Ooooh yes, more of this! It's these little details that get glossed over in so many build videos, but a series like this can help enable so many of us that spend hours staring at that tree trying to make connections like yall.
Clicked on a video in my recommends so I had something to listen to, and now I'm realizing that a lot of these keystone videos may need an update thanks to the defense changes
damn man, I am learning so much! It's so helpful to me as a returning/new player, because you're not just belting out topic after topic on "what a beginner NEEDS to know!!?!?!?!" that just deluges the main point of the topic being currently presented. Instead, you have all of your information paced out neatly, and there is little to 0 jargon in them. If there are any, you make sure to explain clearly, of course assuming the listener has done the groundwork of reading and understanding the given 0n-game explanation. No 3rd party reading required for the video.
Great Video! I would love to see a video series on what you consider the best all around defensive setups for Melee / Ranged for each Class. I know that would be a lot of work but I think it would also make a great series.
thank you ill let my ego, run a little bit and think this video was made especifically for lmao, having the information summerised like makes realise how much resist i needed to get whille using a brass dome, am not using any fancy mechanics but its enoght to survive ubers so i cant imagine what a build dedicated to this especifically keystone can tank
Hahaha, well I would have done a highlight video on this keystone in the series anyway but your comment prompted me to visit this one first! Yeah the keystone can provide incredible basis for making a monster tank of a character
Very informative vid, even after many leagues of playing POE i still sometimes pause and say i didnt know it can be done that way. Very cool ,looking forward to the next one.
Yep sublime vision purity of fire is...oof. That's a beating and a half to your piggy bank. Mahuxotl OTOH, at only 5 div, when combined with a good Rakiata roll, seems like an absolute steal. The problem being that if you use Mahuxotl, you can't fully damage shift your phys to fire. It's why I saw Uberdan use fourth vow with Mahuxotl and tempered by war instead, but the problem is that then, you're kind of open to some big damage from physical hits, since fourth vow + mahuxotl give up your two biggest slots for damage shifting. You can still get some phys damage shift from your helmet, I suppose. Though juggernaut seems to be in the best position on the tree to take advantage of the two nutty armor/es masteries. In contrast, the Pathfinder is all the way on the other end of the tree, and tying up a flask slot for a granite flask means you give up some other flask slot (silver, quicksilver, progenesis, MF flasks, health flask...yeah Pathfinder wants like 10 of them, haha). But yeah Rakiata/Mahuxotl/Fourth vow can get pretty fantastic, especially if you can keep up everlasting sacrifice.
Yeah Juggernaut is great, and Chieftain is really good for the Temp/Mahu/FV combo too. Chieftain can get nearly 70% phys taken as fire/chaos relatively easily with that combo. But I definitely agree that Mahu combo is a steal in price comparison, even though you have to work out the kinks of the shield for your build, still a crazy defensive setup.
Please follow-up with a detailed video on Mahuxotl's Machinations, specifically on how to make it work in a coherent build. Whenever I try to go through all the parts, I end up going cross-eyed.
Really nice video! Was thinking about combo Tempered by War + Divine Flesh these days. Got myself Mahuxotl's shield, now thinking on how to use it in best way))) Tempered by War would be 100% go to here. Will wait for other videos on this topic, especially onto less used like Runebinder or Ghost Dance
Pair it with either Fourth Vow or Doppelganger's Guise chest, depending on how much armor you're getting. You can even get one with corrupted +1 max res or reduced fire/chaos damage taken. For keeping up Everlasting Sacrifice, consider using Demon Stitcher gloves. You can activate them however you like, but the most unobtrusive way is to have Vortex on left click. Eternal Youth from the shield will immediately kick in to restore your life, but with a high roll Demon Stitcher you'll still need to manage your life sustain if you try to trigger Everlasting Sacrifice constantly using Vortex. As you can't regen, and recoup is too slow, leech is your best bet.
Also for Divine Flesh, you'll want a Born of Chaos small cluster jewel or two to help raise your max chaos resistance closer to 90. Max fire resistance should be much easier to raise. You'll want Purity of Fire anyway for the Watcher's Eye mod, so that'll help a lot.
