Why i don't like skillshare, they put a course on there that was just the same videos for two seasons and in the videos they'd say i cant teach this/that so look it up on youtube. I also don't like that colleges are having youtube/media classes like you can make money on social media just by having a college class in it.
Slight tangent: My mom is retired case worker and has a lot of knowledge on the system. She’s involved in FB groups where people are looking for help with housing cases. She’ll comment free, factual, step-by-step advice on posts asking for help…. Then she’ll see the same posters commenting on posts for paid services “are there still spaces available in your course??”. She literally has given them all the information they need for free, yet they want to pay to be told the same thing. And these people aren’t paying for a one-on-one consultant, they’re paying for a generic one size fits all class. People seem to have a desire to pay for these kinds of “self help courses”. Yet, people seem so averse to paying for educational *content*, and paying content creators in general. Why?? I can’t quite figure it out.
@@trppstar which they do, but you cant pay enough money to actually get the secret formula that is a gold mine. Thats how these people make money and if everyone would know it, it wouldnt work
I think there’s also the issue of how anything legitimately “free” tends to be the same as a “trial” these days - so whatever information that is provided for free, they think there’s is MORE of it just behind a paywall. I don’t think they realize that what your mom is telling them is everything they need to know
As an ex-Catholic, who is unfortunately familiar with this "business models", thank you SO MUCH for speaking about this!!!! I won't get tired of saying your content it's so valuable and needed!
Robert, i dont think this is just about the Protestant Work Ethic. This ties into Christian Dominionism, where certain types of mostly evangelical and charismatic Christians believe that Christians have a God-given mission to take every aspect of culture back for Christ by rising to the top of cultural and political institutions. These types of people were VERY influential in the Trump White House. Many of these folks will shed a more openly Christian aesthetic for one that tries to covertly push their agenda as they work their way up to the top, where they can then push their flavor of Christianity more intensely, which is what it looks like Sean is doing. These folks are also pretty big fans of comparing their endeavors to a "city on a hill".
I was about to join one of their courses of Think Media, until I realized I couldn't afford to pay it and instead I looked for alternatives, besides the free stuff here. It helped me more for my channel, for example. However, this channel was always Christian when I joined one of the live streams mentioning that part and I thought it was independent from the church.
I had no idea that he was religious! I randomly found out about him through a job posting on Indeed for Think Media. I applied for an editing position and the things I thought were weird were, it said you can't apply if you want to become a youtuber. They also wanted me to take 1 hour long quiz, and since the job market is so hard, I am not doing that for a company that probably wouldn't hire me anyways so a 1 hour quiz is a waste of time. But yeah, I thought that was fishy. But thought I'd check out their channel since it could have some nice tips.
To be fair, Think Media gives away TONS of information for free. Like countless hours of video can be found on their channel. I literally learned everything about UA-cam, cameras, editing, etc. from watching their free content 🤷🏿♀️
This isn't even close to what protestantism is or means. First of all the Calvinists are wrong but they said what they said cause God is omnipresent and knows all including the future and your future and that's why they said going to heaven is predestined but it forgets that God gave us free will to be saved. And Second, the whole point of protestantism is that the Bible should be where you get information and not from a pope or other teacher and the Bible says that you should work to make money but you should also enjoy what you have, your family, dinners, a cool new thing and you should give your money to other when you can.
Charging that much money for information that users could get elsewhere for free is absolutely insane omg 💀

They think people are holding secret business knowledge from them

Its like having stand up free on youtube and people are like, you should have a Netflix special.

Every time I think Robert Tolppi can't possibly get more based I am proven wrong ❤

I’m so glad you make content like this. You are my favorite UA-camr! Much love ❤
You speak so eloquently! Great content!
