Dr. Grande, I just finished reading your book - Harm Reduction. It was a great read, I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for writing this book! I hope you keep writing because you are such a wonderful author. Here is the review for Harm Reduction: The book is about a Mental Health Counselor- Jenny, who besides being accomplished in a variety of ways, holds a fundamental wound that prevents her from achieving genuine fulfillment in life and being her true self. During one of her counseling sessions, she meets a client who turns out to be a serial killer. Her connection with him ends up being much deeper than she would like, making him a source of torment and redemption for her. The plot involves a sophisticated network of manipulation, delusions, and murder. It keeps the reader engaged and guessing until the very end. The characters are unique with intriguing personality traits. The serial killer- Rio, who displays traits of psychopathy, narcissism, delusional thinking and OCD, is a despicable and fascinating man. The cop boyfriend- Sam, despite his shallowness, is able to deliver an unexpected and provocative line “People are sheep. Plain and simple. They turn to wolves to protect them, and then they are amazed to find out that the wolves are going to do whatever the hell they want- that they are going to be wolves.” Jenny is certainly the most insightful one. She is as ordinary as she is complicated. She wants to be a good person, yet she needs to fight for self- preservation. Jenny’s doubts about her own identity, her sense of self-worth, and the shame and guilt that has followed her for many years, creates a character that is relatable in many ways. The quest for discovering who we truly are, the price of each choice we make in life and the pain of dealing with the consequences of our decisions are fundamental aspects of the human experience. Finally, Harm Reduction is an entertaining, captivating, and exciting book that not only delve into intricate works of manipulation and deception but also into the psychological aspects of the human mind. Truly recommend.
Sounds like a terrific read but honestly it really does sound like our DOC . meaning he is a "good🔇" GREAT storyteller... I may have to just buy this book
I always thoroughly enjoy the deadpan joke delivery. "...perhaps it never occurred to deputy Wood that the brain is a vital organ, considering he didn't seem to ever make use of his"
Being an accomplished looter and pillager myself, I'm shocked and disappointed for not having been notified of the many Looter conventions held in Idaho that Doc makes reference too.
Kind of makes sense…if you’ve got a big community of preppers, someone has to keep them on their toes. The looters are doing them a favor by taking their stash before the 30 year expiration date.
I was in a very similar situation. I was 19 and driving 60 mph in a 1994 Grand Am on a dark, foggy night when I encountered a local farmer's herd of black cows on the highway. I was uninjures except for a few spots where shattered glass had grazed me, but 5 cows died. The last two had to be put down, by the owner, while cops watched. Had he had a beer or two? Possibly. Was anybody killed? No. Did the cops shoot the cows? No. I can attest that this is largely the cops fault, who were obviously paranoid (a terrible trait in a police officer) and acted outside of the cattle owner or driver's interests.
"Perhaps it never occurred to deputy Wood that the brain is a vital organ, since he never made use of his." My phone melted a little that burn was so hot Doc! Well played and well deserved to that murderer! Appreciate your video as always!
I think this was a cold blooded murder. That old rancher KNEW how to put the bull out of its misery with a head shot. Drunk or not he would have known how to handle this situation. The two cops obviously didn’t even know HOW to put the poor bull out of its misery with a single headshot. 🙄 Makes me wonder if Jack had made a disparaging comment about these two city slicker keystone cops before he was murdered though. And then to handcuff his family who had just watched him be killed? This was a HOMICIDE.
@@eadweard. She *said* "Makes me wonder if Jack had made a disparaging comment about these two...", and many people have been murdered by cops "afraid for their lives" after citizens have failed/refused to comply or disparaged/disrespected the cops who then felt "threatened" (never threaten a leo's ego). Not that "all cops" always require a motive specific to a situation, often general fear of the public or sensitive egos or desire to kill someone (thrillseeking/powertripping) is more than enough (with qualified immunity).
N.B. Officer Wood's AR15 had 3 custom modifications made to it: a Noveske barrel, flash suppressor, and holographic sight w/ magnifier. Why was Wood allowed to carry and use an unauthorised weapon rather than the service weapon he was issued?
That is so true. I had an acquaintance many years ago who was a police officer in a nearby township. Generally a nice guy, though he would complain how bored he was and that there was no "action" in the township. He became excited when our local regional airport announced job openings for security positions. He told me he got an interview that was coming up and his intent to tell them how excited he was to get a chance to look for "action". I advised him that might not be the persona he should want to project. I found out later he did not get the job.
A lot of officers are unstable individuals.Thats the reason there a cops. They think mr e people are bad than really are or they were picked on a s a kid or raised bad or just born unstable and want power over other people to feel more powerful. And a lot have bad tempers to begin with like a narcicest..There are few good cops.
Ohhh no! Poor bull 😪 the innocent creature suffered so much because of a bunch of dimwits 😭😭😭😭 Dimwits... that's a word right? 😅 Thanks for sharing this Dr!
He doesn’t have anything “professional” to say about this story. Just a boring voice with conjecture. He just talks out of the side of his mouth like knows something about the topic (that he didn’t research very well I’ll add).
The Bull suffered a lot from being shot in the body, a Vet should have been called asap to put the bull down quickly by targeting the correct spot just above the eyes. It doesn't seem to matter when farm animals suffer.
Yes that poor bull was treated horribly! He just had a broken leg and even his owner was going to shoot him but probably in the head so he wouldn't suffer! I think he did it on purpose!
Dr. Grande presents a lot of interesting analysis on these obscure, and often tragic stories I would never otherwise hear about. Sounds like Adams County, Idaho has very low standards for hiring.
Maybe because nobody wants a job where scrutiny has become (maybe rightfully?) so fierce and danger lurks everywhere because of gun prevalence? Just sayin!