I'm thinking...maybe Divine Flesh isn't necessary to reach 100% cold and lightning convertion. Tempered by War grants 50% + Purity of Fire Sublime Vision grants 30% + Incandescent Heart grants 25% This frees up the offhand for other great options, and the most importent thing, having the posibility to go CI, since we are using Incandescent Heart, CI dosn't just make us Immune to chaos damage, it also porvides a flat 24% elemental damage reduction(becase damage convertion is over 100%), if we convert some physical damage to chaos, that part is also immune. Lets talk about fire damage. Using a armour stacking Jugg with four 15% magic flask effect charms 24% into chaos (immune becase of CI)→90% fire res→armour and Jugg unbreakable 50%→8% elemental damage redution(14% if you have vaal implicits on body armour)→Fortify 20%→Berserk 20%→Ruby Flask with 165% flask efect 53%→spell suppression 56%→-360 Fire Damage taken from Hits from The Formless Flame helmet and two Ring Synthesis Implicits = any fire damage lower than 83231 can't deal any damage. Top rolled critically stricking Atziri double flame blast with 9 Frenzy charge will only do 2315 damage in this set up. Physical damage can be dealt with good old Physical damage reduction and some phys as fire or chaos, 10 endurance charges + Jugg + Enduring Cry already grants 70%, armour can take the rest easylly btw going for Trickster without armour stacking instead stacking "Prevent +X% of Suppressed Spell Damage while on Full Energy Shield" to the moon is also a great idea. 50% basic spell suppression + 24% from four charms + 10% from Trickster + 6% from passive tree and suppression mastery + 2% from amulet (4% if you have a simplex amulet) = Prevent +94% of Suppressed Spell Damage while on Full Energy Shield.
Hi Dreamcore. Just wondering if you would know if there is any interaction between Font of Thunder unique, Tempered by war, and Taste of Hate flask. The wiki on this conversion mechanics are confusing to me.
All 'damage taken as' shifts occur at the same time so damage cannot be shifted more than once. Fe. you can't shift Cold damage to be taken as Fire damage with Tempered by War, and then shift that same damage to be taken as as Lightning damage with the Font of Thunder. There isn't really any notable interactions between those mechanics, just that you'll have a lot of split damage whenever you are taking different types of elemental damage
regarding the scorch mechanic. lets say i have a Flamesight Solaris Circlet equipped, but deal no fire damage. can i still scorch like the helmet implies?
You can only inflict scorch with fire damage by default and the helmet doesn't change that, it just allows you to inflict scorch, which you can't do by default
GGG and Chris WIlson in particular, should be sucking the community's balls for carrying their game to where it is now. Without the community Path of Dogshit would still be stuck in 2012, with no external resources (loot liters, PoB, trade sites, etc.) to make the game at least slightly usable. Just look at their pathetic in-game "tutorial" and ask yourself: "is this enough for players to understand the game and its mechanics?". I'll spare you the thought: the answer is a categorical NO. GG Dreamcore! Keep these videos coming!

Totally agreed!

Awesome series, really helps when looking at pob's or potentially taking builds in a different direction

Absolutely loving these defensive-centric videos! Keep up the great work!!
Great content and explanation to things and concepts that are interesting but not easy to find online well done.
Very cool. Looking forward to this series.
i love these kinds of series
Cool idea for a series!

This is very educational, thanks for that and looking forward to more
The Sentinel footage takes me back to happier times :)
I hope recombinators eventually make their way back into the game :)
Very informative vid, even after many leagues of playing POE i still sometimes pause and say i didnt know it can be done that way. Very cool ,looking forward to the next one.
Perfect amount of detail! Looking forward to more.
Love the content, one of the few creators I can watch any video, (even if I think i know everything on the topic) and still learn something
Appreciate that, glad it's helpful
Really nice video, waiting on the next one! Helpful :)

Also one of the best interaction of timeless jewel is with unnatural instinct especially with transcendence 🤫

I'll likely get around to a video dedicated on the shield at some point yes
i love mechanic explanatiom video. please upload more!. thanks
More to come!
Would like to know if there's any secret tech for Divine Shield. Keep up the good work!

Here in Affliction 3.23 i just sold PoF Sublime Vision for 385 divines :)
