I wouldnt say thats the case. No matter how much you try, people with time on their hands will crack it. People who pirate games dont necessarily hate the dev or the game itself but cant afford it or want to try it out before they buy a real copy.
@ and I think that’s a problem of the service. Sure yes, there will be the odd one out who always does it. But if a significant number of people pirate your stuff it often means one of the following: - it’s hard to get (eg. Not available in your region) - the experience is worse than when pirating (ads, lower quality, etc.) - you have a bad return policy or a bad track record with quality (games quite often) - your price is too high for the service offered There’s probably some exceptions. But with the majority of the things I think this holds true. Movies: why do I get ads on the blue ray I bought? Streaming: why do I have to subscribe to 10+ streaming services to see a handful of shows? Games: it’s unfinished and buggy and I often can’t return it A lot of these can be traced back to corporate greed
Partly. It's multi facetted. If a service is hard to come by, restricted or otherwise unavailable - people who otherwise would be willing to spend the money, are forced to pirate stuff. Example: GoT was initially only with a huge delay available in Europe. So, people who were perfectly willing to pay resorted to piracy. After the delays were eliminated and there was easy access - the overhwelming majority paid for the service. The other prong is: peopla can't afford a service. It's a poverty problem. Sure you can make the point that people who can't afford something shouldn't have that. But that can mean to restrict large portions of the population from very basic entertainment and information... for basically no reason. It's not like the product hasn't created enough revenue to pay for itself multiple times over.
Hey man, firstly thank you for making this, I live in a much more fortunate country, but even so, having grown up poor and living at the ass end of the world (australia), this video really resonated with me. Hope you're able to keep going and hold onto your dreams, and fuck all the billionaires who care more for their bank accounts than the lives of real people.
As PirateSoftware has said numerous times, Piracy is a problem of economics. When he says that he means that some people pirate a video game because they don't have the money to buy it and once they do have the money they do buy the game (there is a small number of people that pirate games to try them and if they like it then they will buy it), or the game isn't offered in their region and the only way to play the game is to pirate it. As an example, PirateSoftware usually mentions how in Brazil he prices his games much lower because $20 isn't the same there as in America and that once he priced his game at a reasonable level for their economy it wasn't pirated as much and bought much more. Keep up the hard work, and good luck on future endeavors.
I am a Canadian living in Argentina and its a vastly different kind of living and I understand where you are coming from. Over the last few years the inflation has crawled up and things that used to cost so little are now more expensive than it was back in Canada. I don't know how normal people are surviving.
Well. You're clever. You'll make it. You have all it needs to learn anything and as you said, the knowledge is out there and solely the fact that you too get your infos like this to me and many more people, shows that there is always hope to get out of a mess and make it work! Thanks for sharing and take care. (More strange words are here from an internet-stranger for simple algo boost. This Video needs to keep going)
People who pirate things were likely never able/ going to actually pay for them so its really a non-issue. The fact is that pirating videogames does give you a slightly different experience than actually owning them which combined with the convenience and safety of purchasing a game means that once someone who has pirated in the past is actually able to afford purchasing them instead, they will most likely do that.
I very much felt this. I am not in a 3rd world country so it's not as bad but I am definitely not from a rich country. Buying a game for the actual price feels almost like a joke. There is no regional pricing. To save up enough, you need to save for 2-3 months. I ether pirate or I wait a year or 3 for a game I really like to go on 50% off or more. Funny thing is, I only know I want to buy a game after I've pirated it and played for a long time. So I guess in my case piracy actually helps the suits. Similar with my PC. I saved for 6 years for my current build and it's already kinda out of date. It's a sad state of being for those that do not have extreme privilege.
Ok this is a very complicated problem and idk where to start but its very important it doesnt matter how much money the company does in the end its stealing and i myself did it befor for movies or Tv shows i aint a saint but now comes the problem with the "3rd world countrys" you are humans aswell and living in a place that might not have the best quality of life video games tv shows and movies help a lot they are already a medium to calm down the masses American dad did a episode about it but with american Football almsot everyone works a Shity job and Football is the part where they relax if im honest TV and video games should be a human right just as Food and Water are ifyour country or goverment cant provid that you should be entiteledto get them somehow but now about the video i really disliked the space voice itsvery offputting idk if im alone on that but just some criticien on the egde

Piracy is a service provider problem. If your service sucks people are gonna pirate.

What drug are you on lol.
Poor people = piracy
Rich people = legit.

Who invented that stupid trend to put subtitles one word at a time? And why people follow this stupid trend?
it's not a trend it's just a preset in the subtitle software, I only add it because English isn't my first language sorry if it bothered you
its to keep viewer locked in people will input the information better by reading it and hearing it at the same time
