@@jackcrofts-mullin461 Originally Metropolis was based on Cleveland, but that was back when Smallville was in Ohio. As the comic universe expanded, the city took inspiration from Toronto, New York, and Chicago. Gotham originally wasn't even Batman's city, but rather was the home of Green Lantern Alan Scott with Batman just operating out of New York. DC changed this in the Silver Age moving Batman to Gotham and removing real-world cities as places of operation for superheroes moving Batman to the harsh and Lovecraft influenced Gotham, Metropolis got moved to New York, and Green Lantern Hal Jordan was placed in Coast City which was sort of an amalgam of San Diego and San Francisco.
Yeah, it's been changed from story to story, but modern consensus seems to put Gotham off the coast of New Jersey, somewhere between New York City and Atlantic City.
The new super young Robin is Damian Wayne, the biological son of Bruce Wayne and Talia Al'Ghuul. He's notoriously aggressive, having been raised to be an assassin by his mother and only recently switching to Bats no-kill style.
38:29 The robin in this movie is Damian Wayne, Bruce's biological son, with Tallia, daughter of Ra's Al Ghul. She raised him until he was 10 years old, and then introduced him to his father, who had no idea he even existed. That's why he is both extremely skilled and also arrogant
14:09 Which means he's more than capable of fighting the turtles since they are usually all needed to even have a chance at fighting Shredder in most iterations
and they never won on their own anyway. either someone else would intervene, shredder would get conned into defeating himself, or they'd use some magical artifact or special device. its actually wild to think they never actually beat their main villain in a straight up fight because he's just that badass.
I love how this is the only version of the Turtles where Leo is wearing his katanas in the actual samurai form rather than the Snake Eyes/Deadpool behind-the-back mount. After thousands of battles over hundreds of years, you'd think Ra's Al-Ghuul would've been hit in the crotch at least once.
So here are the top 5 DC series I would recommend: Batman The Animated Series Superman The Animated Series Batman Beyond Justice League/ Justice League Unlimited Static Shock
Baxter stockmen wasn’t a fly in the 2000s he was just a rip a piece by piece torment victim until he was just a brain robot and being destroyed and revived in a near endless cycle
The Batcave's T-Rex comes from "Dinosaur Island," a Golden Age story in which a rich playboy constructs robotic dinosaurs (and cavemen) for patrons to "fight." Batman and Robin are lured into a trap when a gangster conks the playboy and takes control of the robots.
Quick explanation for the underwear over the suit: batman is designed like that because he is partially inspired by the first superhero, superman. Superman is designed like that because he is visually inspired by circus strongmen, which kids from 1938 would be familiar with. Strong men back then would show off their mucsles, but had to wear full body skin-tight tights to do so, because being shirtless was considered basically naked back then. The tights didnt leave much to the imagination, so they would wear trunks over the top of the tights. So, to show that superman was super strong, they put him in a strong man outfit, but more colorful to catch people's attention and with a cape to show motion. This set the standard for superhero outfits, so batman did the same thing, but bat themed. Also, that sort of means it's more accurate to say batman is wearing booty shorts over his costume. Do with that information what you will
if they would do it, i say just go in order starting with batman the animated series. it's all connected anyway, and most of the plot for the two justice league series was following up on events from the end of superman the animated series.
This is one of those movies where a lot of people probably passed because they read "Batman vs The Ninja Turtles" and thought it was gonna be just a gimmick movie, but when you watch it, it's actually really fun and entertaining. I also didn't know how badly I needed Batman vs Shredder until I got it. Unironically one of my favorite TMNT movies. Also, I'd look up the watch order for the animated films because admittably they do have a lot of both standalone and connected films/shows including the DCAU (my personal favorite), the The DCMU (DC Movie Universe), and another one they're currently working on. It's a lot, but I'm sure the fans will walk you guys through it.
Gotham is New Jersey, metropolis is across the bay on the coast of Delaware, often synonymous with the central island of New Troy, but the entire city also encompasses the boroughs of Queensland Park, Park Ridge, and Bakerline. That’s about how specific location wise those too are I mean metropolis can get inconsistent some times on location
The Robin in the movie is actually his biological son. Ra’s is his grandfather. The kids name is Damian and he’s the fifth Robin, surprisingly some folks forget that there was a girl Robin that didn’t stick around that long, so some assume there were only four. She was around for like a few months before some mess happened.
In BTAS the giant coin was a part of a ploy to off the Batman by Two Face. He had him tied on it, batman escaped, got two face arrested, kept the penny as a relic.
