Haha Tim that is a great comment, and also makes us really grateful for you guys who have been supporting us from the very beginning of the channel. Thank you! 🙏❤️
"So what did you do today?" "Oh, walked a tightrope across a cave entrance while being dive bombed by bats..." Beautifully crazy adventure! Thanks for sharing!
Haha yes Jeff! This was one of the most memorable via ferratas we've done in a while -- interesting challenges around every corner, and beautiful the whole way. Very glad you liked it! ❤️
Thanks very much, Luis! And no worries, we will for sure be super careful -- our list of hikes and climbs we want to do is way too long to risk getting injured! ❤️
OMGGGG!! This is way too gnarly! From the bat cave, to the sketchy one wire traverses, to down climbing to get the GoPro! Ugh! No way could I do this! Awesome video!!
Haha thank you! Ya it really was one of those adventures that had a little bit of everything, and most of it was super fun except for down-climbing the crux to retrieve the GoPro 🙈 -A
What a video!! I so wish I was there, even with the bats. I actually love bats! 🦇 Thanks soo much for the beautiful video, never been to south of France. My feet were sweating watching you! Imagine climbing there without metal protections! Thank you soooo much for sharing!!🦇🦇🦇🦇
Thanks Mary! You would love the South of France -- it is beautiful wherever you look, in the forests and canyons and also of course on the Mediterranean beaches! That overhung part would be SO hard to climb without the metal! ❤️
I don't know about Batman .... you TWO are the real super heroes for sure ! Very exciting climb. Heart in mouth at the wire walk. Thank you for a another wonderful video.
Thanks Carl! We were so stoked when we got on the first climb and realized that pretty much wherever we pointed the camera it was going to look beautiful. Those are always the funnest ones to film! ❤️
Well Elise this is a serious stuff.. So awesome and dangerous at same time.. I wish nothing fatal could happen Elise I cause would have a hard time to recover... But other than that it's absolutely beautiful and I see how much you are happy in your eyes.. And I love that.. Amazing views on summit.. Have a great evening 🤗✌️😘
Thanks so much, Serge, and don't worry -- those harnesses and tethers keep us pretty safe on via ferratas even when there is a really big drop below! You have a great night too! ❤️--E
Thanks Rick! It was a really beautiful area -- even the drive out there was pretty amazing through stunning canyons and lovely little French mountain towns. Highly recommend! ❤️
High praise for you High Fliers- at least it LOOkS like you're flying over those rocks along with your Bat buddies! You continue to make it look so easy although we all know otherwise!
Thanks Michael! Ya that feeling of flying over big drops was definitely what made this one so special -- well, that and the amazing views the whole way! ❤️
Your latest adventure makes Angels Landing in Zion National Park seem like a stroll on the beach. I doin't know what is more impressive, your stamina or your courage. Walking on cables while bats are flying past your noses is definitely not for the faint if heart. I would rather climb Half Done at Yosemite blindfolded rather than attempt that Via Ferrata. Holy schmoly! You two are unreal! Maybe you can try an easier trail on your next video. That way my blood pressure won't go up as much while watching.
Haha thanks Bruce! And yes, we definitely did an easier one for the next one that you'll see on Thursday. It's a very beautiful canyoneering via ferrata with a river and waterfalls below. Psyched to share it with you! ❤️
Haha thanks Stephanie! We have that sometimes when we're climbing or especially descending -- we have to make sure we don't get lost in the view and trip! ❤️
Really hope you get a chance to, Mike. It was constantly fun and interesting, with changes in terrain and different obstacles and always awesome views. Pretty much all you could ask for in a via ferrata! ❤️
You guys are insane (in a very good way). We love you two and stay absolutely safe. You always bring hope to life but I am not brave enough to do what you do. But you are successful at getting us motivated. Can't thank you enough. Love from Fullerton, CA
That's what we love to hear -- thank you! Hope you're still able to get out and adventure even with all the fires that are happening over there right now!! ❤️
Thanks very much -- so glad you liked it! We did get in another fun adventure while we were over there through a very cool river canyon, and we'll post it next Thursday! ❤️
Wow that London to Monaco hike sounds SO freaking cool! I bet you're gonna be psyched to plunge into the Mediterranean after that. Can't wait to hear about how it goes!! ❤️
I’m astonished guys! I’m at a loss for words. 🤷🏻♂️ You know me by now and that sounds impossible, but in this case WOW! That’s all I got, everyone else covered all the bases. Stay safe, love you guys!!! Thanks for sharing. Next stop Patagonia! 🤣 ❤️
Thanks Larry! Yes we really do need to get down to Patagonia soon -- well, at least we'll be about half way down there in December we we adventure around Costa Rica! ❤️
Wow! That was beyond impressive and definitely inspiring. The crowning moment was when Elise was screaming as she straddle the high wired Ferrata while bats zoomed passed. Intense and daring. Love it! Thanks for sharing. You tow know how to experience French countryside.
