I’ve just discovered your channel, thank you so much for this! You are so eloquent and focused on *teaching* chess rather than just demonstrating your skill at it (as many chess streamers do, I find)!! thank you so much. I’m rated 1100 rapid at the moment, a long way off of your skill of course but I hope one day to get there :)
I am terrible at rapid. I like to play too fast. I am way better at bullet and blitz. Any tips for how to play like you do, analyzing everything and not immediately playing the first move I see? Also, what is your opinion on the Stonewall Attack opening for white?
I'd say that when you see a move you want to play, stop and calculate and try to find a line in which it doesn't work. If you can't find a bad line then play it but you need to try and prove its wrong rather than find a line where it works and just play it if you understand what I mean? Stonewall attack is fine, very uncommon which I rate (I like playing uncommon openings) but what sort of rating are you?
A lot of it is just forcing yourself to slow down and trying to prove your moves are wrong. The stonewall is decent at that level if you understand the ideas well, personally I always recommend 1.e4 but there is a lot of theory admittedly
@@ChessCenturion I love going queens pawn since most people find it annoying. Another thing I dislike about rapid is when I lose, I know I just lost the game and 20 minutes of my time. For blitz and bullet I still rage badly when I lose, but at least I only spent a couple minutes and can earn the rating back easily.
Great video, really informative. Small thing but maybe you shouldn't always assume your opponent is a man. Plenty of really good female chess players out there and you don't know with ambiguous usernames.
Cheers, I mean fair enough. Didn't really mean it like that I just tend to associate chess with men because I don't think I've ever played a female OTB and of course there's not many that play chess overall. I know you're not trying to accuse me of anything untoward but it's just how I naturally address a faceless opponent I guess. Thanks for watching though and I hope you enjoyed nonetheless :)
@@ChessCenturion Yeah no worries at all, definitely a male dominanted game so I also tend to assume it's a guy, but I'm sure we've all had our arse handed to us by some girls behind anon accounts before ha
Having cofee while watching your videos, learning and enjoying at the same time.. What a delight! Cheers mate! Keep them coming! ❤
