    Not sure as I didn't scan every comment on this video but, at 2:00 mark, should be mentioned to clear off the CPU with alcohol before adding the thermal paste and installing the new fan.

      True, but I did this more of a review and not as a detailed how to guide, as there are lots of them out there.

    I have the XPS 8940 with the i7 11700 CPU. I bought the Vetroo V5 based on this video, I am extremely pleased! I cannot believe the results! In real world situations, mainly gaming, I have not seen a temp above 76 Celsius. I was frequently hitting the 100 Celsius thermal throttling mark prior. At idle, I am seeing temps in the mid to high 20's! Unbelievable results. The install was as easy as you mentioned, everything included, no removing mother board, thermal paste works well. Immediate results, and no errors on startup. It also has helped the total air flow in the case, I do not hear the GPU (RTX 3060 Ti) ramp the fans up or anything. The CPU fan I got with the cooler isn't making a whisper of a sound. So quite.

      I'm glad to hear it! While it might not be the best performing out there for anyone overclocking, in a Dell it seems to work perfectly, installs easily, and just works. I'm glad too that your fan isn't making any noises. Mine I think was just a manufacturing variation.

    Great Video. Were you able to figure out how to control the fan speeds? After installing seems to lock the fans at full speed and diagnostic tool says fans not detected.

    • @ntgm20
      @ntgm20  3 роки тому

      The system seems to control everything just fine for me, and I had no issues other than the noise the fan made. I can control the speed some with HwiNFO64, but I keep the System Auto unless testing something.

      @@ntgm20 The noise is because the fan RPM is set high but there is no way to adjust fan speeds with aftermarket fans. 1800 rpm on idle is very high.

    Great video. I want to try Vetroo V5 cpu cooler on G5 5000. I am not a computer tech-type guy, so when I try this DIY style work myself, the installation must be easy.
    Vetroo package contain everything neccesary, including screws, etc, to place Vetroo onto G5 5000 motherboard? No other purchase required other than purchase of Vetroo V5 cpu cooler?
    Can I just place Vetroo onto motherboard just out of the box?
    Thank you.

      The one I purchased had it all except the actual screw driver for installation. As you'd be removing one you'd also want rubbing alcohol and wipes to get off all the old thermal paste. The thermal paste they provide has worked great too. Did your G5 come with the small cooler like my XPS did?
      There is nothing more really than removing the old CPU cooler and putting this one on. You can find the Dell manuals online too that show your PC and how to remove it / what is specific to your machine to get at it.

      As long as your stock Intel cooler is not a push clip design, you should be good to go. Most prebuilts have the CPU cooler screwed in. I have an 8940, but I wanted to do a test run on a Comet Lake build that was running hot. It has an Asrock board, and a back plate was required. It was a tedious process on that installation. I feel that I’m more prepared for the 8940.

    Hello! Quick question. I was getting ready to purchase and install the upgraded premium Dell cooler in my Dell Inspiron 3670. I was assured it would install just as easy as it does on the XPS 8940. Seeing what you have done though, would you recommend I go straight to the Vetroo? (regular or upgraded fan like you did) or just stay with the premium Dell cooler? That dell cooler will be minimum $55-$60 on Ebay though. If I can get the Vetroo cheaper that seems like the better option. Thanks!

    • @ntgm20
      @ntgm20  3 роки тому +1

      From a cost perspective I'd say go with the Vetroo. I don't have the upgraded Dell cooler to compare, but I don't think either would be bad. If you do go with Vetroo I'd skip ordering a fan to replace the one they give you. So far I've not seen anyone commenting on theirs making a noise like mine did. In the end though it is up to you and what you want your machine to be.

      @@ntgm20 Thank you! The stock cooler isn't terrible since I am only running an i5-8400 and a GTX 1070, but I tried Overwatch on a free week and it turned off the computer! That got me researching. Will I need intake cooling?? The Inspiron 3670 has a solid plastic front with no airflow. Also, I do have 2 80mm fans mounted in the rear for exhaust. Interestingly Dell provided a exact mounting solution in the rear of the Inspiron 3670 for the 2 80mm fans.
      Lastly! Sorry, would you recommend adding a second fan to the other side of the heatsink? Or would you think the 2 80mm would do enough of a job blowing the hot air out?

