As a resident of Chicago area, I'm proud of the Bears providing so much joy to other cities in the league. They've been doing that charity work for years.
well, next year they'll be better; new head coach, turn over that entire coaching staff, give Caleb Williams some continuity... he'll be great. I can see in 5 years, after 5 complete coaching roster changes the Bears will wonder why C-Will never panned out, and trade him for a linebacker and a 6th rounder.
We Lions fans feel your pain! I'll never forget the Bears "Superbowl Shuffle Song", that was awesome! It's our beloved Lions time for a Superbowl, I need to see it happen in my time before I have no more time ❤
I assume they have a variation of this and they did this test case in a non-important moment because they want some future opponent to scheme for when they see it so they fake'em even harder when it matters.
Exactly. The lions are a classless organization. They ran trick plays against Dallas up by 24 when the Dallas defense didn’t have any healthy players. How many Super Bowls has Detroit even been to? ZERO. the Bears haven’t won a game in 8 weeks. Big deal
I like your explanation, but it would be nice to see the entire play all the way through without pausing it, gonna have to go to another channel to see the whole play without interruption.
They dont do trick plays just to beat the team they are playing. They do them for several reasons. To test things in live game action. To setup future teams who play them. And to put film out there so opponents hesitate or bite on future plays.
Not only was the play in itself genius - that half second of hesitation leaving the LBs flat footed with Laporta running down the field - but it's also genius for how it sets the lions up in the future. Guaranteed that opponents are going to be watching the tape, coaches telling players to beware and not fall for trick play. Now, gametime, that puts that doubt in the defensive players mind "Did he really trip or is that another trick?". Either way, that doubt buys the Lions a fraction of time, which can be critical at NFL game speeds. Bravo.
Terrible edit. Show the play in its entirety. Whether at the beginning or the end. Preferably both. Believe it or not, we'd rather watch the play actually happen over you explaining it.
@absolutetuber yes. Uninterrupted. He almost did at the end, but didn't even show the snap and stumble which was the only unique part about the play as a whole.
I don't think so. As a Lions fan, he benefits from the play calls. He's not extending plays like crazy, he's not really forcing wins by himself. We could have almost any other QB in this offense and he just as dominant or better (obviously with some exceptions). We are a great team because of coaching. We are a great offense because of coaching. Not because of Jared Goff.
I my opinion there should be MVP for both NFC and AFC and he should finish 2nd Saquon should win NFC MVP Henry should win AFC MVP Saquon NFC OPOY Lamar AFC OPOY
@animegopher lol no you don't appreciate what you got. He has one if the best releases. Sees the field well. You don't need all that holding the ball running around if you are accurate and make the right reads.
@mrhumble2937 He does not have one of the best releases. That ball is as wobbly as a duck. That deep ball in the first quarter to amon ra was WAYYY short and could've led to an early TD. It's fine, because our OC and HC are so great that we scored anyway. But that happens often. His deep ball is awful. He loves throwing it in the dirt to open players whenever the pass is over 20 or so yards. Thankfully he led Laporta properly because of doesn't happen often. That being said, Laporta wasn't even covered and was basically jogging to the end zone, so... Yeah, not that impressive of a pass. And it was set up due to the fake fumble play... And who called that? Hmmm... Must've been either the OC or the HC, no?
The handoff where Goff actually slipped the previous week went so smooth I was left wondering if they practice goofy stuff like that. I think we all know the answer to that now.
This is almost as good as the fake spike by Dan Marino in 1994. The score was Jets-24, Dolphins-21. With around 40 seconds and 1 timeout left in the game, Marino completes a pass to the 8 yard line. With the clock still running, Marino began signaling to the players he was going to spike the ball to stop the clock. With 24 seconds left, Marino took the snap and instead of spiking the ball, threw a touchdown pass to Ingram to win the game.
Wanna see your breakdown of Bryce’s game today. He had a handful of elite moments. That second td to Moore and the play before it are stuff literally only a handful of other qbs are capable of. Purdy under similar pressure later in the day threw a garbage int. While Bryce just ate the hit while throwing a literal perfect dime. Bryce is cold blooded
What you don't hear is even the entire O-line selling this with them all yelling "Fumble! Fumble!" The best part about this is now defenses have to wait to see if the next fumble like this is legit or now. Johnson is an absolute a-hole and I love it.
On a bears podcast a guy was being interviewed who was at the game. He said Detroit sideline was pointing and yelling fumble fumble fumble so if that's true and Johnson has the sidelines written into the play that's next level
@appkeytechology have you ever seen players on the bench incorporated into a play? You'll see trick plays where players on the field pretend to interact with sideline. Like a QB acting confused, pointing at helmet take a few steps towards sidelines and then you get direct snap to running back. Remember you'd have to have a code word to get sideline ready so you have a lot of moving parts
DT was the most important position in the Eberflus defense. Losing Billings leaves a massive hole in the scheme; that is why they look so bad without him. Poles passed on Carter.... this D would have flourished with a guy like that in the key position.
When I first watched this replay during the game, this was exactly what I thought, that it was intentional. It almost seems too obvious when watching it back.
Wasn't it last year when he pulled that stunt out of bounds and acted like he got shoved and the refs threw the flag against the Bears?!?! The Bears are his stooges.
I like to call this a “I meant to do that”play because if the stumble was intentional it fooled no one but the play still resulted in a score. The goal of the stumble in that situation was to fool the spy which was #6 on the bears into leaving his zone. He clearly did not. The score happened because Goff saw before the snap that there would be no safety help over top and he made that decision before the snap happened where the ball was going to so the theatrics did nothing. That’s called taking advantage of a team with an interim defensive play caller.
Dumb. The theatrics made a few people hesitate in their assignments. And its likely a test run for future plays. It also puts film out there that will force other teams they play to pay attention to it and if there is ever a REAL biffed handoff, they might hesitate even for a split second which gives them the advantage.
@ it was a zone coverage with only one pass rusher. No one bit on it since only one persons assignment was to monitor the QB. Secondary guards the zone so Goff could have did the worm back there and it wouldn’t have mattered. The issue was the defensive play call. If you watch the Bears defense this isn’t some magic trick. Eric Washington is absolutely clueless on situational defense. No safety help on a short yards zone equals a wide open touchdown every time. We can pretend the trick did something but if you watch the whole game this was their pass defenses problem and has been since the interim staff took over.
You obviously dont know football at all. The Lions went 30 years without making it TO the post season but 1 time. How can you be known for “always choking” in the post season if you are just now a good enough team to be there regularly? I hardly think going to the NFCCG is considered “choking”. I would love to discuss YOUR team’s post season history.
I saw this live yesterday, Go Lions!, and I bought the whole fake. It didn’t dawn on me until after the game when it was pointed out. It was such a flawless fake that even the Bears bought it.