Thank you! Yes we really love it in France, and were sad we only had a week on this trip. But the good news is we have 8 full weeks in France, Italy, and Switzerland scheduled for next summer!! ❤️
This one was an adventure for sure! It seemed like there was some kind of new and interesting challenge around every turn -- really a fun via ferrata. ❤️
Haha yes you are right! There actually was a sign along the route warning of the dangers of "foudre," which is lightning, so that most likely really is the death from above! ❤️
I think I peed my pants a little bit watching this lol The camera definitely showed the verticality of that climb and descent. Very nice to see you guys again! Safe travels!
Thanks Mark! So glad the verticality came across -- it was def one of the coolest and funnest things about the adventure. Super extreme and even very overhung in places! ❤️
Another amazing video from you guys! My heart was pounding when you went across those wires, and then went past vertical (I’m severely afraid of heights), and then the bat cave, oh my gosh!!! I was terrified for you. The views and scenery were so beautiful, that’s another thing I love about your videos. Enjoy your time in France, I love it there, I hope you beat the rain!!! 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Thanks Jennifer! Yes we totally beat the rain down to the car, and then it started to fall hard about 2 minutes after we got in so it was perfect timing! We love France too, and although this was just a quick trip for a friend's party we're going to go back to France, Italy, and Switzerland for 8 weeks next summer and already can't wait!! ❤️
Wow, breathtaking! It's clearly a feat just to climb up there, but I also can't help thinking what a huge job it must have been for the folks who laid that via ferrata to find the best route and then secure all that metal and cables! 😯
Thanks so much! We really, really love these via ferratas -- could probably do a couple every week for the next decade and be totally happy, and of course love sharing them with you guys! ❤️
Hahah omg that would be so funny if he did that. I'm not sure even Adam would down climb a crux for a pop tart, but in truth I'm also not sure he wouldn't! 😂 --E
My God some of the climbs you guys do is insane !!! hahaha no words, super glad you're out there living it up and this video was another highlight! as always stay safe and can't wait for the next one
Thanks Kim! We love taking you guys along on these via ferrata hikes -- they're so much fun to do, and also to watch the footage after and remember! ❤️
Thanks Andrea! The nice thing about these via ferratas is that at least if you do slip at least you have the harness on and dynamic tethers clipped to the cable to catch you. So you might fall for 10 feet or so which wouldn't be fun, but would be way better than plunging all the way down like you would if you fell off something like the knife-edge on Mt. Russell! ❤️
It was really a good one. Just constant variation from overhangs to bridges to caves to spires, lots of big drops and gorgeous views pretty much the whole way. Definitely recommend it for you guys! ❤️
Thank you! Yes we were so happy when we got there and saw what the views were going to be -- it was just gorgeous the whole way, and we took plenty of breaks to sit and enjoy it! ❤️
I think you would definitely have the guts to do it! It's just about trusting your equipment. After a few climbs and rappels in the climbing gym you would learn to trust that the harness and tether will hold you if anything bad happens, and you'd be off to the races! ❤️
Thanks Miguel! Yes you're right this one is probably too steep and overhung for most beginners, but the canyon one we're going to show you guys next week could be a very good one for beginners -- it's super beautiful and fun but not nearly as vertical as this one, at least until the last part! ❤️
Another fantastic video. How do I find out the name of the songs that you play off and on throughout this video as I would like to purchase it. Your choice of music is excellent
Thanks so much, Mark! We put a lot of our songs up on Bandcamp, so you can find it there under our channel name, livehardxlovehard. So glad you're enjoying it! ❤️
That's crazy! Bat cave is something new to this channel, death from above for the GoPro as well (but somehow I am not surprised that Adam has retrieved it back and you even kept filming on it), thunderstorm rolling in while at the top, and filming on those wires (with a broken tripod?) - that's a lot for a single episode! On an unrelated note - since you guys finally have made it to Europe this summer, do I sense it right that the time has finally come for the hike with subscribers in Zermatt?
