Thank you for this video. Building my first modified mower for yard work. So many ideas. Mud mower ideas, racing mower ideas, rat rod ideas. This wiring video has saved me from so much frustration. Thanks again!
i could have been sure i was already subbed. Either way I needed this video today. I have a tractor project with some shady wiring conntions and it almost fried some wires but i caught it quick enough. i thought i was crazy for a minute but found some taped up wires that were actually spliced together when they shouldnt be. Especially glad it was briggs related. I have that same carb on my 18.5 0r 16 hp vanguard/briggs and stratton vtwin. Almost overlooked the solinoid wire that broke off so i tried the cut it off mod and the carb leaks around the seal or lack there of. its to pitted. Ordered a new one with new solinoid. this one was coroded bad anyways. Thanks for the refresher.
I'm having a hard time here, so I rewired everything and it works but I'm trying to wire up my lights off the motor. What I took from this is... The orange wire goes to a switch then from the switch you run a wire to the positive of the light, then ground the light off at the chasis?
My mower has no backfire solenoid on the carburetor, but my wiring harness has the plug. In order to run lights would i need to jump that plug or connect the 2 wires? the previous owner switched the carburetor.
can anyone help me with this problem ( i have a craftsman 1994 22 hp kohler lawn and garden tractor GT6000 . every time i engaged pto as soon as blades start spinning it shuts the motor off can you help
seat safety switch or check for spark on both coils. test magneto from rectifier. not firing on 1 coil will reduce engine power which pto needs to run. could be bad coil or magnets fell off magneto under flywheel
Hey i have an issue with my mower. It is old enough, that it has the spark plug wire, the ground to shut it off and 2 that is for lights or charging. I can't figure out which one is to charge the battery and which is for acc or lights.
As pointed out in this video. Charge for lights will have a diode in line before the plug. if it has a rectifier for ac to DC it will have one wire coming out that goes to battery and lights are on a battery feed.
This really help me.. Now the wiring on a mower is now clear...best video on the subject that I have ever seen... Thanks

also unlikely for most, but flywheel key could be sheared if blades hit something or if bolt is not torqued down.
I connected the blue wire to battery side of selenide I now have power carburetor all the time even when engine shut down. Is this, ok?
