nice dad-hr daughter should be proud of your workmanship
Thank you very much!

It's cool how you let your whole family to help with your project

I haven't heard a Highlander reference in a long long time! Thx for helping me to remember that show!
Dru 86 I was thinking more about the movies, but the show was pretty good :) happy it sparked a memory.
love you calm explanation and your helpers are awesome (and not argumentative)

Excellent, Excellent!!
Thank you, thank you!
Wow, that looks great! Fantastic work.
Thank you very much!
Beautiful!
very cool! I want to make one just to chop the fruits! Looks like fun!
It was a blast! We had a clean sheet of plastic that caught most of it, and then we had a barbecue & ate the fruit after!
lol "This isn't a toy, its a serious killing weapon" What a cool dad!
haha. Thank you!
Cute ending! Thanks you guys.
Thank you!
Thank you. Very inspiring video. I really like your work.
Thank you! I appreciate it.
I am a welder and blacksmith and I have to say this is very nice. I would really like one for myself to be honest.
Great vid James. That’s a nice broadsword! I’m sure your daughter impressed anyone at the party! Loved the last testing bit too. Gotta test it hahaha. Cuts really good doesn’t it!
Just WOW amazing job.
Thank You!
If you temper it it will hold an edge better.... Great project, I remember making wooden swords a kid and this inspired me to go out into the shop and make one for my boy.
Haha! Yes, tempering! How could I forget? Haha!
It's longer than she is tall! Great build!
Great video. I think putting some brass at the center of the pummel would have made it look even better.
Good idea.
Awesome T-Shirt!
Great sword!, I can't believe you only have 13k subscribers!.....Keep up the good work!....
Thank you.
You were a little aggressive on that disk sander, gotta be careful not to take the temper out of the wood.
Haha! Thank you very much. I wouldn't want the wood to lose any of its hardness.
hahahahaha
That...was brilliant. Nice bit of knife maker's humour.

Yeah, its pretty crazy. I polished it down to 20,000 grit on my diamond sharpening stone. Haha
King's Fine Woodworking lol

Haha! That would be quite a project to do a suit of armor.
@@KingsFineWoodworking Hello 4 years later!
Beautiful piece of work! Clicked on the link for the plans, but they weren't there. I'd like to make this for a wall hanger. Keep up the good work!!
Thank you very much! Sorry, no plans for that.
So cool!
Thank you!
Very well done - thanks so much for sharing your work! It inspires me as I'm recovering from my own projects! :)
Haha! Thank you!
تحياتي لك من تطوان المغرب
A fine looking sword that would have been worthy of Brynhildr herself. :) I hope your daughter had fun at the Ren Faire.
She sure did Matt. Thanks
I love this project. I am very mach a beginner and would love to know what you use to clean the sanding dust off your projects between coat of finish?
Hi David! I use a tack cloth. You can also use a clean cloth with a bit of mineral spirits or alcohol on it.
I really liked it
Just seen this and i had to subscribe and i did .
Hello friend, excellent work, very beautiful, congratulations. Are the plans for building this sword no longer available on the website? I couldn't find it there. Att.
well done!
great work Sir
Thank you!
I think this is my favorite of your videos. DEATH TO THE VEGETABLES & FRUITS! LOL :) Thank you for the great video.

Watermelons - the Bane of Pit Haters! Great build on the sward.
Haha. Thank you!
You cannot use too much glue and after sanding make sure you have a nice... 'Microjig' lol.Another great video James, thank you mate
Thank you my friend!
Love the build. Lol. I do like pineapples though. Poor pineapple got a double chop. Love the family getting into the build. So jealous. 😉
Really nice brother I was hoping you were going to wrap that handle in some leather but that's ok looks great 👍
I hadn't even thought of leather, that would have been great!
Micro jig! Maker of the gripper, work safe, work smarter
Very nice
I really liked this project, there's nothing like making things for/with kids. What brand double sided tape do you use, and where do you get it?
Thank you very much. I get the tape from Amazon. It is double sided gaffer tape amzn.to/2uFVa2r
looks really nice, and nice combination of woods.

Dang, my Ren Faire just ended! Goals for next season :)
looks great! really well done :> you might want to add a wrap on the grip though, it seems like it might be a little uncomfortable to handle
Well James,
I trust all is good!
And rest assured, with a sword like that, she is no damsel in distress at the midevial festivities !
hope ya didn't tell her to knock'em dead!
She survived just fine and didn't have to cut anyone in half. Haha.
Cool Beans
