I think my Mom needs to get this watch! She falls all the time, she is almost 70 years old. I am very thankful with all her tumbles she has not broken anything yet! Thanks for this video Eric!!
Someone should equip a crash test dummy and simulate falls that have the force of actual hard falls. Nice vid nonetheless. The first one I found that triggered the feature.
Chantal Cyr I was wondering if this would be a good idea or not, because I can’t move my hands at all when I have one of my seizures. They just freeze for 30 to 45 minutes until I come out of it.
Tymoo GSA I get a weird feeling in throughout my body that’s kind of like the “RED ALERT! HIT THE DECK!” kind of thing. My heart rate goes nuts too for some reason. My automatic instinct is to grab and squealed the crap out of something otherwise my hands/fingers will hurt like crazy! I don’t know if anyone else gets excruciating pains in their hands and fingers, but I do! It’s murder!
Xtina Oddrocks I really hope it doesn’t happen to you anymore and it gets cured im kinda thankful that i get a generalized seizure and i pass out and wake up in the hospital even though i wake up with a bleeding tongue it’s alright and also im very very thankful to god that it only happened once to me and im constant on my medication Almost 1 year since first and last seizure hope it doesn’t happen again for us both it really sucks
I need an answer because I don’t know what’s going on. I gave my uncle an Apple Watch series 5 because sometimes he falls. When I went to put the fall detection option it did not come out. I don’t know why since I have an IPhone XR and an AW5 in regular version. Can somebody help me?
I have a question I want to get the the series 4 with gps only. And Apple staff on the phone told me that the fall detection feature won’t work with the GPS . Is that true ? She told me it will only work with Gps and cellular feature but I don’t want the cellular to save money.
Well, what she told you was not totally false but it wasn’t completely accurate: the fall detection is available on every AW4. On the non-cellular version, if you fall and your iPhone is within Bluetooth range, it will use your iphone signal to place the call. But on the non-cellular version, if you are NOT within Bluetooth range of your phone, it won’t be able to call for help. That extra feature is only on the cellular version.
My watch didn't alert when I got in a motorcycle accident and got ejected off. The watch was hit pretty hard too, but I had a screen protector so there's only damage on the case. Not sure why it didn't trigger.
Nice work Techy Agent. Another video that shows it doesn't go off unless it is a simulations very close to an actual fall which great. BTW, what weather app are you using for your complication in the middle?
@@TechyAgent I think the weather app complication looks great too. I've looked EVERYWHERE to try to get the hourly display like yours (or even 5 day display would be useful too). Any tips on how to the complication to display hourly like in your video?
Yikes! I guess your back must be feeling better! :) I wonder if it would trigger on a falling ride like Splash Mountain, etc, at Disneyland. Probably not, as It seems like the "false positive" filtering is pretty good from what I've seen. You're the first person I've seen be able to trigger it on YT so far.
👍 Thanks! My back is feeling much better, I’ve been having a doctor look at it once a week for a few weeks now, and I’m almost “clear” for all activities. Yes, I saw several other videos where they were not able to trigger the fall detection and so I wanted to see if I would be able to do it! It seems to work better with a backwards fall as opposed to a front fall.
I don’t think the Apple Watch works by measuring high g-forces to detect a fall. It is most likely all about a trained machine learning model that is trained on real falls as well as normal activity including different forms of exercise. There is a Swedish company that sells a bicycle airbag helmet. It also uses an algorithm to detect when you fall to automatically inflate the airbag. It has proven to be very very safe and not produce false positives nor fail when needed. You can see and read more about them here: hovding.com/video/ So basically, the Apple Watch didn’t fail, it just outsmarted you ;)
I was at work, talking to a customer about someone. I told the customer that the guy is going to be woken up one early morning by pounding on his door. I hit the counter a few times really hard with the heel on my palm. Like I was beating on a door. Well I had an alarm set for 6:45AM and right after I did the pounding my watch started the alarm noise. I was thinking it was my alarm going off so I ignored it a few seconds. The customer left and I looked at my watch and had 2 seconds to stop it from calling 911. LMAO
I'm really looking forward to the video on your favorite workout/exercise apps for the Apple Watch. I have experimented with more of these apps than I've had hot dinners in the past couple months! After every experiment, I always come back to the fitness app, WorkOutDoors. IMO, it is the state of the art in Apple Watch fitness apps. But, enough of my opinion. 🤐
The fall feature is totally bogus. My doctor recommended I get it because I have a tendency to fall. I got the Apple Watch 5. I fell 6 feet off a ladder onto concrete in my garage and the fall feature didn't activate. I stepped out of our sunken living room and tripped and fell face first onto a hardwood floor. Nada I slipped in the bathroom hit my head badly and skinned up my elbow. Again nothing. I have spent probably 6 hours with Apple Support and effectively they said "You're not falling correctly. You should get a llifeline." I spent $500 on this stupid watch for one feature and that feature doesn't work. Totally a waste of money..
Thanks for the video! It was awesome I fell ALL like ALL the time I will buy me one of those xD xD jajaja Goodbye! P.D.: srry for the bad spelling I don’t speak English at ALL but I did try my best Thank you -Gaby
He actually begins the test 3:24
Thank you!
Thanks!!!

