I am Buddhist and I value my practice but I draw the line at guru devotion and monasticism. I have a deep mistrust of monks and monastics. They are so isolated from conventional society that they don't even recognize abuse. Everything they say and do isn't questioned because they are "enlightened".

Well then you have a problem with Buddhism, because the entire teaching comes from monks, lol.
Guru yoga is not about worship, many people get this confused. It's about connecting your mind stream to that of enlightened teachers, that way you can have the same level of purification and realizations as they do.
Veneration of your guru is fine. Even praying to the guru for blessings is fine, but worship is not fine. Pray just means to make a request to your guru, it does not imply worship.

@@namkhatsogyal How can I prove if someone is enlightened or not? Guru yoga is not really done on any teachers that are alive for the most part. Usually it's done on people like Padmasambhava, who were known to be enlightened.

I am sure you are going to get lot of subscribers for mentioning Dalai Lama on your title and throwing dirt on him. But my faith in Buddhism will not change because some psycho westerners.

THAT IS NOT HOW REALITY WORKS, THERE IS NO EVIDENCE, AND THERE NEVER WILL BE ANY EVIDENCE OF SOULS MIGRATING FROM ONE HUMAN BODY TO THE NEXT. People are being taken advantage of thanks to these demonstrably false ideas. Do yourself a favor and educate yourself a little more before you get brainwashed and piss away your life savings to people who will never care about you the way they claim they do.

Dalai is not like Pope of Catholics. He is one of the many incarnate Lama. He belongs to Geluk school and there are 4 other schools or sect within Tibetan Buddhism.
Technically speaking he is not even the head of Geluk. Each sect has its own head Lama and disciplinarian. Even within each sect there are subsects.
So Dalai Lama is not responsible for misvehaviour of monks.
He is responsible only for about 175 monks of Namgyal monastery which is his personal monastery.
But he has spoken the importance of proper conduct of monks in general and especially of incarnate Lama.
There are so who many ready pounce on the Dalai Lama. The prominence of Dalai Lama has become significant since the middle of 17th century as he held political power.
Each monastery and sects control and supervise their monks.

I personally do not believe in celibacy as an institution. If a person wants to be celibate, I see that as a personal choice, not something to be institutionalized. There are some people who naturally are not interested in sex, celibacy is for those people.
Trying to force people to become celibate, will create problems like what this video speaks of. By the time Buddha decided he wanted to become a sramana, he had already lived a verfy full life, and was ready to give it up as he has experienced every pleasure already, so he got his fill of life's pleasures before renouncing them.
But for someone who has been indoctrinated since childhood, that's not the same thing, I don't believe in that. The Buddha didn't do that either, and neither did Guru Rinpoche. Becoming a monk should be only a decision made by someone who is an adult.

Helo, Dalai Lama is not president of Buddhist and not responsible of Tibetan monastery and monks also. Monastery and monks they have there own responsibility individual don’t try to put Dalai Lama everywhere when there is problem. I stood up against the management company, despite being threaten physically and legally, and managed to terminate their contract and bought a new company in.

The five precepts set by the Buddha are the most basic, and the precepts of lust are the most basic entry common sense. These Rinpoche will actually destroy this most basic precepts, which is not only felony but also incredible.

We( Tibetans) used to believe and still do that there are certain kind of monks who make it big in the West. They cater to the west and are suddenly propped up by western disciples as some great being that we Tibetans don't know about. Sogyal Rimpoche is one like that. He was propped up by the west and gradually with his show of strength in number of western disciples and power impressed upon the Tibetans that he was somebody. So, now its easier to blame Tibetan Buddhism than taking some responsibility on yourselves.

There is also Tantrism in China, which was directly brought over by Indian monks during the Tang Dynasty, and later spread to Japan to become Japanese Tantric Buddhism. Chinese Tantric Buddhism, Japanese Tantric Buddhism, and even Tantric Buddhism in India did not have a "Rinpoche" system. Not even Tibet, before Tsongkhapa of the Gelug sect (teacher of the Dalai Lama and the Panchen Lama).

