    For those on the "fence",... Many food stores, sell pre made, actual Bags, out of the same type liner stuff,.... Simply carry your stuff from the house etc, and lay the bag inside to cooler "box".

    Good one Chris. I actually tested a lure 11.5 the other day, an incredibly stable boat and of course that seat is awesome... For now I'll have to stick with my Talon though.. Thanks for sharing, w

      +Walt G Dicks sporting goods here in Ocala has a new fishing Kayak by Field and Stream called the Shadow Caster. It looks like it was inspired by the Lure. retails for $799 but looks like a great step up from our Talons.

    Great video. Just did this to my lure. I know Feelfree makes an insert now, but it doesnt appear to have a drain slot or the top panel. Your method ends up being cheaper and better imo, with minimal effort.

    That's awsome smart thinking. How long does it hold ice?

    What keeps River and lake water from coming in through the drain hole?

    • @KayakChris
      @KayakChris  5 років тому

      Hi David, I'm a big guy and bring lots of gear, I've never had water get up in there after 3 years or so of having this set up. The hole is set high in the hull so it drains but the bow is never low enough to have water flooding in. waves and splashes never get up inside. I've been through some pretty gnarly weather and chop and it stays dry except for the moisture from the ice bottles etc. in the cooler itself. If you really wanted to you could plug the hole with a scupper plug or boat drain plug. :-) Thanks for the comment.

    NICE! YET,.... for the main liner, they are only $13. and can be removed to wash, when NEEDED! (OOPS food etc left in it?) YET, even if ya get their liner, adding to the lid would be extra nice, since thats where the Sun beats down on it.

    great idea i was looking for days to do something like that with my slayer propel 13 and I'm more determined now to do it. Thank you. One question how long does your ice usually last?

    • @KayakChris
      @KayakChris  8 років тому

      Thanks for the comment Yohan. I don't use ice per say, what I do is freeze one water bottle solid and then put my drinks in cold. I can fish over 8 hours in 90+ degrees and all the drinks and food are still chilled when I pack up to go home (if anything is left ). The frozen water bottle usually still has partial ice in it as well.

      Thanks Victor, it works really well, keeps things cold all day for over 8 hours on the water in the Florida heat.

    how well does the cooler insulate now that you have added the insulation? I am considering purchasing this kayak in a few months. thanks!

      +Jared Clark Thank you for the question. I use it mainly for drinks and they stay almost ice cold all day when it's hot out (90s). I don't use ice cubes, I usually have 2- 16 oz water bottles that I freeze and put in the hatch with my drinks. I also put my drinks in cold. Last weekend it was only about 60 degrees out and the power aid I put in the cooler formed ice on the outside it got so cold. I usually fish for over 8 hours during a single day's fishing.

      +Kayak Chris That sounds perfect. I was hoping that it would at least be adequite to keep me from carrying a drink cooler. Thanks for the reply.

    Does it have one made fore it or do you have to make one youself

    • @KayakChris
      @KayakChris  7 років тому

      Originally I had to make it because there wasn't one. They were supposed to come out with a drop in insert but I can't find it online.

    Did you do the paint job on this yak or is it original?

    • @KayakChris
      @KayakChris  8 років тому

      +Chris Fagin Chris, thanks for asking, it's not painted at all. It is different colored polyethylene plastic all melted together to make the boat. It's camo through and though.