So glad you liked this one -- it really was full of adventure and super fun! Unfortunately we only had one week for this trip, but the good news is that we are coming for 8 full weeks next summer and are definitely planning to do a subscriber hike in Zermatt then! ❤️

Nice video! And close to home. La Colmiane is indeed a very beautiful via ferratta. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to cross the swinging bridge the other way around though, which is probably why your downclimb to the bridge felt a bit sketchy. Cheers from Nice.
Wow Jeremie what a beautiful place to live-- cheers to you! You are totally correct about our direction across the first bridge. We had downloaded a digital route map that led us astray, so after that we just went back to the picture we'd taken on our phones of the big map at the beginning of the hike, and that worked great. We were only able to spend one week in your area (in Cannes) on this trip, but will definitely be back for more now that we know how beautiful it is there. ❤️
wow, awesome, not what I was expecting to see you do next! Excited to see what else drops. I'm sure you have more than enough plans and ideas, but definitely let me know if you want any beta or suggestions whatsoever.
Thanks Avery! This was just a super quick trip for a friend's once-in-a-lifetime party in Cannes, so we climbed a couple fun via ferratas while we were there. But the big trip that we'll def want beta for is 8 full weeks in Europe next summer. We're hoping to do Matterhorn, Weisshorn, complete the Oberrothorn traverse, and do lots of other really awesome stuff. BTW the Secor book arrived -- thank you so much! Can't wait to read through that classic over the next couple of months! ❤️
Literally seconds before Elise reported that the GoPro had gone prone, I wondered whether it was tethered to your wrist in case it slipped from your grasp! Sorry about that; I'll try to avoid such thoughts during future adventures... So glad you retrieved it! And erm, we noticed that you tried to scare us during the bat segment by whooping whenever a bat came into view; I was not perturbed ;-) Much love! -Liam
Wow! Ya’ll are fearless. The whole time watching the tight rope I kept thinking what would happen if you fell or lost balanced. I saw the safety rope, but do you have a plan for a slip? Awesome views. I truly enjoyed the video.
Thanks Shelle! That's a great question, and basically the plan for a slip comes down to trusting the equipment and trying to fall feet first rather than inverted. The tightropes are actually very safe for us fall-wise, because if we slipped we would just dangle in the air and then pull ourselves back up. The more dangerous falls would be if you fell on a rock face, got a foot caught and inverted, and then whacked your head or shoulder before the carabiner slid down to the next anchor point to stop the fall. So if you do fall on a rock face you just want to make sure not to catch your feet on anything, fall feet first, and let the equipment do its work. Theoretically, that should keep you safe (maybe a little scratched up) though we've never taken a fall on a via ferrata so can't say it yet from experience! ❤️
As the French would say: formidable! What does formidable mean in French? The French word "formidable" can be translated as "redoutable" (meaning formidable or difficult to overcome) or "impressionnant" (meaning tremendous or extraordinary). It can describe a task, a person, or a reputation. As Elise says "Up we go."
