I loved how openly campy Jack Frost was. That bathtub scene with Shannon Elizabeth was so bizarre and memorable.
I watch Jack Frost & Jack Frost 2 every year during my Christmas Movie Celebration Week.
I remember renting this from blockbuster not knowing what to expect as a fresh faced 14 year old, I absolutely loved it and to this day love watching it this time of year!
Kudos on your research for this episode, I can't imagine films as small as this are easy to find info on.

I miss the late 80's/90's video horror. They were almost entirely passion projects, unique, often unintentionally hilarious, and you never knew what you were going to get. Back when horror was fun. I would totally watch "Jackzilla" and remakes need to die.
That VHS cover on the video store shelf will be forever burned into my brain lol

This has been a favorite mine since high school. I like the corniness of the dialogue, the crazy characters, and the unique death scenes. Plus, Shannon Elizabeth bizarre bathtub death scene was hilarious.
The story behind that scene is just as good.
I really like this one, it's a good spin on the Child's Play type of horror, albeit with the campiness dialed up to 11. Rifftrax did a great job with it too
I worked in Hollywood video in the late 90s. What a time 📼
I also worked at Hollywood Video, but it was 2004-2008, just before their downfall, so it was less fun.

Great production on this one. Great editing and background details. Always a thrill to see one of your passion projects. Now I will subject my wife to watching Jack Frost with me for the holiday. I'll preface by suggesting Michael Keaton is in it and play innocent when he doesn't appear in the film.

You should do The Story of The Fog!!
Good review to one of if not the cheesiest horror comedy ever made considering that this movie was beyond corny and cheesy even by horror comedy standards. Add to the fact that it contains some very goofy deaths ( i. e. death by Christmas ornaments, death by carrot nose rape) makes this movie even more iconic and unforgettable.

If anyone hasn't seen Shocker.. it's great. Also the lead character is played outstandingly by Mitch Pileggi, who went on to become Walter Skinner on X-files.

I legit remember being 9 and seeing ‘Jack Frost’ on TV guide on SciFi channel and when I looked it was the horror version…much to my…horror. Lol

Where did you find the photo of the rental VHS? The sticker on the tape is from the town that I grew up in. One of my friends still lives on Walnut Street in Willimantic, CT where the video store used to be (sadly the building is now a bank).
Fun fact: when I met Tony Todd (Candyman) years ago and told him where I was from, he told me he used to teach there and fondly remembered a local pizza restaurant.

Who else grabbed this as a kid thinking it was the Michael Keaton movie?

I was 8 or 9 when this came out. My parents let me rent it on VHS from the video store because they were irresponsible and let me watch anything I wanted 😂
It was the first time I saw boobies and I knew I liked guys after that, so this movie is special to me.
Pretty much my first experience with it too haha.
I remember around 1999 renting this with my brother and we thought it was the one about the kid who’s dad becomes a snowman also called “Jack Frost” and boy were we wrong 😂 but we still ended up loving it and I’ll always remember how funny we thought the mixup was
I'm ashamed to say that the girl was the reason I rented this trash film shortly after I turned 18. Had some interesting laughs along the way, but I could have done without it.
This IS NOT the Michael Keaton movie, (Like I thought).🤣
I've had the dvd about 15yrs now. And the sequel. Absolutely awful, the pair of them. But what fun to watch 😂😂😂
I don't see why it's sad that all the original formats have long since been oop? They're either on dead formats or lile.the simitar release on DVD was a non anamorphic transfer with awful compression the Vineagar Syndrome bluray is amazing
