Can One Thrive in this industry without formal IT training?

One of my viewers asked me if its possible to thrive as an AV technicican if one isn't IT savvy. Me or you? I've been doing professional AV for over 23 years and it's only been less than 10 years since I figured this out "correctly". I still have trouble with 100' XLR cables. Heavier cables (COAX, SDI, HDMI) are really challenging too.