👍 Yeah, I this could be a really useful feature for those who fall a lot!
This can be done by app on appstore or google play store .. dont need AW4 for this.
reminded of this => ua-cam.com/video/ab8GtuPdrUQ/v-deo.html
lol if it worked flawless , 1 out 3 times is bad
Dr Hani awadallah
Let's give this to neymar.
Lol
Blind3d yes
🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
LOL
Can you elaborate more in this helpful video how loved ones are notified if someone has fallen ... thanks
I wonder if the fall feature will function on theme park rides like rollercoasters or drop rides.
Good question! I imagine that enough g-force could definitely trigger it.
why would a 65+ year old average adult be on one of those...
why not?
Antonio Armijo imagine that😂😂😂😂😂😂
I’ll find out soon im going to Orlando studios. I’m going to rest the heart monitor too, so I can see how fast my pulse is when I panic
Big fan of your iPhone wallpaper. Have a link where you found it?
I can’t remember where I found it but if you send me a message on Facebook messenger or Instagram, I can send you the picture to use
Help I’ve fallen and I can’t get up! We’re sending help now Mrs. Fletcher.
Someone should equip a crash test dummy and simulate falls that have the force of actual hard falls. Nice vid nonetheless. The first one I found that triggered the feature.
Yeah, crash test dummy or some sort of fake dummy body would be a great way to test this.
Mythbusters :3
I’m getting a series 4 today! I love the fall detection option. I have Epilepsy and I really hope this helps.
Same thinggg i got the series 5 for fall detection i have epilepsy too
Chantal Cyr I was wondering if this would be a good idea or not, because I can’t move my hands at all when I have one of my seizures. They just freeze for 30 to 45 minutes until I come out of it.

Are you conscious when you get it or do u fall

This fall feature would be great for my son, diagnosed with epilepsy...has tonic clinic seizures
Did you test the auto connect alarm with a family or friends contact number?
Can you set it to notify your emergency contacts but not 911?

Ok why does the series 5 Apple Watch not have this?

Yeah, that is alarming, you would think that the sensor would have been triggered
Will you make a review of galaxy watch?
If my supplier can get it in stock, yes
Nice work Techy Agent. Another video that shows it doesn't go off unless it is a simulations very close to an actual fall which great. BTW, what weather app are you using for your complication in the middle?
I’m just using the native Apple weather app
@@TechyAgent I think the weather app complication looks great too. I've looked EVERYWHERE to try to get the hourly display like yours (or even 5 day display would be useful too). Any tips on how to the complication to display hourly like in your video?
I love this feature since I have fainting spells so it would be great to notify my family.
If the watch alerts someone that I've fallen, how will the someone know my location (given that I can't respond myself)?
Police and emergency responders are able to track cell phone locations, and it works by using your phones connection.
hmm okay, i was thinking that the on-board gps on the watch will help with determining location
Help! I've fallen in love and I can't get it up!
Is this the LTE version or the regular one?
Regular version
It doesn’t work for me. I am deadly fall on road 😔😔😔 my one is 4 the new one

Would it work if you was in a fight
Fall
test the heart rate senser
I bike alone usually so this feature makes me feel safe
Is it 40mm or 44mm ?
Nice Video Eric! I’m a new subscriber. I will be looking forward to your review on this watch!
Welcome to the channel and thanks for subscribing! Yes, I’m going to have a lot of fun reviewing this watch!
I’ve been falling for the past hour.
Are you ok? How did that happen?
Very good video. Thank you , Sir.
You are not allowed to move your arm and wrist or it wont trigger
That's not falling. That's what a 4 year old does when he throws a tantrum.
There are a lot of people who have conditions that will find this useful, not just older adults.
You can only do it in series 4 not 3 😢

Yes, this is true! It has the ability to detect the movement of a real fall.
I dropped my new watch while taking it off the first time, thank God it was on carpet. It set off the fall feature.
Your first couple of falls were controlled, it’s clear on the video and it’s weird how the watch was able to detect them as nil alerts.
Yeah, it is pretty impressive how it can differentiate between a real fall and other movements.

Techy Agent yeah. Kind of scary but funny.

Cool, I’ll check it out.
*I have fallen*
*AND I CAN'T GET UP*
Oh yeah! I remember those commercials, haha!
lol
That'd be great for my epilepsy! I hope a Android watch gets something similar.
For sure, that’s another potential case I didn’t think of!
Make sure you go into Apple Health and remove the false falls. LOL

Apple Watch just knows ur faking haha
put the music down its too loud
I think it’s too difficult to trigger
It's meant to be that way. It's for falls, not for any movement of the arm. Also, it's for falls with potential harm for the user
if it is a hard fall on solid ground I think it would easily trigger.
A 10 second video in 3:42 videos
Thanks for the video! It was awesome I fell ALL like ALL the time I will buy me one of those xD xD jajaja
Goodbye!

Only after second failure all subsequent "attempts" will be for free ! :))))
😀👍
If you’re under 65 the fall feature is turned off by default
My mom got the Apple Watch for her Epilepsy.
This can be done by app on appstore or google play store .. dont need AW4 for this.
Son: Look Ma, I'm going on a bungee jump
Watch: Fall Feature Activated
Mom: OMG
Wonder how it will fair during any X Games event :)
Haha! At least the feature can be disabled!
You don't need a Watch to detect Fall.
Everyone knows it starts on 23 September.