I remember one of the DC writers saying long ago that Metropolis is NYC during the day and Gotham was NYC during the night. Over the decades it’s become a hodgepodge of NYC, Detroit and Chicago.
6:15 Fun fact: The Penguin thug with the green spiked mohawk is a nod to the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. He looks like Krangs robotic body. 😊
on voices here: the voice of batman and joker here are the same ones from batman arkham origins. this caused a stir being the whole "why didnt they get kevin conroy and mark hamill!!!" when the game was announced and trailers were shown. well fucks better get used to this with kevin gone and mark officially confirm he is done voicing joker. so these two voices may become the new mains for batman and joker in most dc animated stuff in coming years. edit: nvm, the voice of batman and joker here is done by 1 person, troy baker, in arkham origins troy voices joker but for batman in that game it was roger craig smith.
4 Main Robins: Dick Greyson, OG, Becomes Knightwing Jason Todd, Dies, Resurrects and becomes Red Hood Tim Drake, Best Detective of the Robins, Becomes Red Robin Damian Wayne, the son of Bruce by Blood, Mother is Talia daughter of Ra's al Ghul, raised as an assassin, then Bruce gets him and slowly works out his violent tendencies, started as the youngest Robin yet.
Tom Kenny aka SpongeBob voices Penguin in the film he also voiced him in The Batman 2004 series & The Batman vs Dracula movie, Plastic Man in the Batman: The Brave and the Bold animated series in 08, and Doc Ock in the Ultimate Spider-Man series.
This one seems to be a stand alone Gotham but Tom Kenny has played Penguin before in the “The Batman” canon. Speaking of, that show had a movie where he takes the actual Dracula and it’s one of the sickest things ever
This was already a pretty full cast of characters, so adding in Dick, Jason, and Tim probably would've just bloated the story. Although I do agree, it would've been fun to see the brother dynamics of the Robins mix with the Turtles.
@@sword3349I know Batman is the selling point, but how cool would it be for the sequel to be the reverse of this movie. Lol in the comics crossover that this movie was based off of, they establish that the DC Universe is completely separate from whatever universe the Turtles are from. This movie basically did away with any multiverse shenanigans and just treated this universe as being inhabited by both Batman and the Turtles. They even have a meta joke where Mikey is super stoked about visiting Gotham City, only for Donnie to say: "They're pretty much the same city." In DC Comics, for the most part, their fictional cities/locations do exist alongside real-world cities/locations. Though, Gotham City has traditionally been treated as kind of the "New York" or "New Jersey" of the DC Universe. Straight up, this movie is AWESOME. Such a great love letter to both the TMNT and Batman franchises, with great action and character moments, as well as plenty of easter eggs and in-jokes for the fans.
Honestly one of the best crossovers. Any 80's kid who played with their Batman and Ninja Turtles action figures together yearned to see this happen. It took about 30-plus years, but it didn't disappoint. Batman vs. Shredder is such a highlight, and I love how evenly matched their fighting skills are. It's not really canon to anything, but there are lots of little nods and references to both IP's lore in the comics, movies, toys, and video games.
The fun thing about the turtles is their origin tie in with daredevils origins in the chemicals that got in there with eyes are the same that effected the turtles.
Legitimately one of the most fun and awesome Batman movies I've seen, and I absolutely love how well they combined elements of both franchises and gave us Mutant Batman villains, which is so cool and creative; I especially love Harley, Freeze, Two-Face and Joker mutant designs. I also love the dynamics between the Turtles and the family, like Donny and Batgirl's friendship, Robin's (aka Damian Wayne) and Michelangelo & Raph's dynamic. I also like how much subtle gore and brutality are in this movie, and it really uses its PG13 rating. Bro, that Shredder vs. Batman scene was sick!!! Seeing Shredder actually wreck Batman is so unexpected, and yet I like seeing Batman challenged by a well-matched opponent.