This one looked pretty challenging! Good on Adam for rescuing the GoPro; would have been easy to just cut your losses and let it lie. Funny to imagine a stranger finding it later and seeing all the footage haha
Oh my gosh, Colby, I was definitely tempted. I had just climbed up that crux part and my wrists were super pumped, so when that thing fell ALL the way down I was just like "no way" at first. But then I thought of all the great footage on it and had to go get it. The hilarious part, as you'll see in the next video next week, is that it actually happened again in a river canyon on our other adventure and I had to detach from the via to go after it again!! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard sounds like you guys need a new GoPro or tripod or whatever haha or some sort of strap to keep it better secured when you guys do these more precarious adventures
I really think you'll be able to do via ferratas, Maddy! It's just about getting used to the equipment and trusting that it would hold you if anything happened. It takes a little while, but is so worth it to be able to do these kinds of amazing climbs!! ❤️
That's a great question -- mostly it's through exposure training, just gradually exposing ourselves to scarier and scarier drops until it starts to feel normal. That's why Adam always picks those crazy snack spots with his legs dangling, just to keep himself trained not to fear those crazy drops. ❤️
Brilliant Video Lads! No Rabies in France for at least this century btw, as is the vast majority of Western Europe with mainly imported cases popping uo
that was some hike with the swaying narrow bridge , the tight rope in the bat cave, i do wonder how you can also film it all for us. did you have to go back the same on the way back.
Thanks Geoffrey! This was definitely a bit of a challenging one to film because so much of the up-climbing was overhung, which meant that I really had to hang with one hand while filming with the other which is very tiring. However, it's always worth it to get the great view shots on these kinds of via ferratas. Fortunately we did not have to down climb the way we came up. There was a very nice little trail winding around the back side of the mountain, so we were able to just walk down quickly and beat the rainstorm -- getting to the car just about 2 minutes before it started! --A
Shoutout to the guys who planned, constructed an built this thing! And the use is for free! By the way, if you guys happen to be in the Dolomites, let´s have that beer! I´m for two weeks in Val Gardena/Grödner Tal from 9/21.🙂
Totally agree with that shoutout, Lothar! This was just a quick one-week trip for a friend's party in Cannes, but so jealous you're going to the Dolomites. We will be over for 8 straight weeks next summer, so let's do our beer then! ❤️
Thanks Veronica! Actually the descent was just a nice little path around the back side of the mountain, so nothing to film there. But we definitely would have filmed it for you if we'd had to climb back down those crazy rock faces we came up!! ❤️
Wow, that is spectacular! I am a little concerned about your security, though. You are using a security kit without a fall damper by the looks of it. The single carabiner at the harness might catch a hard fall at its long side, where it is less stable. I strongly recommend to put in a second biner or use a kit with a damper, which is attached to the harness via bowline knot.
Hermann you are right that we don't have a typical fall damper with this setup in the sense of the tear-away webbing that many via ferrata kits come with. But the tethers we use are ultra-dynamic (they're typically used in hi-rise construction safety set-ups) so they should absorb the energy of a fall without putting too much stress on the central carabiner. Still, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to use two smaller carabiners rather than one big one just to hedge against the possibility of a catastrophic failure. ❤️
You folks are fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoy your videos. That said (and having done mountaineering around the world in years' gone-bye), I find your pure climbing videos to be more honest. There's something phony about these Via Ferratas. I don't dispute that they're exhilarating, but, barring making a personally induced technical error, the risk factor is pretty minimal.
Aw sorry to hear you don't care for the via ferrata vids. You're right that the ability to clip in makes them much safer than extreme mountaineering or class 4 scrambling, but in truth we really like that about them! It's so much fun to be able to climb up a gorgeous cliff face surrounded by great views without stressing about an imminent risk of death. But of course as you know we love to mix things up, so rest assured there will be plenty more steep peaks and sketchy traverses coming up the rest of the year as well! ❤️
Thanks very much, and you're right about not thinking about the drop. Once you trust the gear and enjoy it, this is a truly spectacular via ferrata, but it would not be fun if worried about those massive drops! ❤️
Bats are amazing, they know exactly where you are by using echo location by emitting high pitched sounds. They will not hit you, but may come very close.
That definitely tracks with our experience of it, Ellen -- they were buzzing right by us quite a few times but no contact whatsoever. And to be fair, it was us invading their cave so they had a right to be a little miffed! ❤️
Congrats on doing this, it looks incredible, hard and also really fun. I'm not trying to lecture, just asking out of interest - how come you're not using some kind of a resting system?
