Thank you for making such a detailed video. Your method of making an oval handle is pretty genius. I will be using that for sure!! My kids are going to love these!!
So good to see you back !! We've missed you ! As always your work is beautiful, both the sword and the video ! So nice to watch ! thank you very much for what you bring to youtube ! Your skills are so good ! I love the way you talk, quietly, with a very warm voice ! years after discovering you, it is still a great pleasure to watch your creations !
I learnt a lot,,Thank you for some great tips, It saves me braining away..Especially the handle (lathe & table saw) which I can use also for alternative wood wand making.( I use up all my waste wood on wands.
I have seen wood sword work but I must say that yours is by far exceptional, beautiful work. I would love to see if in the possibilities how you would make a Rapier (one of my favorite swords). thank you for your hard work and for sharing with us.
Thank you for the kind words. I've also wanted to make a Rapier, and for sure it would be challenging, and I imagine only possible with some careful wood-bending to achieve the detailed hilt. I do hope to make and share one someday.
Have you tried laminating 3 thin layers together for the blade? This would help to strengthen the blade and keep it straight. It could add an interesting detail if different color woods are used.
This is a great suggestion, I'm sure of it cuz I've shown it in some other videos. I have a katana and gladius builds that use multi-laminations, and the results are great. Check out some of my other vids and thanks for the suggestion!
Hi, i have made a lot of wooden swords, all of them with hand tools, i am getting a workshop with machines soon tho, i really like your content, and would love to see some more videos where you not only make swords, but also try to explore the best way of making them more durable, if one wants to use them for fencing. A technique i want to try myself, when i get my planer up and running, is to laminate the swords like in your gladius video, but put some thought into the wood species i choose, and laminate my swords in several layers of up to 3 wood species, with different hardness, and flexibility properties, to create a good balance so that the sword does not break as easily, for example the edge made of Ipe (which i hoarded some planks of), and the sides made of medium hardness wood, like ash or teak meant for bows. Enough rambling about swords now tho, another thing i would love to see you make, is a community server on a platform like FB or Discord where wooden sword enthusiasts would be able to share their progress, ideas and templates, i have been thinking about making one myself, but its quite a niche thing, and its hard to gather a large group, that would be much easier for you to do. Anyways, if you have any videos coming up, im looking forward to them. Kind regards from denmark :)
Awesome to hear you are upgrading some of your tools soon. Mine has been a 20 year journey building up the tools. I agree with you, laminating several boards should be a great way to add strength. I appreciate the vote for making some HEMA or other contact worthy swords, I don't practice myself, but have made a few that should work for contact sparing. I probably don't have the personality to keep a Discord going, but I appreciate the vote of confidence all the same, thank you very kindly for your thoughtful words. Cheers!!
I used your videos a few years ago to make the broadsword and longsword. They turned out great. I am now ready to get back into it and would love your plans for this one if possible. Oh and I love the new method for making the handle, pummel, and guard. Can't wait to try that method. Any tips you might have, I would greatly appreciate. :) Happy New Year :)
I would like to know what kind of woods the sword and scabbard was made of. Nice to see different ways and approaches was taken to make this piece of art.
Thanks much! I really haven't created any outside of these video builds, but I do have a video showing some tips for modeling your own, and please let me know what kind you'd like to see
Thanks much! I don't remember which bit, but for a shallow curve, a 2-3" panel bit with a very gentle curve or slope will give you these results. Be sure to run it at slower speeds, those large bits are frikin scary! Cheers!
soo cool. really makes me want to go in the shop right away.. i am wondering how exactly you are doing the transition from the oval handle to the round pummle though did you file it round at the bottom?
while this looks AMAZING and i know its decorative.... seeing sword even if its made from wood and decorative or any other bladed weapon with a perfectly round handle increases my blood pressure by 15% atleast, still very impressive
Haha, you are in good company, many people are not fans of a round handle, but perhaps you missed the part where I made it oval. In any case, thanks for your feedback!
Can’t tell you how much I appreciate watching your videos! Hope to see a lot more!
Well, thanks much, I appreciate you saying so.

@@GeeksWoodShop you deserve it ! your work is truly amazing !
Amazing craftsmanship! I've missed these builds 😁
Many thanks
I didn't know I needed this video in my morning, but I'm glad it was here
Thanks Donovan, anything to help the morning along, eh?
I've made some wood swords in the past, and really like your technique. especially the lathe bits. I will definitely use that next time. Nice job.
Thanks! It's definitely fun to explore some new ideas and find a technique that works, hope yours turn out awesome!
That leaf blade design is great. Awesome build!!
Thanks my friend, you've been cooking up your own sweet builds lately
@@GeeksWoodShop What about the Scabbard design?
Interesting! We made wooden swords when we were kids, but nothing so realistic or cool as what you are doing here! Great job. Interesting project. 😍

I wish you would sell a sell like this because it is hard to find some for a ren faire. I love your work!
Thanks much for saying so. A ren faire sounds so fun, have never been to one.