During the Qing Dynasty, the reincarnation system for the Dalai Lama of Tibet must be decided by the Emperor of the Qing Dynasty. At that time, the very famous Chinese emperor (Qianlong) once said that "the Buddha would not die without birth, and the Rinpoche system was only a system of human intervention." It really makes sense to come to this emperor now.

Because he was found too late in that life, he did not like to practice Buddhism after he registered as a lama. As Ramana Maharshi told very clearly : "There is no sex in the SELF. Be the Self and then you will have no sex troubles".
So if they were truly enlightened (i.e if they were abiding in the SELF) no abuse would be possible, that is the thing because all desires are then dissolved.
But as I am in a female body in this "lifetime", I have noticed that certain tantric practices and the management of sexual energy are very difficult for the vast majority of men to deal with due to terrible distortions of the elemental kingdom on this planet. To play with these elemental forces is very very tricky and so these men are generally trapped when they try to use the lower kundalini currents for spiritual purposes. Very few pass the test and if your are on a so-called spiritual path you will be able to observe this everywhere.
And why do very few pass the test? Well, the answer is simple: because they are already driven by the desire to acquire power in one form or another. They are already corrupt and approach spirituality from a distorted angle. Wanting to gain something spiritually is the great illusion. Seeking God (which is not external but the very core of our Being) for anything other than the sake of Love is a sign of profund ignorance and we are in the time of great delusion...
What we see in the world are only projections of the distorsions of the collective : these men (and perhaps sometimes women) are just revelators/indicators of the distorsions within our collective field. To blame others without doing the job of purification within oneself is another distorsion based on the false belief that there exist a world/other beings existing by themselves out there separated from our own mind. This false belief has to be investigated deeply.
May all human beings gain clarity, may all sentient beings be happy, in peace and free from distorsions 🙏

Basically, KRISHNA is the SELF but if we speak about this incarnated being called Krishna, he was most probably a very magnetic and beautiful person, but this is does not say much about his intentions, desires and actual behavior, even if he is depicted as a so-called "playboy".
An enlightened being (even if this expression is not correct) can be a genuine tantrika and in this context, sex is not view as common people understand sex. Sexual energy can be used as a raw creative potential to be transmutated for the spiritual benefit of the two souls involved and loving each other, and not just for the benefit of one of them - and its correlated entitie(s)- as in the case of sexual abuse or misconduct.

I do not deny abuse from lamas. It is very real. I was psychologically abused by a narcissistic root guru. I left him after only three month because I realized he was a scam. But the situation is not so simple to describe. In my case initially was my confusion that made me fall into his trap. But I know I have my buddha-nature inside me that has always been guiding me in my life. I can see this every moment.. Buddhism is about your buddha nature not lamas, tulkus, etc. All of these are traps, they were never ever posited by our historical Buddha Shakyamuni. What I'm saying is this: before you search for an external guidance from a guru, or, even worse, join a community, study many many scriptures on your own, and always keep in mind "the four reliances".

I'm not denying the corruption within some religions and those figures that are in positions of power. By the way, there are studies/research undertaken by some universities in the US regarding reincarnation, look it up! There is even a documentary about it.
I'm not imposing reality on anyone, just reminding people of it. Especially the danger of deifying people and putting them on a pedestal higher than one's self.
And I guarantee those studies on reincarnation are false. Just because the First Law of Thermodynamics shows that matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed, and we're all in fact made up of atoms that most likely made up other life forms, that does not mean there are actual souls migrating from bodies to bodies.
And much less between children and deceased "lamas", and particularly those children that are then separated from their families and often times molested or at the very least traumatized from being denied being raised by their biological parents, particularly the mother.
If I come across as condescending it's only because I have yet to learn how to overcome the contempt I have for false ideas that all too many people continue falling for thanks to bad faith actors who knowingly push them and how that affects all our lives in one way or another.
So many problems could be solved and avoided altogether if more people learned to distinguish between what is false and what is reality, and especially between good ideas and predictably ruinous ones.

