Rick has been playing some really good golf here lately, but he's got to find a way to get out of his own way! Play the shot in front of you and then forget about it, especially if it's a mistake.

Most famous last words were always, "Hey y'all - WATCH THIS!!"... but they have been replaced by, "Would a mouse do THIS?!?!?". Absolutely killed me. Looks like a beautiful course that would be a blast to play, although I do agree with James that blind tee shots aren't charming or quaint, they are an annoying remnant of a bygone age and they really should be eliminated whenever possible. Great rounds from Rick and James, playing Troon off the VERY back tees is a tough test, for them to both shoot 74 is quite impressive. Definitely different ways to get there (I think Rick had 4 birdies, 3 bogeys, and 2 doubles with only 9 pars; James I believe had 1 birdie, 1 bogey, 1 triple and 15 pars). I do wish Guy had kept playing and recorded a score, just so we could see what a very good recreational player might shoot on an off day... but I imagine once he got up around +11 or +12 he was probably starting to feel a bit embarrassed and didn't want to post a score in the 90s. Great content here, can't wait to see the pros tackle it this week. 🙂
Great watch. Seriously impressed, Rick. One of your best rounds. That 11th (The Railway) is a brutal hole. I went to see the Open with my dad in 1973, the year Tom Weiskopf (RIP) won. We watched the leaders in the stand behind the 11th green. We heard cheers getting nearer and nearer as Nicklaus was making his way round the course. He came to the 11th and hit his second to about 10 ft and holed the putt. In those days, it was a par 5 but still, epic from the master. He was too far back, ended with a 65 in 4th place. Great memories.
Some of the best golf I've seen Rick play. Literally one drive and two short putts from being a great round. Well done James well played.......and Guy ...its the taking part that counts 😉
This what i want more of Rick! You and the boys having a fun round. Being in the USA seeing any course that in your part of the world is always a great watch but even better when you're having a great time, having a laugh and enjoying a rounc even on a tough course! Play well!

Congratulations Rick on breaking 75 on a PGA tournament course, no less! I still maintain that you playing with others goes a LONG way to helping you break through your own headspace and just play the game one shot at a time. Specifically, during this round of break 75, I don't remember you talking to us about the next shot, or the next 2 shots extensively, the way you do in solo videos.
Overthinks most shots... company definitely breaks him out a bit. I wish he'd choose to shape his shots less. Straight is nearly always a better choice
There were quite a few times he's thinking "now I must get up and down to save par." Super focused on the scorecard. I think tee box honors has a lot to do with it. Not so much in the "I want them" context, but more so in the "must tally each hole as we go". I often wonder how UToobers would play if they weren't keeping a running score.

@@nickthebold He need to stay in the game, his poor concentration - just playing around - might destroy the other players game too. (Love Guy, but to me, this was a clear fail on his part.)
Good to see different handicap golfers playing a tour course. I believe most club golfers that play these courses would love to play within 10 shots of their handicap
Great round of golf, few things on my mind after this: best golf I’ve seen Rick play, despite a rocky finish. Guy was a bit wordy, which is not nice to contend with during a round. Golf is definitely social but there’s a job to finish on the course. It’s all about a tidy balance of seriousness and banter. Guy’s final nail in the coffin was abandoning his round! One thing I’ll always treasure about Rick is whatever he shoots, he cards a score and remains hopeful until the very last putt. As a mid handicapper myself, I don’t expect to get out there and play like Tiger Woods, but Rick has taught me to always TAKE WHAT YOU GET. That’s why we love this game! Very disappointed by Guy throwing in the towel like that, really poor. Hats off to Jim for playing his golf and staying focused as well, and Rick’s shirt is the grooviest I think I’ve ever seen him wear!
Rick, I’m a huge fan of you. Been watching you for years! Tip: you talked yourself into “everything changing on hole 8”. You said everything could change and I think mentally that shifted your energy to being passive/nervous. Best 7 holes I’ve seen you play in a while. I struggle with negative thinking in golf and I would think if you said “little par 3 postage stamp, let’s stick on close and throw a little dart in there.” Almost self fulfilling prophecy based on our self talk? Food for thought! Love you pal!
Guy! You are the one I relate to the best. I love James and Rick, but you are the comic relief, and we need more of you in these vids! I was so bummed when you stopped keeping score because I thought you weren't going to be in the video as much, but yay you did great! Solid golf gentlemen!
Guy 100% typifies what we all do! When the stress is off and he gave in, he played so much better. Might get me back into it if I just play without scoring! Apart from the obvious hole, James is that classic pro who doesn’t make mistakes and strings together lots of pars. Great video gents.
Love the shows with James - one bad hole from a level par round on a bloody tough course, played so solid. That was a top round from Rick, too - some of those approach shots from the rough on the front nine were dreamy. Great vid!
I absolutely love it when guy bigs himself up details exactly how to play the shot..... Then shanks it or smashes it out of bounds, this game bites back guy😂
I get that guy is not top notch but it's almost like he's scared to take it serious so instead he acts like a court jester and tries to act like it doesn't matter. Maybe less talking would help. Otherwise, great stuff out of Rick!
How is he still getting a gig with Rick here?! Easily the worst part of this channel. Gobby, rubbish banter, reckons he can take on pros, excuse merchant… Get him back behind the camera ffs

