Yes it really was a fun one, and a great first via ferrata for anyone who's interested in getting started -- not too difficult, but very interesting and enjoyable and in a super fun little town! ❤️
That's well said, Andrea, and exactly how we were feeling when we went. We'd been partying in Cannes, which was fabulous, but being out in this gorgeous serene place was a perfect and restful complement to all that social interaction! ❤️
Yes Gabby! It was very much like a fun obstacle course -- not too hard or scary, but just enjoyable and interesting the whole way. A perfect vacation route! ❤️
You guys make those climbs look so easy, and the views are amazing, as always! Thank you for including us in your awesome adventures! See you guys next Thursday! 😉
Jak ja Was podziwiam za siłę w rękach ,za brak strachu,za piękny wygląd i serducha widać że jesteście dla siebie ...miło się na Was patrzy kochni naprawdę fajna z Was para.Kochajcie sie❤
Thanks so much, Agnieszka! You are right about trusting and being there for each other -- it is the most important thing on these adventures, and we will always keep doing that! ❤️
Actually Lantosque has three parts and three exits and the first one is really easy. So you actually can stop after each part or exit before the bridge.
Yes Billy you should do it!! It is a perfect beginner route, and since most of it is not too high above the river you can learn to trust the equipment without too much of a feeling of vertigo. Really hope you do it, because then you will be hooked on via ferratas for sure! ❤️
I just can’t get the smile off my face! Just do enjoyable to watch you guys having so much fun. Thanks again sooo much for your videos. Miss the bats 🦇 🦇🦇 What a beautiful place on this planet!🌸🌹🌺
Haha thanks Mary! We did not miss the bats, but sure did have a great time in that canyon. Every time we do one of these adventures we just feel so blessed to be able to explore these different corners of the planet, and of course love taking you along there with us! ❤️
Thanks Jules, it really was beautiful in there. Even though it wasn't as high as the bridge, the one that made us tremble the most was the really wobbly tightrope in the middle -- that thing felt crazy to cross because it was just going every which way! ❤️
The highest quality videos guaranteed haha! cheers guys. Incredible! We're off to Krakow for 6 days in the next week, not for hiking specifically but I'm a big tourist at heart too can't wait to explore and get involved in the culture, I think there's a small hike we can do close by though! the salt mines should be fun to explore too!
Carl that sounds so fun! If you get a chance, do the Eagle's Nest trail so you can see some cool castles -- that one's definitely on our list for whenever we make it to Poland. Hope you have a great time!! ❤️
So beautiful along that Canyon with the river on the bottom.. Glad Adam got the GoPro back... Maybe this one I could have done it.. Really so much fun Elise... Have a great evening and weekend... 😘✌️🇫🇷🍷
That looked like you were having the most fun of any adventure with no chance of getting lost or having to bushwack your way through. That was so cool with the town right there.
Totally true, Monte! We had an absolute blast, and were really glad that this was an easy one because to be honest we were slightly hung over that morning 😂
Crushed it! That looks like a super fun outing. Amazing, if not a surprise, that you two managed to get your butts off the Sierras and over to France on a moments notice and then knocked off two via ferratas in between partying. Impressive, but hey...
Haha thanks GW! Ya this one was definitely the right speed for us after a couple days of partying -- we wouldn't have wanted anything too difficult on a hangover 😂
You need a more challenging hike. You made those cables seem so easy for both of you. I love this UA-cam channel you guys always manage to take us to places I never been
Haha you are right -- this one was very easy for us, but that's not necessarily a bad thing because we had been partying the night before so it was good to take it a little easy! So glad you enjoy the variety of our adventures -- we love taking you guys all over the world and will def keep doing that in the future! ❤️
Thanks Paul! We were stoked to show you guys this one just because it was so different from our usual adventures, and also because it would make a great starter via ferrata for people who are interested in getting into it. ❤️
I see so many different muscle groups being engaged with this climb. Looks like a solid core workout staying balanced on the wires/ropes. You guys make it look easy!
You're totally right about that. This one was easy enough that we weren't sore from it, but when we do really long hard ones we can feel that whole body workout the next day -- especially the upper back, lower back, arms and legs! ❤️
So... be glad the GoPro fell at the beginning in the relatively calm water and not in some of those roiling rapids later?! That was a pretty cool adventure!
