M.A.S.K toys was such high quality. Beautiful compared to today's standards.
Oh, new tool! That's nice that you got digital calipers!
Wow, great result! I still remember that my best childhood friend used to have the Venom Leaders purple Plane. I loved to play with that when I visited him. Good times.
If the toy is in a sorry state.... don't worry...it's in the toy master's hands!!! Another save!!!
This makes me want to dig out all the mask toys I bought last year..... a great toy line but it could never sway me from transformers as a kid
This is a very expensive toy to get here in the States. Prices are around $350+ and up for a complete one, not including the box! It's absolutely so amazing how cleaning up a toy and adding new stickers can dramatically improve a toy like this, but your fix for the bumper, grill, and replacing that extra smoke stack just really came together to make this (no doubt) a gem for your MASK display!
I always think of the Thunderhawk and the Rhino as being the centerpieces of my collection, but if I had a Bulldog, I know it would be right there with both of those!
I thoroughly enjoy it when you do MASK toys! Like you, I'm late to the MASK game, but I've really learned to love this toy line. I think that it's a genius line of toys in much the way that the Transformer toys were, so I really am excited to see you working and repairing these toys!
There's something therapeutic about your restoration videos. It's nice seeing you put a bit of love into these toys and they turn out so good
Thank you very much!
I remember buying my Bulldog from John Menzies, superb vehicle. Perfectly restored Dave. 🍻
I love watching you fix these MASK toys. I wish Hasbro would reissue these, they bought Kenner a decade or two back and they've reissued other Kenner toys like the Kenner Star wars and Ghostbusters figures but so far they've been cagey about whether or not they'll do the same for MASK.
Impressive repair for Mask Bulldog. It reminds me of the semi truck from the Terminator 2 Judgment Day.
M.A.S.K. toys were so freaking cool. The cartoon may have been a fever dream of pure insanity, but the toys were absolutely on point.
Great repair and definitely one of my all-time favourite MASK vehicles. Loved how Boris' mask looked like a robotic bear. :)
This is my favorite Mask toy, I Paid $12 for it back in the day… When I restored mine, I ordered a 3d printed chainsaw. I’m still in need of a middle though.
Brilliant work sir! Now I have to have a quick listen to the theme tune, it's so beautifully 80s 😎
Those callipers are going to be useful for so many future projects.
Thanks Dave!!! I always enjoy your vids...definitely in my top 5 UA-cam content creators!!!
Wow, thanks!
Thanks for ignoring my prior grammatical error.. lol (grateful for the edit button). Cheers!
You’ll save it Dave, as you always do 😄
That's the plan!
Well nice. Your ability to make such awesome stickers is a great talent.
Increíble, yo todavía conservo mí colección, hasta la fortaleza secreta. Gran vídeo.
Plastic Weld does not like chromed plastic. Just remove a tiny bit of chrome vac-finish from the area you intend to cement. Most MASK toys are styrene and ABS, both of which Plastic Weld will work with.
Lovely job with the stickers - and it reminded me of something - my brother and I very rarely put stickers on toys. Unless it was an essential marking, we never applied them, especially if one was the name of the toy. When I was older, I'd paint detail areas on toys, but the stickers were usually just thrown away with the packaging. I cringe at the thought nowadays, but if it was a toy from a TV show, or movie, we wanted it to look like it was on screen.
Another great rescue! I’ve recently fixed a Mego Terraphant vehicle. This has only happened as you have given me some confidence to give it a go from watching your videos - cheers Dave 👍
It might as well be new with how amazing it turned out. Very impressive work, Dave!👊😎
Thank you! Cheers!
At first I thought this was another Jobby video about an Alternate Optimus Prime , , , ,Bulldog looks like a difficult restore , good luck 👍🤔😎👍
ahhh always a pleasure to watch you work
seeing the Bulldog reminds me of the Rihno
mostly an idea i had
take Primes trailer as a point of reference
and create trailers for the two semi's
work in progress
Hey Dave
Fun project to watch, the vehicle looks great and ready for play once again.
Happy Weekend to you and MrsTP.
Take care of Yourselves 😊
Compliment fantastic work!!😉
Wow that looks awesome congratulations on the job well done
Thanks 👍
Excellent fix! One of the best toy lines of the 80’s!
Amazing restoration again
Thank you! Cheers!
In case you're ever in the mood for a deep dive into new techniques, metal-plating plastic is actually less hassle than you think. Though airbrushing Alclad Chrome paints usually does a pretty decent job as well if you're only after the appearance.
I never saw these back then, this is cool toy. Nice fix!
Thanks 👍
Great veichle and goof job fixing it
This is one cool toy. Exactly the kind I would have loved as a kid. Thanks Dave.
Been patiently waiting for this one. Keep up the amazing work Dave. Much luv
Hope you enjoyed it!
Very nice, love when we bring them back :)
Amazing work once again!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video
Another banger Dave, what a restoration result that is!!! Looks transformed, and always bewitched watching you on photo shop.
Mark is a top guy too, helped me out with so many parts when it comes to my MASK collection 👍👊
Thank you! Cheers!
The good old days of toys where they use screws. Unlike nowadays, heavily relying on pins and many times they just glue the parts together. Hard to customize and repair.
Buen trabajo, especialmente con los stickers. Me hubiese gustado que no usaras la cinta de doble cara para reparar la grilla frontal.
Cool fix, though I was hoping to see you chrome that grill.
Awesome. Nice job.
Thanks!
I had no idea there were so many interesting vehicles I the Mask line. I am only familiar with the more common because my younger brother had them. And the decals really change the look of it.
It's a really interesting line. I'm having great fun with them.
Another great video!
Glad you like them!
BOOM!
