- In today's video, we review the 4 Seiko Turtles released by Seiko USA. Two models were released earlier in the year, and two more were just released in late 2016. Check out the new Pepsi version, as well as the all blue model.

I have the blue Turtle and really like it. Wears a lot smaller than expected which is a plus since I have a 7" wrist.
I have a SRP773 blue dial version and can corroborate Marc's words -- this is a really impressive watch and a welcomed upgrade to the SKX line. I have both the bracelet and the new OEM rubber strap and confirm that both of these are worlds better than the SKX offerings. I have to say that these watches are an absolute delight and this comes from a guy who owns a Monster, and SSC Solar Diver, an SKX, a Sumo, and a Tuna. I was surprised at how high the quality was except for that one traditional and infuriating Seiko bug-a-boo: alignment. On my watch the six o'clock index is offset by about 1mm to the right. Everything else is just fine, including the chapter ring and bezel markings. It doesn't bother me too much but once you see it, you always know it's there. Oh well -- it's not too bad to make me return the watch and I hope that Seiko will someday get its QC act together in this area.

These are great watches, & only God is perfect!
The 4R36 calibre is bulletproof, great movement accurate, strong and reliable. Worn a Seiko with this movement for several years no problems. The fact that the same movement is in these watches too puts the Turtle Pepsi on my Most Wanted List.
The watches are fantastic ! totally great value and the seiko rubber strap has been hugely improved. Excellent value.

These are fantastic watches. I've got PADI and 777. Love them both (almost as much as my Sub). They do wear much smaller than they look and are very comfortable, especially on the OEM rubber. Thanks for the great video, Mark!

i wish they'd made the bezel bigger to match the case. The 007's are so good but just a bit small. (IMO).

I'm glad I'm not the only one with small wrists. I swear, I'm 6'1" and 170lbs, I have fairly large hands, I work out so I have a decent amount of muscle mass, and yet with every watch I own, I wear it on the first hole.
Mine are also about 6 and 1/4, give or take a little bit given how difficult it is to measure your own wrist without a flexible tape measure.

Marc, this video is very helpful showing the SRP773-779 line. A question though, do the bracelets on the SRP773 and SRP775 have the diver's extension like the SRPA21?

Can’t decide on a skx or turtle. Also how many places are Seiko watches made? Sales lady was pushing the fact that the ones that are made for USA are of better quality
I'm looking at getting one of these but there seem to be a lot of poor reviews on Amazon, people saying the watch has really poor time keeping (losing 15 minutes per day), poor quality control in terms of bezels not lining up, dodgy crowns and so on. Does anyone own one of these and know if these are common issues or just rare occurrences? Thanks.

Normal. You're at the lower end of the spec, but its in spec.

Seiko just raised the RRP in April from 475 to 495.
I wish they have the rubber strap version of the gold color.

Although the turtle Pepsi is nice looking successor to SKX009, with hackable and hand winding movement, I couldn't resist getting an SKX009K1; the size bigger than an Orient Mako Pepsi, but smaller than turtle...my wrists are not that large. And, I guess there is a bit of hype or fondness for the 009 that rubbed off on me.
What's the difference between the ones that they have the k or j at the end of the serial number?
J is Made in Japan while K is Malaysia.
The second hand on mine stopped running for some reason, the watch still keeps time, i have not dropped it and only wear it occasionally, any help to fix this?

Long Island Watch I have been debating this or the Solar Batman. Then there is the blue Sumo. I think I will end up buying the blue Sumo (and selling my Squale diver).
My suggestion. Kindly compare swiss and Japanese watches

Just look for the ones with the J prefix on the model number. Then ones with the K are Malaysian.
Why can the iconic skx007 be had for around $200 but a prospex is twice that? I'm just not seeing the difference that justifies this relative markup. Can you explain?
I think its more than just the name. There is economics at play too. The SKX007 is supplied in droves, while the turtles are not.
Is there an advantage that they are not from Japan (missing the J or K, K is for what?) or what's the difference, other than place of manufacturing?
When they do not have the J or the K, that just means they are meant for the "Seiko USA" market. No difference from a "K" model otherwise.

J is for Japanese market and built in Japan. K is the Malaysian built version.
My experience is the J watches have better QC, bezel is perfect at 1200, crown is smoother, hands hit the indices perfectly.
Your mileage may vary.

They wear much smaller. Looks better IRL too. I was surprised with the quality I have a blue one with metal bracelet.
I absolute agree. I have small wrists and I don't like oversized watches, but this one isn't a problem at all! I also own a Seiko SNH55, which is 41mm and it wears basically the same. It is a bit heavier but personally I find the Turtle more comfortable to wear. Honestly, I did't like it at first when I saw pictures of it, but that all changed when I actually tried it.... I'm loving it! It's my favorite Seiko at the moment. I bought the Seiko SRP21J1, the PADI, special edition. I also really liked the "Batman" version (SRP787), funny enough both versions are not in this video...;)

Seiko does offer the smaller SKX series dive watches.
Correct, but it actually doesn't wear that much smaller than the Turtle. I also think that the Turtle sits nicer on the wrist due to it's case shape. Also the Turtle has more "presence" imo. (Like I said before; I'm loving it! so I'm a little bit biased...) SKX is great!, but I did sell it after I got my Turtle. Can't have them all ;(

I* only like the PADI version, the padi version has a sunburse blue dial which looks great. Seiko do a really bad job with their dials - they need to move away from the matt dark grey dials that look basic.
OnlineBackupServices should remember that these watches are tool watches... their matte color makes the markers extremely crisp and bright at first glance. there's a reason Seiko does what they do... but I agree that they should do a "fancier" version that has a sunburst dial and some extra bling for lack of a better word.