Ya exactly right Jeff -- it was still a PITA to get down to it, but much better than if it had fallen later. And a good lesson that when it's disconnected from the tripod handle (which basically disintegrated the previous hike) it needs to be zipped up or it will make its escape 😂 --A
You’re putting your early retirement to good use guys! You sure didn’t waste any time. Are you in a hurry? Remember to stop and smell the roses! 🌹 Lol! Ok guys, are you holding back on us that once you were the high wire act in a European circus? Great stuff Jellybean and PopTart! Thank you for sharing! ❤️
Haha LB you are the best! And honestly, you're right about slowing down to smell the roses. We have definitely been traveling pretty hard over the first few months of being nomadic, but we are gradually learning to slow down and enjoy those roses. Love you! ❤️
ELISE and ADAM a hello from France. Superb hike in unreal gorges probably dug by the druids to offer a peaceful bed to the sometimes turbulent river. It's not as easy as you seem to show, and behind your amused laughter accompanied by ELISE's voice and music, we see the concentration that sometimes appears on ELISE's face. At the exit of the gorges, like a mirage placed on a thimble, the elegance of a church welcomes you. Magnificent ! Kisses to you both.
Tres beau!!! Merci comme toujours pour tes mots gentils! ❤️
What a gorgeous location! As someone who is terrified of heights, and sometimes I get dizzy just watching your videos, I think I could do this one! Good video A and E!!😎👍 Edit: *No way!!* That climb out at the end and that bridge 😮 I just couldn't do that part!
You could definitely do this one! There's actually an exit option before the final climb, so you could do the first two sections and get a feel for the whole via ferrata vibe without having to do that giant vertical at the end. Here's betting you will love it!! ❤️
That's a great suggestion, and definitely something we enjoy doing. We actually have been doing that with some of the members videos, but in really special places like this we'll consider doing it on the main channel as well! ❤️
Hi there!! What an awesome video!! I am glad you were able to recover your gopro too!! My wife and I are on a 2 week camping trip in Colorado. We started up north by Steamboat Springs to get to see the beginnings of the aspen leaf color changes. We will relocate tomorrow to an area close to Vail Pass, before the next batch of snow gets us planted for a couple of days. Then we will shift to the Leadville (home of the Northern end of the Nolan 14 [check it out online].
Alan that is amazing -- so stoked for you guys! We're heading to Colorado next week as well, and very excited for the fall colors. But we are worried about all this early snowfall because it might derail some of our 14er plans! ❤️
Awesome! And interesting that you say it could be a good "beginner" via ferrata. I wouldn't say it exactly looks easy but I could see that it didn't seem to demand the same kind of strength and stamina and technique that I've seen in your videos from, for example, the Dolomites.
Yes Catherine! If you are interested in starting out with via ferrata this would be a great one to start with, because there wasn't too much vertical climbing and there were almost no overhangs, which are definitely the most challenging sections in via ferratas. There are some great starter routes in the Dolomites too, but as you say also some really challenging ones. If you wanted to start out with a Dolomites one then Piccolo Cir would be a good choice -- so beautiful, but not too long or difficult. ❤️
I had soo much pleasure seeing you do Lantosque because a year ago, I did it myself (except the third part, but did the bridge from the back entry). It is a pity that you couldn't do the zipline. Last year, the zipline was still usable, but you needed to bring or rent the pulley yourself, and rental was open weekends only from September.
Rainer that is so great that you did Lantosque! Yes we were looking forward to doing the zip line, but still felt satisfied by that lovely trek through the canyon and past all the waterfalls. What a beautiful little town as well, right? ❤️
The mtn goats transform into canyon crawlers -- this was a unique experience! Now pls can you get that wrist strap for the skydiving camera? Your adventures always have me smiling the whole way thru. Safe journey home! -Liam
Haha yes Liam, we either need to wrist strap it or at least replace that mini-tripod which was keeping it in place in Adam's pocket before. But these unscheduled GoPro retrieval missions cannot continue! ❤️
This was an absolutely beautiful one! The waters were so blue and gorgeous, and you guys did it such justice! By the way, what happened to your leg Adam?!😢 8:06
Thanks Samantha! We had an absolute blast on this one. The leg thing was actually an injury from the previous via ferrata we did (the "Death from Above" one from last week, which had a lot of gnarly overhangs and got me pretty scraped up. Still, was totally worth it. ❤️ --A
Yes! We're trying to replace the mini-tripod which has always helped it to stay put in Adam's pocket, but if we can't get the right tripod then we for sure need a lanyard! ❤️
The questions I have about almost any via Ferrata: how did the folks who established these install all the cables and handholds? And how safe and dependable are they? Have you had any experience of a rung or cable coming loose on you? I did notice as you were proceeding through the canyon that both of you used the same methods that you described in your long-ago rock climbing video: always maintain 3 points of contact, and test your holds before committing your weight to them. Plus, it looked like even for a path you called "easy", both of you were often taking your time and appeared to be thinking through the next step . Gorgeous area!
