You might want to try cooking/ steaming them the Asian way ? We line the pot with lemon grass, crushed ginger, keffir lime leaves , scallions . Their juices would be salty , either add water or a little coconut milk , a small red chili. 😊
sounds delicious
Exploring the tidal pools in those areas are one of the most exciting and tantalizing and fascinating things for me, absolutely love it
I wouldn’t mind eating that every day, 3-4 times a day. Man!! That makes me so hungry!
You look like you're in the Cornish Safari with your handy dandy hat and leopard print glasses. We love it!!!!! ❤️😂
29:99 that clip will scar me from ever eating mussels again LOL
🤣🤣🤣🤣 true though!
Won and lost me subs that 😂
@@ForageFishFood My thought, and I'm even older than you.. get real people! lol Getting harder to be a "regular guy" these days with even males (what we used to think of as men) acting & talking like women. Plus you were being playful & even women, at least ones I know might give a little ewwww, but we all know it, so a quick laugh & move on. Live in Oregon & been ignoring thousands of these where I'd take the grandkids to play in the tide pools & thousands of urchins & starfish, and layers & layers of mussels, tons and figure it's time to finally taste test them. Good show! ;)
@@maxsoregonthank you Max, legend
I picked some this week (May 18th) from Harlyn Bay. Cleaned and purged in salt water. Cooked the same way but didn't eat any un-opened. Sweet, plump, delicious
That was fun , I live in New Mexico nothing like that here

I can only get mussels from the grocery store, frozen in butter and garlic, they are great but I bet fresh mussels are amazing
Move to he coast my love
Wow! Watching this makes me miss my hometown. That's a lot of food there! New subscriber here from Philippines.
It is lovely to see this video. I really appreciate it. I want to do this myself
Bountiful mussels wow that's awesome .
wow I loved it. mussels is very tasty, that's so big. if I found this much of mussels I gonna injoy so much to pick it up.
Thank you,I feel privileged believe me 😘
I wish we could do a great forage here. I live on the Mississippi gulf coast, on the Gulf of Mexico. We don’t have a lot of sea life because here the ocean mixes with the Mississippi River, so it’s harder for the marine life to survive.
I don't know why I'm here😂😂 but I'm so amazed what I'm see 🤣🤣 I miss my province😔
Absolutely fantastic 👏...well done mate!..that is taking a French dish and giving it an English touch to perfection...my hat off to you and your knowledge of foraging and the coast...I was a chef on the southwestern Coast of France for some years, and I assure everyone that they do scrape clean their mussels, it's a tiresome job reserved for English chefs who when told ' ze eengleesh cannot cook' reply with 'what about joan of arc then'...
cheers buddy
I was told that the original moules mariniere had only white wine and shallots in the base, served with fried croutons...keep doing what you're doing..cheers
When I saw a lot of mussels there no doubt to click your video and watch it from start to end...I love to watch this kind of video 😍😍😍

Woww
Very interesting adventure. How do you know what can be eaten and what are poisonous or with parasites ?
Very lucky that not a lot is poisonous in our waters, we have to watch for algae blooms in our summer months with molluscs. Only dangerous if eaten in large quantities
wow amaizing..I want life with you sir
Wish to be there. My dream place to live.
Spot on mussels but personally I soak winkles over night with a load of salt get the muck out and simmer them for 40 minutes
Hi
I'm holidaying in north Cornwall this summer & planning my first seashore forage. Someone's told me we shouldn't harvest shell fish between May & September. Is this right? Hope you can help because I've been really looking forward to it!
This is because we get algal blooms, mussels are bivalve filter feeders so…..and you can’t kill the algae by cooking. Also considered spawning periods over these months..
I don’t think once is gonna hurt you though, I’ve eaten them in the summer months
I dont even eat muscles but that looks tasty AF
Where is it in Cornwall
what the clam out there so many
I love this tpye of conten
🙏
you make me hungry.
Looking good. Great size mussels making me feel like having some ❤❤
nice free to take..
New subscriber here...i love 🐚
New video out tomorrow
Hi, i was wondering, do you eat the guts in the mussle as well or do we have to clean it first?
No need, it it all, delicious! 😘
Interesting video
Wow amazing I wish I can join you....one day...
That’s ace! It’s true though😉😘
Watch the parsley it can look a lot like Hemlock which you don't want to eat you will however only do it once.
saan po ito sissy sa bodega bay ? very nice video.
A lot of mussels I wish I m there
Yummy.. I miss eating shell. I love it
Why worry about barnacles on the outer shell please?
they will end up in the bottom of your delicious soup and make it gritty so best to get rid of them beforehand. or best just pick the ones with no barnacles
How can you tell that mussels are alive on those rocks? I saw some in Kent earlier today, but didn’t pick up any as I am new to this :)
They are alive if they are on the rocks and closed. If the water is clear around they are good to go
wow
Sea foods is the best
hey buddy nice place ..very relaxing ..but where is this exactly?
North Cornwall United kingdom
Perfect miniature vaginas!!! 😂😂😂😂 Was laughing out loud!!
True though innit😉😂
Awesome! Do you ever teach on Scilly?
I don’t teach, just my hobby. You should be able to do everything I’m doing on Scilly. I’ll get in touch if I pop over. Any excuse to go over there
In philippines we call it "Tahong ni carla"
I’ll try and remember that in the next mussel video, if you would like one. I have to practice some Philippino so many of you are interested 😘

North Cornwall, a little research on your behalf will tell you exactly where. Sorry but it’s kind of sacred to reveal exactly the spot to the whole world 😘. Thanks

You know you'll all thought it. He said it, not us hahahaaha.
You are so right😂😘😘😘
Do you need a permit to collect mussels?
Absolutely not thankfully, not to forage or fish off the British coastline. best of luck