@@nickthebold He need to stay in the game, his poor concentration - just playing around - might destroy the other players game too. (Love Guy, but to me, this was a clear fail on his part.)
@@nicktheboldridiculous comment imo you’re now a content creator and are there to play 18 not ‘just have fun’ very poor form to not finish
i agree - he has as much charisma as a wet brick.
You have to finish, to quit is totally wrong.
Love the casual nature of this one. Would love to see more of the crew get involved a little in the videos like you had in this one.
Rick has that Ping putter rolling pure!
His original review wasn't THAT glowing...but his putting has been top notch
Absolutely love it when James joins the group. More of him as his time/schedule permits, please.
Hopefully the course gets a bit faster. Love a huge run out at The Open
Great video, but Guyannoys the life out of me.
Me too, he's definitely someone who likes the sound of their own voice
Yep
@irishmarc struggling with the podcast because of Jim.
Guy! You are the one I relate to the best. I love James and Rick, but you are the comic relief, and we need more of you in these vids! I was so bummed when you stopped keeping score because I thought you weren't going to be in the video as much, but yay you did great! Solid golf gentlemen!
Guy quits keeping score and subsequently makes birdie 😁That's golf.
The only two barstool golfers I care to watch with one of the best videos of the year. Couldn't get any better!
What a round Rick! James and Guy were good company as well, those OB tee shots and Guy's reaction had me rolling 🤣
The trick is to double tap the 10 sec button whenever Guy is swinging or talking.
I love this suggestion. Makes the videos much more bearable
BRILLIANT video Rick ! So good to see how tough Troon is and will be for the field this week , some fantastic shots between you all.
So it's Guy with Producer Rick now
Beautiful course! Been one of my favorite ones to watch all year
Can you upload a version where we have the option to mute/skip Guy? 🤦♂️😂
This was a really interesting watch. Im new to golf and listening to an experienced group just play and talk was very helpful.
I get that guy is not top notch but it's almost like he's scared to take it serious so instead he acts like a court jester and tries to act like it doesn't matter. Maybe less talking would help. Otherwise, great stuff out of Rick!
Some of the best golf Rick’s played in a long time. Love to see it
Have to be honest, would love to be able to mute Guy. Sorry Guy.
I lost all respect for him when he stopped keeping score. I hope his wife watches this video and does the right thing.
How is he still getting a gig with Rick here?! Easily the worst part of this channel. Gobby, rubbish banter, reckons he can take on pros, excuse merchant…
Get him back behind the camera ffs
@@MosesMal0n3 I don't think he bats for the other team. He just needs to man-up when he's not playing well. We all need to suck it up, no pun intended, when we're not striking it well.
@@yourenchantedgiftssimply put! Take what you get, easy as.
Great video - superstar golf from Rick, 74 on an open course he hadn't played that week, absolutely amazing
Guy has to be one of THE most annoying people of all time. A close 1st ahead of Rick. James FTW!
The energy in this intro was exquisite. Thanks for the great content through all these years Rick❤️
Would love to have a hype man like Guy for every round I play "Gorgeous, great shot, beauty that, well done mate, players will bite your hand off for that in the open". The man
knows where his bread is buttered
Break 80, 75, 70 are the best videos you make! The pre-major and fairly recent pre Ryder cup content is unmatched.
The guy with the most screen time talking about his shots doesn't even finish scoring... We are here for Rick and JR...
Rick was absolutely on fire this round. Great to watch him play his A game on such a challenging course.
I love videos with Rick and James. Can’t say the same with Guy. Too much talking most of the time.
YES! Guy needs to take a back seat, he is always trying to hog the camera and talk talk talk, just be the background Guy Please!
@@MRbjr8 You took the words right out of my mouth! Well said. 👏🏼
Guy managed 3 weeks of talking in 2 hours on this video 😳
Well said
Cringy
Yes mate. I just commented about asking for a mute button for him. He's like a toddler that can't shut up. Except a toddler is a lot more interesting.
It's just way too much drivel from him
I feel he just can’t shut up , my daughter is the same but she’s 7 , he just has to say something about something. I’m sometimes put off watching when he’s playing
Loved this guys. James and Rick playing some lovely golf ...
Can’t be moaning on the pod about how “we want to see a normal guy would score at these major venues” and then bail when it’s not going well 👎
Absolutely love the videos that James are in. Always class ❤
Guys cockyness really hurts his likeability.
Relax man his just messing around
I hope you’re joking hahaha
@@kostasracinggarage519 he's*
And, he is definitely not. That is the way he is. Watch a few more videos and you'll see.
Thanks for that lads. It's always nice to get an in depth view of an Open venue
I've always had Rick down as a bit of a prat but then along comes Guy and says 'Hold my pint'
What a stunning course that is.. Rick, Spot on... A fighter to the end. James just cruises along with shots that Tiger would be proud of and Guy. A complete blow up but brilliant to watch. Thanks guys. Just wonderful..... PS. " I want to play Royal Troon" ???? No ?🤣