That's a great question, Lewis. Some of the older ones in Italy were installed during WWI for Italian soldiers to get the high ground, but most of them have been updated and they're all very well maintained so far as we've seen. It seems like all the European countries keep them in really good shape, and we've never had a problem. You're totally right that we do tend to use our regular climbing techniques on the via ferratas -- it might not be totally necessary on the easier ones, but it's good just to keep in the 3-points habit! ❤
Love that you reply to nearly all the comments so here goes… What happened to your Angels Landing video? Tried to share it with a friend who is going next week and couldn’t find it!
Oh so sorry we had to remove it! Some Karen complained that it was too dangerous or we were being irresponsible on it or something, so YT put it on some kind of inappropriate for ads list and we removed it because we didn't want it to affect our other vids. The Karens are out there for real, and a constant PITA! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Pretty sure you’ve done more extreme ones than that! Can’t you just re upload it? Don’t pander to the Karens!! Regards to both of you. Climb safe!
Quite late to the recent vids due to a Glacier (MT)/Banff camping trip, but I’m excited to catch up! Seems like Adam is making a habit of the GoPro rescues; I’m starting to wonder if they’re intentional
Colby that trip sounds totally awesome! Did you hike any of the passes like Cory or Saddleback? Really want to get up there for some adventures. Meanwhile, also really need a new GoPro tripod/handle because that thing is hard to keep hold of otherwise 😂
@@LiveHardxLoveHard went through saddleback pass and up to Fairview summit which was incredible! Also did sentinel pass which I would say was even better, but couldn’t summit Mount Temple due to snow conditions. Summited Reynolds mountain in glacier though, and I highly recommend for a relatively easy scramble with insane payoff if you head back there. Had Cory pass and pharaoh peak saved as options but didn’t have time in the trip
@@colbyclay5911 Freaking fantastic! That's good to know about Sentinel as well. Really stoked for you that you got up there -- very high on our list and will for sure happen at some point.
Haha we each have two via ferrata tethers, so that we can unhook and re-hook one while still being attached all the time. So technically I could have even descended another 6 feet or so by using the 4th tether! --A
That is a critical question! We did not see Pop Tarts in the stores, but fortunately France is stocked with great carbs -- all kinds of cookies and pastries and delicious bread -- so Adam doesn't miss the Pop Tarts there as much as he does in other countries! ❤️
How do you find out about these amazing places? In America, it is verbotten placing steel ladders, platforms, etc. into the rock, as you know, but this makes me wonder if maybe it should be allowed in some places, so that adventurers who are not extreme rock climbers can enjoy it. By the way, I don't know if you heard about the Bridge fire in the San Gabriel mountains which started a couple weeks ago, but tragically it burned some of the most beautiful areas we love so much, like the Iron Mountain area, much of the San Antonio ridge, and from Heaton Flats all the way up to Wrightwood and Mt. Baldy Village. I read that the Bridge to Nowhere was destroyed. Thanks to the heroic efforts of our firefighters, the villages of Wrightwood and Mt. Baldy were saved, although several homes were lost. It will take many decades for the area to be restored. Manker Flats and the Ski Hut trail were not affected, and the blaze stopped a short distance west of West Baldy. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, I believe. Apparently it is still burning, although 69% contained, and threatening the Mt. Baden Powell area. Almost 55,000 acres have burned.I read that the Bridge to Nowhere was destroyed.
Oh my gosh David we have totally been following it and are so sad! As you know we love Iron Mountain, and have climbed it many times including the Iron to Baldy traverse which is now also destroyed. We feel really fortunate to be able to just travel the world to where the weather is good and nothing is on fire! As for picking hikes, we love scouring the internet and of course UA-cam for good ideas, and also get tons of recommendations from you guys! ❤️
Hey I just left a comment on an older video of your about your ferrata set but I figured youre more likely to read it here. Sorry i dont want to spoil the fun and trust me im not a huge stickler for safety but i noticed youre using an incomplete ferrata set. You only have the lanyards without the shock absorber. Those are basically static lines and could break your back or even break your harness/themselves if you fall on them on a vertical. Even a factor 1 fall (basically falling on a horizontal section) could seriosly injur you with static lines like this. A higher factor fall (on a vertical) could cause very serious injury. Pls consider buying a full ferrata set with a shock absorber. If you want to see more about what falling on static protection can do to you, there are plenty of videos about it on youtube mainly about static personal anchors from channels like howNot2. Anyways keep exploring and having fun out there! Edit: Just to be clear, the lanyards being stretchy absorbs basically no force, its purely for ease of handling on a ferrata. It is still a static line inside.