After an awful work day, having to go get a cavity filled, and being stuck in standstill traffic, this was a major bright spot in my day. Thank you guys for reacting to an awesome movie and thank you for brightening up my day. Much appreciated! ❤😊
Love this movie! So good!!! Also this robin is the 4th: Damian, who is usually the dark Robin and is Batman's actual son Jason Todd was the 2nd: red hood Dick who's in titans is the 1st: nightwing after leaving robin role Then Tim drake who's the 3rd and sadly doesn't get much screen time 😊
A fun crossover movie based of one of many times the turtles and Bats have crossed over (like seriously Bats and the Turtles get around; Power Rangers, Alien, Predator, Godzilla, Ghostbusters, Dracula, He-Man, X-Files, Elmer Fudd, these are all real) Mikey is hilarious. It's separate from the animated series but the art style is fairly like The Batman tv series, but not its character designs. No no, Batgirl and Batwoman have always been two different entities: Batgirl is typically Barbara Gordon - daughter of Commissioner Gordon, the outfit she wears in this movie is her 'burnside' outfit, more practically made, was very popular - she also went by Oracle as a 'person in the chair' kinda character, but probably should know about Killing Joke to learn why. Batwoman is typically Kate Kane nowadays, debuting in 2006 after comics reused the mantle from Kathy Kane's iteration between the 60s-80s (funnily enough, Kathy's Batwoman was a love interest to Bruce to stop the gay allegations against Batman because, again, it was the 60s), Bruce's cousin on his mother's side, her suit looks more like Bruce's though her origins are less connected to the Bat Family than Barbara's, also one of DC's most prominent LGBT superheroes. Okay: Giant Penny! Alfred's fault. He suggested that Bruce kept mementos of past successes; originally it was something a low-tier villain called the Penny Plunderer tried to steal, in Zero Year it was retconned to be used to defeat the Riddler, BTAS attests it to Two-Face, but the giant penny tends to be an art piece Bruce just goes 'ima take this' and nobody thought twice about Batman carrying a giant penny out. Young Robin - meet Damian Wayne, fifth and most current iteration. Bruce's bio baby with Talia al Ghul, so Ra's al Ghul's grandson, trained mostly as a feral assassin boy but now under the Bat Family's watch to be a less stabby vigilante, but still feral. Probably the second edgiest Robin just behind Jason Todd, but he still has time...and he respawned quicker. In most timeskip comics since he does take up the mantle of Batman. Many Bat-villains are doctors; Strange and Harley are psychiatrist doctors, while Ivy and Freeze are science doctors We've still yet to get the sequel, which leaves the potential of jokerized Shredder still up in the air.
Traditionally, Gotham City is in New Jersey. Its exact analogue city has shifted over the years, and the live action movies have complicated things by always using Chicago as its visual template. But in the comics it’s consistently been located on the eastern seaboard, a bit south of NYC.
Gotham is usually in New Jersey! New York does exist. Locations of fictional cities change sometimes though Batgirl and Batwomen are separate. The first Batgirl out of 3, Barbra Gordon is the daughter of commissioner Gordon and is the the same age as the first robin (Nightwing). After becoming paralyzed from the waist down she becomes Oracle, the bats' tech guy. Batwoman is Kate Kane, Bruce Wayne's cousin. She actually got into the whole vigilante thing before knowing her cousin was The Bat. The robin of this movie is Damian al Ghul-Wayne, and is Bruce's bio son as well as Ra's grandson, he is the 5th (?) To hold the robin title and is generally 10-14 yrs old and hasn't grown into his own hero identity. Damian is the most serious/formal of the robins, as he was raised in the league of assassins until he was ten. Movies, animated or otherwise, never manage to show how many kids batman has. The consensus on who is most often counted as a robin, in order: Dick Grayson (Nightwing), Jason Todd (red hood), Tim drake (red robin), Stephanie Brown (Spoiler/Batgirl), Damian Wayne (robin). There are more kids that aren't apart of the robin lineup such as Cassandra Cain (Batgirl/Black Bat/Orphan) and Duke Thomas (Signal) the only metahuman of Bruce's kids. there are always more the further out from the 'main continuity' you go. many more Harley Quinn is a doctor of psychology. She has a PhD, I appreciated this movie acknowledging that. Those covers are real! DC owns more than you think, including TMNT
This movie is an adaptation of the DC/IDW crossover of Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles miniseries. Batgirl and Batwoman are different characters. Batwoman is Kate Kane. Batgirl is Barbara Gordon, daughter of Commissioner Gordon. There have been several Robins, as you probably already know, 1st Dick Grayson who became Nightwing, 2nd Jason Todd who became the Red Hood, 3rd Tim Drake who became Red Robin and 4th Damian Wayne the biological son (i.e. not adopted or cloned) of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul (daughter of Ra's al Ghul). There is a 5th Robin in canon, Stephanie Brown who was formerly a hero known as Spoiler. Brown died while trying to redeem herself after Batman fired her as Robin. Carrie Kelley is an Elseworlds (i.e. non in the primary canon) Robin that worked with an elderly Batman.

Stephanie was originally The Spoiler, but for a brief moment became Robin, and then the second Batgirl, after Barbara
@@Kozladoev You're right, I remember that now. I just always thought there was only one "girl Robin". But then I never got into the comics so...