That's a great question, Kumat. On most of the commercial via ferrata systems people buy, there is tear-away webbing connected to the main tethers so you would use a separate sling connected to the harness if you wanted to take a rest (so as not to risk the tear-away webbing system on the main tethers). I built our system out of ultra-dynamic hi-rise construction tethers, so there is no tear-away webbing and we can just use the main tethers to rest if we want to. I also do have an extra non-dynamic sling and carabiner in the bag just in case we need it for anything, but we don't generally use it. --A
@@LiveHardxLoveHardOh that's really cool. The reason I was asking is that I just returned from Chamonix where I did the Parc Thermal via ferrata and had to use a resting sling several times in the last section or I wouldn't be able to make it. It was still a massive struggle even with the additional rest.
@@kumatmebrah9044 That is awesome!!! We did Parc Thermal a couple years ago, and I totally know what you're talking about. Especially with hanging from one arm filming, my arms were totally cooked by the end of that thing. What a great canyon ferrata it is -- so happy for you that you got to enjoy it! --A
That's such an amazing via ferrata. The rabies part got me chuckling because it's a real fear with them flying so close. Did you guys have to climb down the exact same route or is there an easier way down the mountain?
It really was a nice via -- just so much variation in it, and great views the whole way. Yes we took a much easier route down the mountain around the back side. Mostly it was just a steep hiking trail, with a couple of very light ferrata sections but nothing like down climbing that giant face would have been if we'd had to go back the way we came! ❤️
It was super chill, Jack -- no guide or permit needed, and there is a pretty easy to follow though steep in places trail around the backside to get down. It took us about 5 hours car to car, but that's with a lot of filming and then dropping and retrieving the GoPro. If you were just climbing and didn't take too many breaks you could prob do the whole thing in about 3. ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Thanks. That is now on the list of TODO's. Now I need to find other things in the southern part of France. Great video. You guys should get an endorsement deal with GoPro! ! !!!
Yes Mike! In fact, when we were climbing Konigsjodler in Austria last year we ran into some guys who were replacing some sections of an old one, and they were just as badass as you would expect!! ❤️
Haha well after having to down climb to retrieve the GoPro I definitely do have to admit that turning back on an overhung via ferrata is not so easy! ❤️
That's a great question, and yes. In fact, I worked out at a climbing gym this morning and did three 20 second hangs off of some round sloped balls that really strengthen the hands and forearms. --A
Man, how legit are those harnesses if you slip? I'd be afraid to slip then have to figure out how to get back to the footholds and handholds while dangling there at a weird angle.
Great question, Andrew. The harnesses are legit Black Diamond climbing harnesses, so you could take a good whipper in them and they'd hold up well. The tethers I made myself out of dynamic high rise construction tethers, so they're actually stronger than typical via ferrata tethers and should also hold up well. In truth, though, we haven't taken a real fall yet on a via ferrata so our only experience is the "fake" falls I did in the climbing gym when testing out the equipment. It def held up well there, though! ❤️
That is a great question! I know that there are well over a thousand of them just in our preferred areas of Italy, France, Switzerland, and Austria, so that alone will provide us with years of adventures! And probably at least a thousand in other countries too. I promise if you get started doing these, you will get addicted quickly! ❤️
🇫🇷 ☀️ 🦇🦇🦇 ⛰⛰ Sacre Bleu guys ! You two are definitely "bat shit" crazy ! I couldn't trust any one of those "imbedded" metal hoops ! 😁 Chapeau to the pair of you :) "Fun" ? ⚡ 😺😸 ❤
Haha well said, John! I'll tell you one thing for sure -- without those hoops the long overhang part would have been virtually impossible, so we pretty much had to trust those guys! ❤️
last words ,,,,"i dont want to get rabies"..........glad safety is priority one..note 2 self.....i'll wait for the gondola.........im always impressed but 2day very impressed,,,living life what ski resort is that?
We felt like we were living life on this trip for sure -- eating well, adventuring, and just having a blast for a week! The ski resort is La Colmiane -- totally gorgeous and would love to see it in winter! ❤️
ELISE and ADAM a hello from France. Exceptional video in the Alps, this time again his feat. Clinging to the steep walls, and after crossing a cave populated by bats, ignoring this devil's den, you both got close to the roof of the world, almost touching the stars. Hahaha if only. I had one offer from an Australian pro league coming out of college -- it paid barely into five figures, so I would have also had to have a real job in the off season. Still, I was tempted, but in retrospect glad I came to LA for grad school instead! --A

So cool! We’re there (walking London to Monaco next year) but don’t think we’d manage that via ferrata. Great video, loved it!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Hell yes! Be safe and eats lots of bread, cheese and vino!