What a great job Dave, I envy your skill with styrene ! The Bulldog looks as good as new 👏. Matthew jumped around with excitement at hearing you call out his name 😂.
That's great to hear! Glad you enjoyed it. The bulldog is now back on display.
Great job 👍 and I have Rino but it's missing the roof and I also have a bunch of the other vehicles in my collection, but I don't have Bulldog.
I really expected a bunch of parts flying out because of all the springs they use. It looks so good.
So did I based on prior experience with Switchblade.
Zajímavé vozidlo 🤔.
Pěkné video 👍.
Odběr přidán 😉.
🖖
Good Digital Calipers
I have a pair.
I got at Harbor Toys
DR.Toys has a pair like that
I'm still amused that someone said "all the guns and tank treads aren't enough... it needs a giant frickin' chainsaw in the front bumper!"
Another great repair job. Always good to see the old parts being repaired and made anew again.
With these M.A.S.K. toys, have you ever considered the possibility of custom making some of your own? I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one who would watch a series like that.
Thanks. I haven't thought of that. Cheers
Well done!!.. Amazing transformation! What's the best way to de-yellow windshield plastics?
Ever thought too if you needed a part. Can always get a complete then if needed one. Can Make mold castings for it too. I am just starting to make Casting now. For Parts I can replicate. I just got a tmnt Warrior metalhead Mikey. He is missing all of his accessories. But I got a complete metalhead. So I am casting those for my Warrior version In blue color.
Pretty much like new will display nicely now
I wonder if that was made during a transitional period for chromed plastic since early examples were that semi transparent off white underneath always. Modern chrome painting does that same thing of black material or painting on black first, metallic plastic sure is challenging to produce historically.
Another fine sticker file, just recently directed someone to your excellent work. 🙂
while watching the series of mask restorations I came up with a question that's sort of related to the restoration of toys with scratches, especially in clear plastic. If you have an otherwise operable plastic part that has some scratches, for instance like of clear canopy would you think that buffing that plastic would serve any useful purpose to hide those scratches for display purposes?
Do you have Boris' Mask "Comrade" ? A lot of times I find that the figures are easy to find but they don't usually have their masks.
I don't. I grabbed the figure on eBay for a reasonable price, with the Mask it was way more than I wanted to spend. I hope to fine it in time, but it's fine without it.
you could make a box so that about 2 trailers have weapons
What is the name of your chrome paint pen and where can it be found? The results for chrome looks amazing!
I've added them to the Tool Shop on toypolloi.com Cheers
I wish I knew where all my m.a.s.k. toys are and where can one find some m.a.s.k. toys to add once i can find them because i'm trying to make a model that looks like a m.a.s.k. vechile
The smoke stack opposite to the one you replaced, did it need a repair. I watched this video on my phone and it looked like the smoke stacks in some way interacted with the rear tank treads. Because the parts are black and I was watching on my phone, it looked like one was shorter than the other. I could be mistaken.
I don't think they do. You have to manually rotate them down, same as you have to rotate out the tracks. Only some features on these toys are 'automatic'.
I just got my Bulldog yesterday in the post. It is missing like everything. Even the screws . What size are they ?
They used pretty much the same screws on all the mask toys. Take one out of another vehicle and give it a try. It it fits, give it a measure.
I customize transformers, I use mostly paint pens for my customizing as I find them more versatile and easy to use than brushing or spray painting etc. The only downfall is that there are very few good options for Chrome and I think the pen you use is probably the best one I've seen so far, I've watched your video 5 times and still can't quite catch the name of the brand and when I went to your tools link you didn't have that listed as one of the things you could buy so if someone could just tell me the brand name or even better where I can purchase one, I'd be very much appreciative. Great video and thanks in advance.
Molotow Liquid chrome. They are really good, but do take a long time to dry. Cheers
@Toy Polloi thanks a bunch, keep up the good work.
I need a sticker set, how can I get some? Awesome work!
You can download the file from toypolloi.com and print it out yourself. Cheers
For the grill with the double sided tape, will glue work or is that not an option?
You could for sure. But this seemed a neater option and easy to change if needed in future.
@@toypolloi That's a good point. Thanks!
Do you have stickers for Boulder hill on your site? If so awesome.
Not yet. When I get to work on that set I will sort them out. cheers
@@toypolloi okay cool thanks for letting me know
I just got a load of MASK toys given to me. My truck is complete but I can't get it to stay as a truck. The cab just flips back down. Can you help?
Sounds like the locking mech is broken in someway. Take a look at that and see if you can spot anything.
For me Mask was a downgrade from previous lines, but this one looks pretty cool.
I never got into them at the time. But now I think they are great. Very clever designs and I really like the scale of them.
How do u rinse off the soapy water without submerging it in water?
I use a cloth and wipe off as much water as I can then let the rest air dry.
@@toypolloi thank u
Question- how often do you have to deal with ebay and scammers reselling your stickers as you make better ones than most remake stickers
I know there are people selling my work on there. Sadly there is nothing I can do to stop it. eBay are zero help and won't do anything about it. All I can say is I don't sell on eBay so never buy anything of mine on there. Cheers
What's the link to the 80s collector on Instagram? Can't find it. Thanks.
I have one that's smoke stack has snapped off, was hoping you'd show how to fix that.
Pin and glue it. I have showed this in many of my other toy repair videos so check some of those out. Cheers
@@toypolloi Yea I can do that, will probably have to take it apart to get the piece free of the main body of the truck, I wouldn't want to gum up the smoke stacks movement.
yoy went through al the effort yet dont even do a full 360 of the restoration
Did you ever study structural engineering before you learned how to save toys? 🔩
No I haven't. I just take a lot of toys apart 🤣
i will allway have resentment against my sis for throwing mine in the trash during a moving. It was in mint condition to. 🥲
