    Great tip for removing the caliper piston, I recently had to rebuild the seized rear caliper on my Fazer and I wish I'd thought of the nut and bolt trick, well done. I really enjoy your UA-cam channel.

    I’m a young one in this XS game at 26, dads first bike was an XS650 which he still has. It peaked my interest in them at the age of 14 when I helped him strip it down all those years ago. I picked up my own back in July that’s was flooded with problems and your videos helped me work out numerous flaws. The bike is now running like a top and I just like to watch you work on them to gain more knowledge for mods in the future. Huge thanks! This channel will have many more subscribers someday, too much info and too high quality not to succeed! Keep it up miyagi!

    Thank you so much for all your 650 videos, they've been saving my butt through my adventures in my own first time build.

    Very informative as usual! On my Ural I installed a,”speed bleeder”. Which is basically a bleeder valve that has a bb in it so you don’t have to open and close and open the valve when bleeding. Works just fine.

    I was just about to go perform this operation on a XS I picked up this summer and look what pops up in my UA-cam feed. Probably going to watch again as I do it. Just cleaned carbs on it and it purrs using same tactic. Found the pilots were clogged from the 1983 gas it’s an 82 with 83 plates on it😂. The brake fluid is going to be all kinds of nasty.

    Awesome video, thanks for the breakdown. Is there anything you do to the rotor? I've seen suggestions on the forums to use scotch bright on them or even sand paper. Do you also usually go through that "bedding" process? I just replaced my front pads with Vesrah brake pads and also serviced the caliper with a new piston (cleaned the thing out, whole 9 yards). The brakes don't seem super great, so just trying to figure out where I'm going wrong. Appreciate your time, cheers...

      Patrick,
      I use scotch Brite on the rotor. As for brakes not working it's best it could be air in the brake line, the front brakes can be a bugger to bleed. Hopefully that helps, thanks for watching. Cheers!

      @@outlaw86custom Hey thanks, Outlaw -- that's good to know on the Scotch Brite. You're also probably right on that air being in the line, I'll give bleeding the brakes again a shot!

    I did a full rebuild on my front brake, I got it all assembled and now I'm starting to bleed the system and it's taking forever to get the fluid through the lines, is there a better way than pumping the lever?

    • @outlaw86custom
      @outlaw86custom  7 місяців тому

      You use a vacuum hand pump brake bleeder. I believe harbor freight has a decent that works. Just remember front brakes are a ditch to bleed off and sometimes just let them sit it'll self bleed the bubbles out. Rear isn't really easy by pumping. Hope that helps and thanks for watching

    I remember you mentioned the size of the O ring under the front master cylinder but cant find where that information was. Do you remember?

    What I want to know is, did you make those saddlebag brackets or can they be bought somewhere?

      I bought a set of KLR tusk brackets and modified them

    More times than not that master cylinder is shot and your better to put one of another model on it. A working rear master cylinder on a SR500 Yamaha is so rare they don't even produce a rebuild it for it. I've seen people asking 400 dollars for one.

      @@outlaw86custom Hey do you know from prior experience if getting off on the cam timing by only 1 tooth (advanced or retarded) will cause valve to piston interference? 1972 engine with a stock cam and pistons. I was messing with the cam chain tensioner tonight and think I could have slipped a tooth on the cam. The ignition timing marks still look ok (the breaker points are opening when they should according to timing marks on stator cover and rotor. There is no way of seeing the timing marks on the camshaft sprocket without taking the cam cover off the engine which mean pulling the engine in my case....do you follow me Miyagi?