What an adventure.Even a challenge to watch!😅 ❤❤
This one was an adventure for sure! It seemed like there was some kind of new and interesting challenge around every turn -- really a fun via ferrata. ❤️
Hello good day thanks for your hiking very highly see you soon with pleasure Gerard
Thanks so much, Gerard. Glad you enjoyed this one, and see you soon! ❤️
We learn the death from above at the end. Lightning! Great vid. Props for filming on the cable tightropes. Wow.
We totally agree, Catherine. It's just such a great thing that they create these routes and build them to last for generations of adventurers! ❤️
Fantastic climb... loving it! 💪🏻
So glad to hear that -- we love doing these via ferratas and sharing them with you guys!! ❤️
Dang! Another sweaty palm episode. Don't know how you do it. Respect and admiration for you 2
Thanks so much! We really, really love these via ferratas -- could probably do a couple every week for the next decade and be totally happy, and of course love sharing them with you guys! ❤️
Awesome!.
Thx for bringing the French Rivera to us;
Merci,
MN. Dave❤🎉
So glad to bring you, Dave! It was a short trip, but we definitely made the most of it!! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard awesome 💯😎💯
Wow! Incredible climb and views. Admit it - Adam went down to save the pop tart he dropped.
Hahah omg that would be so funny if he did that. I'm not sure even Adam would down climb a crux for a pop tart, but in truth I'm also not sure he wouldn't! 😂 --E
You 2 are insane!! And I’m here for it 😅❤
Haha yes!! That's what we love about this community -- all of us supporting one another in our joyful crazinesses! ❤️
My God some of the climbs you guys do is insane !!! hahaha no words, super glad you're out there living it up and this video was another highlight! as always stay safe and can't wait for the next one
Thanks Carl! We really appreciate that support of our whole lifestyle -- out there living it up is how we hope to always be!! ❤️
My legs are feeling weak just watching this from the comfort of my sofa😂 You guys are impressive!
Thanks Kim! We love taking you guys along on these via ferrata hikes -- they're so much fun to do, and also to watch the footage after and remember! ❤️
YIKES ,Very nervous, what if you slip I wouldn't even dare 😮 scary. Down below is a wonderful site it's gorgeous Thanks for sharing
Russell! ❤️
So jealous! Looks like an awesome via ferrata!
It was really a good one. Just constant variation from overhangs to bridges to caves to spires, lots of big drops and gorgeous views pretty much the whole way. Definitely recommend it for you guys! ❤️
You two are a pare of daredevils to take on that scary route. Beautiful scenery.
Thank you! Yes we were so happy when we got there and saw what the views were going to be -- it was just gorgeous the whole way, and we took plenty of breaks to sit and enjoy it! ❤️
❤❤❤❤
The tightrope looks crazy I don't think I have the guts to do it maybe I don't know I never tried
I think you would definitely have the guts to do it! It's just about trusting your equipment. After a few climbs and rappels in the climbing gym you would learn to trust that the harness and tether will hold you if anything bad happens, and you'd be off to the races! ❤️
Great route, fantastic video! I immediately want to travel there and climb it 😅
Yes Tomasz you would love this one! The views were amazing, and the iron was all beautifully maintained. A very fun route from beginning to end. ❤️
Oh, this one is not for beginners! Great Job Guys!
That was a very rare safe snack!
Haha yes! Though I guess when you factor in the possibility of lightning it did have a very slight danger factor 😂
The French: "for-mee-dah-bluh," formidable!
Haha that's good looking out, because we need a lot of work on our pronunciation of all things French!
Great, glad the book got to you!
-Liam
Haha thanks for owning up to the jinx, Liam -- and glad you didn't jinx us with the bats!! ❤️
Very cool. Glad I can just watch, lol.
