I did this conversion on my car at 190k on the clock but I did rebuild the motor , regardless if you go highly modified or not , superb car and epic fun to drive
Sorry to hear that , yeah it’s a great idea 👏🏻the only problem is the ECU , you might have to go aftermarket to make it work but if it’s AWD will be a beast and an awesome project
It won't fit. Volvo had to repackage the 5 cylinder engine in order to make it fit into the Ford Focus/S40/V50 chassis. In the S60R, the engine sits on the subframe. In the S40 the engine hangs between the chassis rails. Easier to just modify the S40 T5 engine
Iv gotten an s40 2004 plate with engine damage for free . Its automatic. Do you know if the manuel versions have same flywheel bold iv heard of some autos being different. Ascars i can get emgines from are Manuel transmission

You don't need to run all the gouges, all depends if you want to see what levels your car is running at or not , it's not a must and there are other ways to do it like with an OBD reader and a phone/iPad . If you running an aftermarket boost controller like GFB they display tells you what boost you are running. There are many ways to run a setup like this 😁
It's an S60R manifold but a normal 850 turbo manifold would work too 👍but note that your new turbo flange should be the same as stock turbo from that car or you will have to redo the flange holes

Hey man , I would start with a full service and engine flush , coolant flush , brake flush and just go through all services parts and I’m sure it will freshen up the car and while you at it do a compression test
Well the main weakness on these motors is between the sleeves of the block(they tend to Crack) , these need to be shimmed , with either brass or stainless plate , it's an easy upgrade but depending what your end goal is , if you chasing big power I would pin the sleeves to the sides of the block too , this will help keep the sleeves in form and will allow you to push more boost .
@luisdelpozo9674 unfortunately not but there are a couple photos of what it looks like , it's a simple job in its self obviously just means you have to take the cylinder head off , therefore will be costly on spares to replace gaskets ,seals , timing belt etc
Depends on the turbo ,manufacturers don't stick to one size flange , you can get then in t3 or t4 . That's why I always suggest get the manifold first and take it with to your turbo shop and see what will work for you
@@TraviG15 Do you have LAG with that k28 turbo? Can the engine hold all that power, only with the reinforcement plates between cylinders? How much power are you getting now with that last stage?
S60R manifold any of those s60 manifolds will work but just keep in mind you might have to alter the flange for the turbo depending on what turbo you use , gt28 turbo with a t3 flange and I had to alter it
Ooooh I would have no clue but generally in the same generations volvo tenders to stick to a similar chassis but it all honesty if you have enough time and patience you can make anything fit 👏🏻😂

Depends on where you are based in the world but E30 is fine for any of the c30 .if you have your original owner manual ,it will tell you in there specifically for your car
Hey man , I modified a universal one with mounting brackets , two 90 bends and a mounting plate for the Map sensor , I can give you specs on the intercooler if you like 😁 Tune is a custom map by Celtic
So every motor is different for the shims , you need to take a feeler gauge and find the thickness that will be a tight fit and then you just need to source the metal , stainless steel or brass will work . There is no part numbers etc for this , any metal company should have what you need

It more than definitely can , I know of autos that have had k16 turbo and pushing plenty power . Stage one isn’t a huge gain .. just make sure your gearbox services are up to date , they are very strong boxes

@@TraviG15 I had a feeling it was timing belt related. I was kind of trying to get a feeling of how much power the 2.5 T5 can hold. I know the rods are probably the first to go then cylinder walls. I'm planning on running about 330 torque on my C70 so I'm thinking that will put it around 290 300 hp
@@willriley1619 cylinder walls will be the first thing to go for sure , solution is shims but ultimately you want to shim and pin .they it will take most of what you throw at it
Thanks man , i used a older model OEM T5 manifold, on these manifolds you could still separate the turbo but this is not a straight bolt on application , it does have to be modified.This manifold also has limitations to consider
I have a volvo s40 t5 2.5 stock and I eat golf 5 .6 gti i only get to compete with the golf 7 r it puts out 250 hp and 350 nm of torque I wouldn't trade it for anything and it's stock
I wish 🤩 unfortunately it’s not possible is South Africa , we do not get any of the P1s in AWD and we cannot import any of these cars or components. I have thought of trying to get a S60R AWD system into the c30 but would be a nightmare I think 🤔
@@TraviG15 Couple questions, why can you not import the parts needed for awd conversion? And, at what hk/nm does tire grip begin to be a problem? Did you install a LSD differential? I am not sure if its better to just buy a S40/V50 AWD or go with the C30. I am thinking drivetrain issues will be my main problem if i go the AWD route, grip for C30. Car needs to be able to outrun my friends A45 AMG that he paid 50.000$ for, i told him a 5000$ car with 5000$ in mods would do it :D How is your engine block holding up with the shims? i was planning on going full retard and buy a 81mm bore block but thats like 2000$ just for a shortblock. Will do turbo upgrade and stand alone management, 450 engine hp with nice torque is what i am looking for. Will also have like 200 kg less weight than the A45. I've got a 06 V70R close to mint condition already but did blow one of those with just a remap before so decided to keep this one stock. Love and respect from Sweden.
@@DarthVader-gc2os okay so in South Africa you cannot import used or 2nd hand components or cars , well legally anyway and the awd drive models in the P1 platform were never brought here , we only got the FWD S40/V50 . We did get P27 AWD but you try and do that conversion would be way more intensive modification. With racing against the A45 it also depends on the type of racing , rolling races I have no problem beating them , from a stand still I have to prepared and have tyre adjustments perfect (1/4 mile racing) . I do not have LSD and traction is a problem but I still manage . The AWD platform is ideal but still flawed , that technology is now old and outdated, guys still have problems with putting down the power there. There are many ways to achieve what you would like to do , I don’t have stand alone management but you can get more power that way , I think it’s more about finding the balance of what is useable power and delivering that to the road better . Thanks man I made it myself, used the original outer piece and then just got hex mesh ,glue ,plastic welding and some filler and painting and there it is . You can buy similar ones from the Uk though

Not bieng horrible but all that effort and cost would have been better buying a modded st or even better a rs...your driving skills dont do justice. You should have put a bigger intercooler on from the start. The st started to catch you after the 1st 200meters...bieng beat by golfs was down to your poor launch im afraid...
All matter of opinion, you have no idea what I have spent and with all the work being done personally, I haven’t spent anywhere near what an RS would cost and honest I’m not one for those cars (looks wise) and they can’t catch me now . For the racing each car is modified in there own way and no idea what setups they are running but yes my driving has progressed and it’s why I hold records for the fastest stock turbo c30 but now with the new setup have to attempt to get other records but thanks for the criticism 🍻 and I value your opinion

Uhm it had intake , downpipe and stage 1 tune if I recall

I moulded the housing ,using universal pods as templates for the gauges
you could have just put in a manually controlled boost valve to the stock set up and got similar results

Not bieng horrible but all that effort and cost would have been better buying a modded st or even better a rs...your driving skills dont do justice. You should have put a bigger intercooler on from the start. The st started to catch you after the 1st 200meters...bieng beat by golfs was down to your poor launch im afraid...
All matter of opinion, you have no idea what I have spent and with all the work being done personally, I haven’t spent anywhere near what an RS would cost and honest I’m not one for those cars (looks wise) and they can’t catch me now .
For the racing each car is modified in there own way and no idea what setups they are running but yes my driving has progressed and it’s why I hold records for the fastest stock turbo c30 but now with the new setup have to attempt to get other records but thanks for the criticism 🍻 and I value your opinion