      Theres another video floating around comparing the dell premium tower cooler (which comes with K model cpus) to a noctua nh-u9s using cinebench. I don’t remember the exact percentage difference but the noctua blew the dell cooler away. That got me to order one for myself.

      @@JohnDoe-ls2ww I forgot to update! I purchased the Vetroo V5 for my Inspiron 3670 and its fits perfectly with the intel brackets. There was no need to access the backplate, which I most likely could not do on the Inspiron anyway. The only downside is it was too tall inside. Luckily the top of the cooler is right over the vent. I was able to snip and peel back the metal so the Vetroo sticks a little bit out. Idle temp is 29c and it wont go to past 59c so far. I even have my front bezel off and have another 120mm Vetroo SY-120 on the front for intake. A third Kingwin 80mm is also on the side for intake as well. I still have the 2 80mm in the rear spots for exhaust. I'm so glad Dell put those 2 vents on the side! It looks a little weird but It went from having one stock cooler fan to having 5 total fans.

    Hi, is it possible you can add another fan to the other side of the cpu heat sink to cool it down better?

    • @ntgm20
      @ntgm20  2 роки тому

      You could easily add another fan with the included clips, you would just need a power cable splitter to run both fans from the motherboard. As for better cooling, there are some videos out there showing how much that helps, and IIRC it isn't as much as you might think.

    hey i was curious if this cpu cooler works with the dell g5 since they have the same build style and same stock cpu cooler and the Vetroo V5 comes with a specific backplate for the cooler did you have to install the cpu backplate and swap it out for the stock one? cause if not i should be able to easily change the cooler on my desktop with no worry about the cpu backplate

    • @ntgm20
      @ntgm20  Рік тому

      If the G5 was available with a tower air cooler then I don't see why it wouldn't fit. The V5 isn't crazy tall. I didn't have to install a backplate, the XPS case has standoffs built in for the cooler to attach to. The V5 bolts went in with no issue, no need to take out the MB and swap anything out. I hope this information helps!

    How tight much did you tighten the screws down. I have the same cooler but my system is throttling at 60c

    • @ntgm20
      @ntgm20  3 роки тому

      I tightened them snug, in a X pattern, working around a few turns at a time until they all bottom out. How are you seeing throttling? By Dell's implementation the CPU will not stay at the full Turbo boost for more than 30 seconds, IIRC. I just did a stress test with CPU-Z and while it starts out at 4.6 GHZ, it then steps down to around 4.3 GHz, and I'm getting 76°C with no increase in fan speed.
      My temps are that high now because of the VRM heatsink. It keeps the VRMs cool enough to not make a call to increase fan speed. It is quite weird.

    • @theonetruelife
      @theonetruelife 3 роки тому

      @@ntgm20 When I do a Cinebench benchmark it stays around 4.6 GHZ for around 28 seconds and then goes down to 3.2 GHZ for the rest of the test. Temps stay around 60c with a high of 71c. I have removed the heatsink and reinstalled it but saw the same thing. Non-stress test temps are 32c to 45c I also replaced the 80mm fan in the rear of the case with a 92mm fan to help with cooling.
      After some more research online I downloaded Intel's Extreme Tuning Utility and noticed the CPU is not terminal throttling but instead Power Limit throttling. Not sure how to fix this and it is weird because during gaming the CPU is hitting 4.8GHZ and temps are around 55c.

      Finally got it installed, and the throttling is gone. I haven’t hit 80 or 90 degrees since installing. Aside from adding an 8 and 10TB HDD, this might be my favorite upgrade (minus the fan noise). Your video really made this an easy task, compared to having to pull the whole board on a sleeper build. The thing that worried me is how close it is to the capacitors by the power delivery mosfets.
      I recommend this unit if your stock cooler is mounted with screws, or if you’re building your own PC that hasn’t been assembled yet.
