  • The Devils River runs through the middle-of-nowhere Texas. Paddle trips require a two-hour drive to hit water and then it’s 47.7 miles of slow-moving pools, quick rapids, and some of the most pristine fishing in the Lone Star State. Join fly-fishing guide Alvin Dedeaux and tournament fisher Miles Burghoff as they take on the Devils River and connect over their shared love of angling.

    I think Alvin could use a little more screen time in our internet outdoor adventures, between his episode on Das Boot and this little gem, he really strikes me as a guy that gets it. I will definitely look for more of him.

    Those hills and buttes are limestone laid down 100mya when the sea covered much of south Texas. Eventually tectonic forces lifted up the sea bed and exposed it, and the shoreline eventually wound up where it is now, on the Gulf of Mexico.

    Love Yeti. Love all these American Stories and heritage-would be amazing to see you use more of the roto-molding factories here in the USA and less in China and the philipines. Seems like your margins would support 100% USA manufacturing.....amazing work though. THE best content marketing in consumer goods hands down. Inspiring.

    they made it sound like you have to drive through miles of desert trails to get there. the 90 freeway takes you there and even crosses it. and there is a town called lake view right next to it.

    • @AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing
      @AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing 3 роки тому

      HWY 90 crosses the Pecos not the Devil's. Lake view is on Lake Amistad. That's about 40 miles down river and across the lake from where we were. Google is your friend.

    • @KitamusPrime
      @KitamusPrime 2 роки тому

      Comstock is the town next to it. You take a right on 90 in Comstock and takes you to Bakers Crossing which is the drop off. LakeView isn't a town, it's a subdivision of Del Rio in county. I live in the area lol. It's not that it's far from anything, but most of it is not accessible because it is almost entirely private land which makes it so prestine and untouched. It has a few state park camping areas, but that's it.

    At the beginning, it looked like there was two cords coming off the front of the kayak while they were going down a shoal. Was that just to make sure they followed a certain line for the camera footage? Or did it serve another purpose?

      Usually, they'll have a pickup point however many miles down the river.

    • @scottmonroe68
      @scottmonroe68 7 років тому +3

      No, put in up river, take out miles down. There are 2 put in options and 2 take out options. The whole navigable length from Baker's Crossing to Rough Canyon on Lake Amistad is 47.7 miles. This 4 day trip used to be the only option until the state opened 2 natural areas about 1/3 and 2/3 of the way. One of the more tiring aspects of going all the way to Amistad is the frequent head winds you have to paddle against once you reach the still water.
