    I've had a 12 gallon cube tank with ember tetras, pygmy corys and cherry/Amano shrimp for 2 years now. Heavily planted, they love the java moss, and they breed pretty consistently to stock my other tanks.

    Cannot agree more, very good piece of advice to put shrimps in a well planted aquarium and wait to mature the aquarium first. Ive noticed their favorite place is the "forest" of Limnophilia sessiflora. I've Neocaridina heteropoda (yellow fire) in a community tank and they believe they are fishes too 😂 Swimming all the time, very active.

    In my sons tank he has RCS, bristlenose & endlers. So much breeding going on in there.

    I did the opposite of what you said. Wished I would've saw this sooner. I threw them in yesterday in a tank with 6 zebra danios and a betta. Danios, I'm not too worried about but my betta was going after them.
    However, I think they have a decent chance. My tank is a 20 gallon long and heavily planted. It's been cycled for 2 months now.

    This was the only video I've found that goes into the order of placement. I am establishing my tank now with live plants, now I know to establish the shrimp before the fish. Thank you. I am planning on a few cherry shrimp, a couple amano, small guppy school, one Platy or one female powder blue Gourami, a few Khuli loaches, and one hillstream loach. I'd love your opinion on my community idea. I think the Platy or Gourami might be risky for the shrimp, but they will be plentiful and have cover.

    • @BlakesAquatics
      @BlakesAquatics  4 роки тому

      Yeah i tend to agree, out of all of those the gourami is the main one that worries me. Eg my chocolate gouramis which are a lot smaller took out 20 or 30 shrimp in one day just for fun it seems, next to none of them were eaten just attacked.
      Seems like a super fun community otherwise

    Thank you so much for info on the order of operations when it comes to stocking. The one very important piece of information missing from a lot of videos. I have a 50 gallon with Amano, Red Cherry, Ghost and vampire shrimp. Added a clown pleco today. Am thinking of Congo Tetra and would appreciate a.recommendation for one more species. Thanks again.

      congo tetras get quite large and may be risky, as for my recommendation for a species, hillstream loaches could be a cool choice. Thanks for watching

      Sorry for jumping in here (I’m currently looking for the answer to another question), but we kept Amano Shrimp in a community tank which has Congo Tetras in and they did get eaten. It wasn’t right away, but after a few days all the shrimp had gone.

      Snails owes they won't clean as fast but they won't get killed unless you want to make a breeding shrimp bucket. But shrimp can be food and cleaners for the fish