Thank you for your concern. However you are incorrect about the tethers. I made this setup myself out of ultra dynamic tethers that would very easily absorb a 5-10 foot fall, which is all you would have on a via ferrata. We definitely know what we are doing and made these for our specific needs as avid climbers and filmers. So no need to worry ❤️
OMG Bill you are right about that. After years of never dropping it, it took a fall two hikes in a row after the tripod broke off! We're ordering a new mini-tripod so hopefully that will solve it. ❤️
It's absolutely stunning, and what an adventure!! So, I owe you a report on my Skyline 30 fastpack. I mentioned before I was getting. First, sorry it has taken a while to report on this. The work schedule and heat (gotta love the Vegas heat) have made it difficult to test the pack. First thing first, with the vest harness of the pack and dual chest straps along with optional(can be removed) waist strap, this pack hugs the body with very minimal movement while you run or hike. Secondly, and this is for Adam, there is nice stash pockets on the harness for optimal snacks (pop tart) storage along with gels and other goodies you may want or need. Next up the size. At 30L plus a nice outside stretch pocket, you can store everything you can pretty much desire. **Note #1** This pack will make it difficult to carry a food canister inside for the Sierras where one is needed. However, with that being said, there is a nice Y strap for a small bear canister if you absolutely must need a bear canister. This pack is definitely worthy of a max 2 to 3 day adventure carrying ultralight necessities. The Skyline 30 does come with 2 hydraflax bottles. Also, the capacity of carrying a water bladder internally with port if needed. I have yet to use it overnight on trail, but will soon test it out in my local mountains now that the weather has turned for the better here in the dessert climate. I have used it so far for training walks around my neighborhood 3 times for a nice 8 mile loop I do for just putting in walking miles. If I forgot to mention, the Skyline 30L is made by Outdoor Vitals if you are interested in a look. I see you both may be using something like this on a possible 1 to 2 night adventure out in the backcountry. Thank you for your sharing your adventures. Mark
☀️ 🦅 🇫🇷 Should've known better 😁 There l was, for a few minutes thinking yeah, this might be do able, crossing the wobbly tightropes :) Sure enough, only gonna end in one direction ! ⏫ Has to be one of the most vertigo inducing "Snack Spots", that bridge adding the height factor ! 😺😸 ❤
Haha you could definitely do this one, John! That one tightrope was really wobbly, but at least it wasn't too high up. This would be a great via ferrata to get started on! ❤️
WHAT A a great trip. Looks fun...

Love that you reply to nearly all the comments so here goes…
What happened to your Angels Landing video? Tried to share it with a friend who is going next week and couldn’t find it!
Oh so sorry we had to remove it! Some Karen complained that it was too dangerous or we were being irresponsible on it or something, so YT put it on some kind of inappropriate for ads list and we removed it because we didn't want it to affect our other vids. The Karens are out there for real, and a constant PITA! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard
Pretty sure you’ve done more extreme ones than that!
The "rope" for the GoPro rescue was made from 3 tethers... So, 3 tethers?! I knew there was a hidden cameraman somewhere!
Haha we each have two via ferrata tethers, so that we can unhook and re-hook one while still being attached all the time. So technically I could have even descended another 6 feet or so by using the 4th tether! --A
Do they sell Pop-Tarts in Lantask, do you have to bring your own or did you buy a different snack over there?
That is a critical question! We did not see Pop Tarts in the stores, but fortunately France is stocked with great carbs -- all kinds of cookies and pastries and delicious bread -- so Adam doesn't miss the Pop Tarts there as much as he does in other countries! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard excellent... So good stuff there and then gets to look forward to Pop tarts again once back in the states lol
Is there an oversight? Did someone forget to play the "non-sense song" from Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times at 1:45? Oui oui. 😉
Haha we def need to get some more comedic music working, Robert!
After that via Ferrata you should be certified as a tite rope walker.
Haha yes Mickey -- that one wobbly one in the middle is like the final boss of tight rope walking! ❤️
I'm thinking king the GoPro needs a lanyard...just sayin'
Mark
Mark it sounds amazing! 30 liters is a perfect fastpacking size too -- glad you are loving it! ❤️
☀️ 🦅 🇫🇷
Should've known better 😁
There l was, for a few minutes
thinking yeah, this might be do able, crossing the wobbly tightropes :)
Sure enough, only gonna end in one direction ! ⏫
Has to be one of the most vertigo inducing "Snack Spots", that bridge adding the height factor !
😺😸 ❤
Haha you could definitely do this one, John! That one tightrope was really wobbly, but at least it wasn't too high up. This would be a great via ferrata to get started on! ❤️