Man this is awesome work. Ive been looking to buy something like this but nobody is selling anything nearly as well made as this piece
nice! made a few wooden swords myself. similar methods but learnt a few things too. Thanks!
Awesome, thanks!
Nice job Tyson, looks really great.
Thanks Keggy
Missed your vids. Glad you are back🙌🍾
As always, awesome sword. Looks pretty amazing 😎 👌
Thanks, been too long for sure.

Great build! Nice to see another video my friend!
Thanks John, darn it all that these videos are too few. Nice work on your own builds over on IG
Big fan of your work. Would love to see more !
Thanks! I appreciate you saying so, hope I can get some projects up more often.
Great video great woodworking. Sword.
Nicely done!
Thanks Brian, not quite up to your custom furniture, but still fun

amazing art, would really appreciate if you make a Sentinel Prime PRIMAX SWORD.
Is that the sword from Transformers? Wow, that would be quite the build, especially from wood. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@GeeksWoodShop Yeah Transformers Part 3! Thanks for the reply Geek. Hope you're doing good pal! ✌
Hi DANIEL wow its awsome that sword
Its great!
id leave the tang of the sword atleast 3 quarter inches thick for strength at the cross gaurd, beautiful blade and handle work tho
I was very excited to get the notification that you had uploaded another video!! You are so talented!! Thank you for sharing your craft with us!!
Haha, well, can't let you have ALL the fun!
That is absolutely amazing...
Awesome! You make it all look so easy!
Ha! Thanks Aaron
This is so cool!
Thanks
make more videos, love them
Thanks for saying so!
That looks amazing mate! Well done :) Makes me want to get into the workshop and build something!
Thanks, get on out there
Bout damn time!! Love it dude!💪
Haha, you are so right, but thanks
maybe a sword staff?
Merci beaucoup, j adore faire des épées pour mon fils et vos video sont tres inspirantes !
Je suis content de l'entendre !
I'm super into your templates. Is there a way i could buy more or just get more sword designs in general?
Thanks much! I really haven't created any outside of these video builds, but I do have a video showing some tips for modeling your own, and please let me know what kind you'd like to see
Amazing work!!!
What are the measurements for the wooden Scabbard with wooden sword leaf shaped blade? Is there Dropbox of the wooden Scabbard?
Do you think you could make an Egyptian Kopesh that's fantasy inspired
I'd guess so. I'd think that blade shape would need to be made with some laminations, but it would be interesting for sure
Very nice 👌
I have a suggestion
Why don’t you make a bow and arrow and quiver
It's awesome
Have you ever made samurai swords with scabbard or maybe a buster sword would be awesome
I have made a katana in another video, not the monster buster sword though. That one is a beast!
@@GeeksWoodShop less of a beast in wood though I would imagine
Absolutely stunning mate . I dont suppose you could send me the link to "whoch" router bit you used
Cheers

@@GeeksWoodShop thanks. They ain't cheap by the looks of things :/
@@paulbateman5769 Sigh, they definitely are not.
I think this build was amazing but a wood love to see you build a shamshir. It’s a Iranian sword used during the first Persian empire
Thanks! Ya, a shamshir would be fun, the deep curve of the blade could be an interesting challenge
@@GeeksWoodShop I understand if you have other projects going on but would really like to see a video on it thanks 🙏
what router tool is generally used for the blade please?
It's me, Daniel Du Plessis.
What kind of wood do you use i want to make this
What is the name and size of the giant chamfer router bit you use to make the blades sides?
Raised panel bit. I'm not sure the exact style or dimensions though.
Dropbox Scabbard pdf with leaf blade sword.
Do you have a pattern available for that blade? I really like the look of that one.
I haven't put one together, but I'll try to do so in the next few days. Thank you
I'm a month late, but finally updated the description with a pattern. Cheers!
@@GeeksWoodShop What about the Scabbard?
Do you sell your templates if so where can I get them and how much are they
On several of my sword videos I've linked to some free templates, for now that's what's available.
soo cool. really makes me want to go in the shop right away.. i am wondering how exactly you are doing the transition from the oval handle to the round pummle though did you file it round at the bottom?
Not a transition really, the pommel is purely round, so they just meet up, but sill very comfortable. Thanks
가지고 싶네요.그검
a sword will be much sturdier if the handle is made in another way
while this looks AMAZING and i know its decorative.... seeing sword even if its made from wood and decorative or any other bladed weapon with a perfectly round handle increases my blood pressure by 15% atleast, still very impressive