Haha thanks much, and very glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
Love it, Mark! We're going to have to start using it next summer when we'll be in the Alps and Dolomites for 8 whole weeks -- formidable for sure!! ❤️
Those tightropes - jeesh!
Yes! I think this one had more tightropes per kilometer than any via we've ever done! ❤️
i wish i could do stuff like this! so brave ahah
I really think you'll be able to do via ferratas, Maddy! It's just about getting used to the equipment and trusting that it would hold you if anything happened. It takes a little while, but is so worth it to be able to do these kinds of amazing climbs!! ❤️
Wow. Totally fearless. How do you both overcome fear?
That's a great question -- mostly it's through exposure training, just gradually exposing ourselves to scarier and scarier drops until it starts to feel normal. That's why Adam always picks those crazy snack spots with his legs dangling, just to keep himself trained not to fear those crazy drops. ❤️
Brilliant Video Lads! No Rabies in France for at least this century btw, as is the vast majority of Western Europe with mainly imported cases popping uo
That is great information, Gerry -- thank you! Will for sure make us feel better about going into European caves in the future! ❤️
that was some hike with the swaying narrow bridge , the tight rope in the bat cave, i do wonder how you can also film it all for us. did you have to go back the same on the way back.
Awesome video Guys. are we getting the descent?
Man, you sure got guts. Sure is pretty when not thinking about that huge drop though. Take care you 2.
Thanks very much, and you're right about not thinking about the drop. Once you trust the gear and enjoy it, this is a truly spectacular via ferrata, but it would not be fun if worried about those massive drops! ❤️
2:04 this is insane. And all I can think of is Short Round yelling to Dr. Jones
Haha nice Indie reference!!
2 rock cables up"- intense French Bat Cave climbing with outstanding views"
Haha yes! Very glad you liked it!! ❤️
awesome. How long did this take you? And how did you get back down? Is there a trail on the backside?? (hopefully). Do you need a permit? Or a guide?
It was super chill, Jack -- no guide or permit needed, and there is a pretty easy to follow though steep in places trail around the backside to get down. It took us about 5 hours car to car, but that's with a lot of filming and then dropping and retrieving the GoPro. If you were just climbing and didn't take too many breaks you could prob do the whole thing in about 3. ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Thanks. That is now on the list of TODO's. Now I need to find other things in the southern part of France. Great video. You guys should get an endorsement deal with GoPro! ! !!!
Do you ever stop to think what it took to build these ferratas?
Yes Mike! In fact, when we were climbing Konigsjodler in Austria last year we ran into some guys who were replacing some sections of an old one, and they were just as badass as you would expect!! ❤️
"if we can't do it , we'll turn back".
Sure. 😆
Haha well after having to down climb to retrieve the GoPro I definitely do have to admit that turning back on an overhung via ferrata is not so easy! ❤️
In your training, do you include exercise for your hands and forearms? It looks like this type of climb would require it.
That's a great question, and yes. In fact, I worked out at a climbing gym this morning and did three 20 second hangs off of some round sloped balls that really strengthen the hands and forearms. --A
@@LiveHardxLoveHard oh good to know, thank you! It seems like your forearms, wrists, and hands need to be ready for a climb of that difficulty
WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT!
Seriously, that looks like a TOTAL blast! I love the video!
Haha it really was amazing, Thomas -- so fun and beautiful. Highly recommend! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Nice! Thanks for the detailed reply! Glad you tested your set up beforehand and got some good use out of it! Take care.

That's great Serge -- drive safe, and hope you like it!! ❤️ --E
How many vias ferrata are there in the world? Curious to know approx - Why haven't I tried them all? Why haven't I even done 1 ?
That is a great question! I know that there are well over a thousand of them just in our preferred areas of Italy, France, Switzerland, and Austria, so that alone will provide us with years of adventures! And probably at least a thousand in other countries too. I promise if you get started doing these, you will get addicted quickly! ❤️
I hate to burst your bubble.. but some of those “bats” were actually swallows!
Oh my gosh we really needed that information when we were on that tightrope, because we were way more scared of bats than of falling 🙈❤️

ELISE and ADAM a hello from France. Exceptional video in the Alps, this time again his feat.
