Yeah, he plays uncompromising chess and plays for a win and that makes for exciting chess. He tried to take opponent to a territory where the opponent no longer has "book" moves and has to think and burn time. No boring draws from him. Want Arjun to become world number 1 and world champion! I also like his composed attitude, no arrogance. Just pure chess and wonderful personality.

No he wont. 3 more games left..Each win can fetch him around 3 points. He can get up to 2820 max. Realistically he will do well to stay at 2809, because each draw costs him 2 points, and a single loss will cost him all the gains made in the tournament.

For I could claim that after Rc2 Bb3 restores the tactical status quo, white threatening the rook, while black threatens the knight. I understand that the whole point was not to take the knight with the pawn, for black. But if the rook was to escape threat, the knight really has nowhere to go. So the alternative my esteemed solviness tried was the simple Ra1. The reply could be Nb3, threatening the rook anew. Then rook could move to b1, after which the other knight , would escape its quandary by moving where the first knight was, namely d2, supporting the first knight and rethreatening the rook. Then the rook would move to b2, pinning the second knight anew. All in all whites forces have been drawn away from the white king. The game could go on from there. Possibly, the principle you were so enamored with in this case, was to maneuver the rook away from threat while still preserving the pin on the knight, hence Rc2.