In the first comic gotham was a different dimension, it was a plot point that the turtles could only survive there for a little while
Yeah wasn’t that because the different scientific laws meant that the mutagen that made the turtles sentient/anthropomorphic was wearing off?
@@adamzielke3541 yep the mutagen was diffusing out of their bodies slowly
@@adamzielke3541 yep pretty much they were regressing into regular animals and that was theorised as a best case scenario
"Do they still all have their own powers?" I mean... most of them don't really have any kind of special power except for sometimes immunity against certain poisons or in Freeze's case, the cold. They all get their abilities from certain gadgets or other stuff they create themselves. With some exceptions of course.
First of all, I love that they make Damian look like a human in this., But also, I'm so glad they watched this!
Man, you guys are in for a real treat if you keep watching DCs animated movies. There are so many absolutely incredible ones.
This movie is super underrated I wished they made a second part to it
I think they will still hopefully caused they did set it up for a second one at the end
22:09 That Robin is Damian Wayne, son of Batman and Talia al-Ghul, grandson of Ra's al-Ghul
Gotham is usually New Jersey-ish while Metropolis is New York-ish
I always believed that Metropolis was somewhere close to Smallville, maybe around Chigaco since Bruce needs to fly there. I think Gotham and Metropolis were closer in pre-crisis
@@jackcrofts-mullin461it isn't. You just have to cross 1 bridge to get from Metropolis to Gotham.
@@matthewpopow6647kinda crazy that literally any gotham criminals can go to metropolis and so on, like your telling me zod can just fight batman by sneaking into gotham?
@@lightningjadejavier in theory. But superman villians like zod is unlikely to want something from Gotham (unless the plot demands it). And low level crooks like two-face, penguin and the like wouldn't want to square off against supes. It happens though.
I think it was confirmed that Gotham City is somewhere in the New Jersey area, so Bruce Wayne is canonically a rich Jersey kid.

Unironically one of the best cartoon crossovers for no reason at all
38:29 The robin in this movie is Damian Wayne, Bruce's biological son, with Tallia, daughter of Ra's Al Ghul.
So here are the top 5 DC series I would recommend:
Batman The Animated Series
Superman The Animated Series
Batman Beyond
Justice League/ Justice League Unlimited
Static Shock
So basically the DCAU? Checks out.

Quick explanation for the underwear over the suit:
batman is designed like that because he is partially inspired by the first superhero, superman.
Do with that information what you will
I hope you eventually get into a Batman/justice league animated tv show and watch the whole way through. And there are a bunch to consider
Definitely Justice League Unlimited!
@@KittRembo I'd love for them to do Justice League and then Justice League Unlimited back to back
if they would do it, i say just go in order starting with batman the animated series. it's all connected anyway, and most of the plot for the two justice league series was following up on events from the end of superman the animated series.
That’s about how specific location wise those too are I mean metropolis can get inconsistent some times on location
tho in the batman and superman animated series its set up that they are far enough apart people usually fly to get from one to the other.
That's Damion Wayne, not just Robin. Batemans official blood son. Ra's al Ghoul's grand child.
Damian, not Damion
Ah yes my favorite hero, Bateman
"8 years of college, a 3 year residency, & he says *nurse* "

5:15 fun fact, the penguin is voiced by Tom Kenny, the same voice actor for SpongeBob
This is based on an IDW Comics crossover, There's at least 3 of them and they're all pretty great
In BTAS the giant coin was a part of a ploy to off the Batman by Two Face. He had him tied on it, batman escaped, got two face arrested, kept the penny as a relic.
Fun fact: When animating the Leo vs Raas fight, they thought ‘How would a 16 year old fight Raas as opposed to Batman.’
Btw batgirl is Barbara Gordon not batwoman they are two different people, batwoman is Kate Kane
(At 34:24) You think THAT'S horrifying? In the crossover comics, she turned into a mantis.

on voices here: the voice of batman and joker here are the same ones from batman arkham origins. this caused a stir being the whole "why didnt they get kevin conroy and mark hamill!!!" when the game was announced and trailers were shown.
well fucks better get used to this with kevin gone and mark officially confirm he is done voicing joker. so these two voices may become the new mains for batman and joker in most dc animated stuff in coming years.
edit: nvm, the voice of batman and joker here is done by 1 person, troy baker, in arkham origins troy voices joker but for batman in that game it was roger craig smith.
I was shocked and loved when Batman said “Cowabunga” when I first watched this movie.
