Alex Gray Removing the secondary cats gives you less Power and the sound will be more crispy than now. I would leave the cats and put race or sport mufflers Magnaflow, Dinan, Meisterschaft, OneOnly or Eisenmann.

It all depends on how they were maintained from the previous owner. I replaced my rod bearings at 115k and they looked fine, so no I would say that’s not necessarily true but will be true for those that weren’t treated well. It’s worth it if you have a few thousand set aside for emergencies.
Alex,...she screams! Say,...Why the black wheels,?...the "Interlagos Blue" dress looks better with the chromed OEM high heels! Note, I picked up an '10 Blk/Blk e60,....with "Muffler Delete" done,...the cold start is startling! Very Loud!!!
The last year of the m5, very nice! I agree sometimes I wish my wheels were silver again. But the black wheels made it look a lot more aggressive having dark windows and the black kidney grilles.
No I was afraid to install the tube without having done my bearings. I just got the car back from getting the rod bearings replaced so I’ll be doing the tune here soon
Great vid Alex... but please think again if you really want to remove the 2ndary cats... its makes the car sound much more metallic shittier... your car now sounds perfect! every single M5 ive heard with either a Eisenmann RACE or muffler delete & 2ndary cats removed sounded like crapp! very thinny/metallic sound..... which ruins the lovely singing of the S85 completely.. IMHO

So my theory was to remove the secondary cats, which would make it louder, but then adding mufflers to quiet it back down to what it is now but maybe slightly changing the tone. Not worth it you think?
IMHO big no go... the removal of the 2nd cats.. give the car a very thinny metallic sound.. which i personally hate... 80% of the S85 cars on youtube i dont like soundwise.. yours sounds very similiair to mine (just eisenmann RACE) if i were you i wouldnt change a thing.. maybe add a carbon airbox or Eventuri intake... ( i have both) i will send you a clip sometime soon when the car is back on the road...

The muffler delete is just the two rear mufflers removed and a straight pipe welded in place out to the tips. And the x pipe is a pipe in the shape of an x near the middle of the car. From the factory the car comes with an H pipe, but it is tiny. So I replaced it with the X pipe. The X pipe is just to change the sound a little bit. Makes it sound a little more exotic in my opinion.
awesome, thanks for the info. I Just flashed my E60 M5 2006 43k miles yesterday with the Evolve tune and it rocks, much more responsive and smooth, specially the shifting, which I did not expect.
Wow that’s good to hear, makes me excited to tune mine. I have the fast attack motorsports tune that I have not had time to install. I’m sure the results will be about the same as the Evolve. Didn’t know these tunes made the shifts smoother, will be nice considering how the smg is.
