Brotherhood follows the manga to a T where as the original goes in a completely different direction and is loosely related to the manga. The humor is gone from the later episodes of Brotherhood because the manga got seriously dark later on. In my mind the series are equal as one is manga canon and the other became its own separate continuity. One is not better than the other as they're both good in different ways.

No joke, I still have a hard time seeing this as *just* a fan cover, cause I still swear I heard this version open an episode to FMA 03 on TV as a kid.
Still, it's definitely an amazing cover of, in my opinion, one of the best FMA openings.

Yeah Brotherhood was good at first, but got less funny later on.
Brotherhood follows the manga to a T where as the original goes in a completely different direction and is loosely related to the manga. The humor is gone from the later episodes of Brotherhood because the manga got seriously dark later on. In my mind the series are equal as one is manga canon and the other became its own separate continuity. One is not better than the other as they're both good in different ways.