I am not a religious person but I am a person of faith. Religion is corrupted through a governmental co-dependence, and the two cannot be separated. Eastern faith doctrines have been impacted by hostile invasions by outsiders. Hindu vedic traditions as much as Tibetan Buddhist practices have suffered under the violent traumas incurred (Have studied both Ayurveda and REIKI as healing modalities). The importance here is the ability to face the truth being prescribed and develop BOUNDARIES as to what you will personally tolerate. Moreover you are never tied to one guru, you have choice to step in, express your disappointments, and move away and continue your exploration! If you see something was not right in the beginning, why do you still join them? If you were unfairly treated, mistreated, and harrassed why don't you leave the master, and report him and his community to their Admins, and local authorities? His Holiness is lead guru in Gelukpa and is respected for his prominence in all aspects, but he does not run your articular center( period). Many of these private centers have no root association to His Holiness not to Tibetan communities. Many of them act independently, and some even are restricted cults entities of their own making, and community! Please leave His Holiness and greater Tibetan community out of this mess!

to validate if a buddhist teacher is legit, one should evaluate his/her conduct according to the buddhist precepts. in the case of the Dalai Lama, one should study his past when he was residing in Tibet. He launched a war against the government of China, had his lamas carrying weapons and guns, this is breaking the precepts of intention to harm. The people of Tibet were poor and many were made slaves to the caste system. Whereas the Dalai Lama and his cronies lived like kings with great wealth, all these are against the buddhist conducts. To me, the Dalai Lama claims to be a virtuous person, but he doens't seem behave like one. He should be removed as a person of influence.

Well i went to sri lanka in 1987 AD as a nepalese buddhist monk at the age of 13. At that time sri lanka was a killing field with communist JVP civil war in the south and Tamil Iilam civil war in the north. And they call themselves a buddhist country. I stayed there until 1997 and after completing bachelors from Peradeniya university i returned . I got to know monks from all over the country because i lived in large monks hostel where monks from all corners of the country resided to study. So my understanding is that there is hardly any monk who joined monkhood after puberty. Allmost everybody joined at very young age of 9 or 10. They are all utilized for sexual activity by senior monks because that is the only sexual outlet for monks who are supposed to be celebate. But nobody feel victimized because everybody considers it to be normal. The monks who are doing the act learned it when they were very young themselves . So how do you fault them. Sri lanka is a very sexually repressed society and nobody talk about sex openly . I hardly saw any advertisement of condoms or family planning . So this activity in monasteries also kept as a secret. Things might be changing now. Many youtubers are starting to talk about corrupt activities in monasteries. One youtuber was jailed recently for insulting tooth relic temple who also talked about monks corrupt activities .

Good reporting, but would be better without the personal bias. There are plenty of people who come to sophisticated spiritual conclusions by doing lengthy investigation and experimentation that deconstructs mental conditioning to such an extent that it unlocks higher level perception, also known as higher consciousness. Thinking of the nondual traditions like advaita and shaivism. The practices encourage students to doubt and be skeptical and not stop until they either find the answer or eliminate alternatives. The purpose is to deconstruct whatever can be deconstructed, and they also learn to soften and widen perception so to shift from individual to collective awareness. Once this change takes place, it is an architectural difference that is irreversible and the individual is said to be realized or enlightened. What is available to be known at the higher levels of consciousness is mostly beyond the mind and the seed thought of separation that creates a thick filter of distortion. A lower level of consciousness cannot comprehend it because the mind cannot comprehend what it is not. This is like a 2 dimensional being trying to understand a 3 dimensional world. It's not possible until the 3d nature is revealed to the 2d being. It's absolutely sickening when these abuses take place because there should not be any hierarchy or idolatry for something that belongs to all people. The over reliance on devotion and obedience gives rise to all this nonsense.