4 Main Robins:
Dick Greyson, OG, Becomes Knightwing
Jason Todd, Dies, Resurrects and becomes Red Hood
Tim Drake, Best Detective of the Robins, Becomes Red Robin
Damian Wayne, the son of Bruce by Blood, Mother is Talia daughter of Ra's al Ghul, raised as an assassin, then Bruce gets him and slowly works out his violent tendencies, started as the youngest Robin yet.
(At 38:17) The fact he's Batman's son THIS is Damian Wayne. The Red Hood, you're thinking about Jason Todd.
Besides Tim maybe. All the Robins are Batman’s sons. Damian is just the only one who ever calls him father.
(At 16:40) At least I can tell this Baxter Stockman was black, like in the comics.
This one seems to be a stand alone Gotham but Tom Kenny has played Penguin before in the “The Batman” canon. Speaking of, that show had a movie where he takes the actual Dracula and it’s one of the sickest things ever
The only thing i would’ve added is having the grown up ex-Robins present. Different brother dynamics.
If they do make a sequel, they must have the former robins in the story
This was already a pretty full cast of characters, so adding in Dick, Jason, and Tim probably would've just bloated the story. Although I do agree, it would've been fun to see the brother dynamics of the Robins mix with the Turtles.
@@sword3349I know Batman is the selling point, but how cool would it be for the sequel to be the reverse of this movie. Aka the Batbros minus Batman and Batgirl go to New York to deal with shredder, just like the Turtles went to Gotham without their mentor and April. The fact that Damien knew that Mkkey pressed every button males me think that the Bat-Firework is specifically for if every button was pressed.

This is one of the crossovers that doesnt make sense untill you watch it and its fantastic
This is Damen the last Robin animated wise , His mother is Talia Al Ghul ironically
17:35 i like how the goons body is perextly alligned with the reactor box
I love how he gives shredder the first fight because he was tired like batman didnt fight like 50 dudes before shredder
You know what I realized? The Mutagen cured Mr. Freeze of his disease, they honestky should've left him as a bear.
Gotham City is located in Gotham County, New Jersey, not in New York. It's closeby to NYC but the two are different cities.
- Check out the Suicide Squad Assault on Arkham movie
- Still don't get how Freeze was effected by the mutagen when he was encased in suit
The Robin here is Damian Wayne, Batman's son, and Ra's Al Ghul's grandson. He is the fourth Robin after Tim Drake, who became Red Robin
After an awful work day, having to go get a cavity filled, and being stuck in standstill traffic, this was a major bright spot in my day. Thank you guys for reacting to an awesome movie and thank you for brightening up my day. Much appreciated! ❤😊
Love this movie! So good!!!
Also this robin is the 4th: Damian, who is usually the dark Robin and is Batman's actual son
Jason Todd was the 2nd: red hood
Dick who's in titans is the 1st: nightwing after leaving robin role
Then Tim drake who's the 3rd and sadly doesn't get much screen time 😊
A fun crossover movie based of one of many times the turtles and Bats have crossed over (like seriously Bats and the Turtles get around; Power Rangers, Alien, Predator, Godzilla, Ghostbusters, Dracula, He-Man, X-Files, Elmer Fudd, these are all real) Mikey is hilarious.
Many Bat-villains are doctors; Strange and Harley are psychiatrist doctors, while Ivy and Freeze are science doctors
We've still yet to get the sequel, which leaves the potential of jokerized Shredder still up in the air.
Traditionally, Gotham City is in New Jersey. Its exact analogue city has shifted over the years, and the live action movies have complicated things by always using Chicago as its visual template. But in the comics it’s consistently been located on the eastern seaboard, a bit south of NYC.
So there are 4 volumes of batman and turtle crossovers
yes that robin is damian wayne true son of batman
And his mother is talia (rasul gul daugher)
I _love_ how much you guys are digging the DC animated movies!
We not gonna talk about how the T-Rex Foot Ninja now has like 5 someodd needle-tipper vials in his THROAT? Mans is dead. lol
Gotham is usually in New Jersey! New York does exist. Locations of fictional cities change sometimes though
Batgirl and Batwomen are separate.
There are more kids that aren't apart of the robin lineup such as Cassandra Cain (Batgirl/Black Bat/Orphan) and Duke Thomas (Signal) the only metahuman of Bruce's kids. there are always more the further out from the 'main continuity' you go. many more
Harley Quinn is a doctor of psychology. She has a PhD, I appreciated this movie acknowledging that.
Those covers are real! DC owns more than you think, including TMNT
41:41 love how this man took a metal sewer grate painted like a pizza to the face.
