Having owned a few Vespa GTS 300's I would say that contra to what is said a number of times is that they aren't small scooters. The GTS125 share the same body. That is unless the reference is to the engine size here. Granted, its not the size of a Suzuki Bergman but it is much larger than the rest of the Vespa range and may others out there. The pay off of that is that you have more comfort, it feels solid and capable the ridding. I have a 2018 Touring at the moment, it had 600 miles on the clock when I got it a year and a half ago. I have toured with it, very capable. It will cruise all day two up at 70mph and does achieve a top speed of just over 80mph before the engine limiter cuts in. I get over 80mpg and my open face helmet sits nicely under the seat. I don't like full face, too claustrophobic. The ASR can be switched off but ridding across Dartmoor for work like I do it is a handy thing to ask, so is the ABS. I find a small screen useful against flies, its what they are designed for. We are all different and we have different needs but I have hired all manner of scooters overseas in Europe and India. I have even ridden in monsoon season and I can say that the GTS is the finest scooter of any I have ever used regardless of a few niggles. In the 1990's I had big bikes and I would say my GTS is much more fun after you get tired of ridding like a lunatic. A good review, cheers.
Excellent review, thank you. Bought the identical model three weeks ago and loving every minute. Remember, with a Vespa you are embracing a culture and style. Yes, there may be other options, but like everything we desire in life, if you go with your passion, you achieve your dream.
Thank you for giving me a good idea of how the scooter handles road conditions instead of the run of the mill considerations on its maneuverability around towns and cities. I intend to buy one for touring, and that’s the one I will pick, maybe a different colour, less attractive to bugs in summer!
Where did you get the 12.2hp figure from? The Primavera / Sprint have the 3v air cooled engine with 11hp. The GTS 125 I thought had the water cooled 4 valve engine and around 14-15hp?? Vespa themselves quote the Euro 5 2023 Vespa GTS 125 at 14hp, and I thought the previous model was the same Euro 5 engine?
Enjoyed your infomative video. Just what I was looking for. As finding its time to downsize my Harley Softail Streetbob. On this very day I've traded it in for a new Vespa 300 SUPER SPORT. The Harley's gone 😥 the Vespa will be delivered in a few days. 👍
My last big bike was a Suzuki 850GS. I have had two Vespa GTS 300 since then and I love them, even went touring on my 2018 model, well it is in touring spec. Its more than man enough for major roads and A roads where I do most of my ridding out of town and its, Fun and very user friendly, enjoy.
I like it in yellow. After having a yellow bike, the flys love it in the summer! 😬 Traction control on the 300 is a bit overkill. On this it would be better without it, and a MPH speedo. I can't get a full face helmet in my new typhoon as well. Bit more thought needed. From Piaggio. The small bike tests are great. 👍
I'm considering getting myself a 125cc scooter and I really like the yellow vespa gts super in this vid and also the primavera in orange looks great too. The prices of them put me off a little bit though so I've been considering the Lambretta V125 special as a cheaper option. Is the Lambretta worth buying or would I be better off just spending the extra cash on one of the vespas?
I have not been able to do a test on the V-125 so I can't give you a direct comparison. it all falls down to personal preference. The V125 is basically a Sym Fiddle III with a few tweaks. The V125 will be air-cooled and likely slightly slower than the GTS. But will still likely be a great scooter. I would always recommend seeing the scooters in person where possible and seeing what you like most, which gives you a chance to sit on them and have a good look around.
I'm looking at getting my first scooter (well once I pass my CBT!) and do like the look of Vespas, and enjoyed the video. The only thing that puts me off is the speedo being in km/h with mph a lot smaller. Is this noticeable or do you not notice after a bit? Also it's fairly hilly where I am so would it have enough ooomph to get up a hilly NSL dual carriageway where I'd feel nervous if i was sitting at 40mph?
I have run a Vespa GTS 300 since 2014. I can't comment on the 125 performance although I have heard its better than many at that size but I can say the speedo is no problem. You soon get used to it.
The speedo isn't too bad on this one and you'll soon get used to it. As for power it is a decent powered machine.. There are some faster scooter out there (closer to 15bhp). but at over 12 bhp the Vespa is great and gets over 60 absolutely fine. I was surprised with how well it stuck with traffic on 60 roads.
I am seriously looking around for a scooter right now, Now one of the things i noticed when i googled this bike was apparently it has a problem with breakdowns, suggesting more than other brands, have you any comments,I have been looking at the honda PCX,as well and of course, it's so much cheaper, many thanks for your video.
Best look at owner reviews for long-term reliability. They are quite different styles of bikes. The GTS is a great looking premium scooter. We have a new 125cc scooter videos coming out very soon which might interest you.
We received our brand new Vespa (Primavera 125cc) 8 October we did ride it for 5 days and got an electronic problem! Now already a month later still no Vespa waiting for a replacement part from Italy. OK, no actions from Vespa. I start to get angry and will tell it worldwide! Piaggio Italy does not have electronic spare pieces in case of.... with a lot of luck repair will be in December but it can take month as well because the parts hase to come from Asia 🥵🥶
It’s strange how nobody mentions that the main speedo numbers are kph with mph in tiny, easy to miss red font. Surely it can’t be that hard to make a UK/USA speedo card!?
Nice scooter.... Can I ask can you turn off the ridiculous stop start system? I had it on a car and hated it ahh edit yes you showed to stop start on off button later in the post..... Super stuff! 👍
We hope you enjoyed our review! Let us know what you would like to be reviewed next!
How about a review of the Red Fox falcon 200 2021 model
you talk too much, i would have liked to hear the vespa how was going...
Good review mate but can’t understand why mine does 70 and not 65mph.

The 125 will barely do 70mph.

What is your mpg( miles per Gallon)?
Loved that you reviewed as you rode. Many reviewers just stand there by a vespa, making yoy die of envy. Felt like a was riding it. Well done!
By fitting a mid sized screen you would probably get a genuine 65mph.
A screen is by far the best performance upgrade for the gts range.

Impressive a 125 hitting 65 mph 🏁
You've done a great job. Now I REALLY want one!
Thanks for the comment! Do it!

Love if you did a test on the vespa primavera 125cc as I think that's the entry bike for vespa at 125cc. Great test and review. Thanks Greg
Whats are the differences between the GTS 125 and the Sprint 125
I just bought one today.
Thanks so much, super helpful!

You do get used to the speedo. I have the typhoon, which is the same. After a while you know the 50kmh, is 30 and can tell at a glance.

No idea sorry! We are a UK channel. Best speaking to your local Vespa-Piaggio dealer.
The Vespa gts 150 is for the us market
Shame they couldn't be arsed to fit an MPH speedometer, especially at that price
It can't be hard as the fit MPH speedo in the USA.
Did he say 117 mi/gal???
Uk Gallon = 4.54 litres. Different to US Gallons.
What is the precise maximum speed reached?