@@teresacox2511 Sigh. I'm not really interested, nor is anyone else for that matter, in rolling the dice at a traffic stop or a domestic to meet an officer that may or may not take his oath seriously. You must be living in a bubble.
Also, many places in the west, in very rural low population areas it is still 'open range' and cattle and other large animals are not always inside fences. For properties that have public roads through them, there'll be road signs about this periodically.
Heck, even in rural parts of Florida too. I was driving to work one morning and a cow ran right out in front of me and I had to slam on my brakes. I then looked over to my left and saw a huge gaping hole in it. The cow went back through the hole and I'm assuming back to where it came from. It was completely bizarre.
The fact that neither one had their body cams on would force a court to assume the worst, so they would be by default guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of murder.
When cops are involved in shootings and they don't use their body cams, if there is any discrepancy in the facts of the case, the balance of credibility should automatically be granted to the adversarial party.
Our local cops always wear a black band over their badges. They say it's worn in mourning for a fallen officer. No officers have fallen recently. The band just happens to cover the badge number.
Wow. This is the first time I've seen you try to solve a case. But I loved these two comments (paraphrased). "It may not have occurred to him that the brain is a vital organ because he never used his," and "Bulls are terrible drivers."
That's appalling, animals should be in a paddock. The authorities should have asked the people too remain inside. If the man was inebriated, why didn't the nephew do it. As far as I'm concerned the authorities used un due force. My father was in the SAS ,when we lived on a farm, if an animal was in pain, my dad would get a rifle, it would be done with one shot. Thank you Dr Grande. Great analysis and topic.
"animals should be in a paddock" Idaho is an open range state. Another open range state is Texas. In an open range state animals are allowed to roam freely and paddocks and fencing are not required, though a property owner can put up fencing on his property to keep out the neighbors' animals. If this sounds strange, please remember the while England is 50k mi2, Idaho is 83K mi2 (almost twice the size) and Texas is 268K mi2 (over 5 times the size). The vast amount of land allows for different requirements than an area which is much smaller in size.
Yeah, I don't understand how a cop, living in a rural area, doesn't know how to put an animal down. Maybe NOT shoot them in the body? These cops should be in jail. Great comment, btw! ❤
I'm more concerned about the cops shooting the bull and then leaving him there in pain for Jack Yantis to show up and finish the job they started. And yes, allowing Jack to show up drunk on a four wheeler and then handle a firearm is indicative of piss poor judgment all around.
@@ryanbales8116 I think the reason cops won't do a "mercy killing" is that the animal is someone's property. Shooting a charging bull to protect others is one thing, but deciding to euthanize it is something else and best left to the owner (or a court order). I think, though, the farmer could have given his permission to the officers to do it, then he wouldn't have had to engage his rifle. I will agree, though, with a rifle the cops should have shot the bull in the head / heart to stop it and everything would have ended right there. The fact that all they could do is multiple body shots and didn't kill the animal says a lot about them not knowing how to handle weapons or animals.
@@LouisGiliberto I think at that point, they already passed the point of litigation fears when they shot the bull. I would have put one in his head as soon as he went down, whether he was dead or not. It doesn't sit well with me, but I would feel the same if the cop shot the bull with a six shot revolver.

Hiding evidence, such as keeping your bodycam off or in the vehicle, should be considered in the worst possible light. I think that fact changes the guilty beyond a reasonable doubt to yes. We need to send a message that hiding the truth is the worst thing you can do.

How do you not get banned from the police for sleeping with a CI that's abuse of power, extracting sexual favours on threat of prosecuting a crime is high levels of abuse and emotional torture that guy shouldve actually been in prison
I know. He was fired and allowed to work for another police agency. That shouldn't be allowed, either. He should have faced charges for the crimes you mentioned.
That is true and their best bet is to leak it to the media immediately. The previous case Dr.Grande covered were the 2 officers killed an unarmed man the private body cam footage wasn't deemed admissible in court so the jury never saw how unreasonable the cops were being, barking contradictory orders at a terrified man even seemed to get enjoyment from taunting him, he begged them not to kill him, and they had ample opportunity to cuff the guy but choose instead to play a game of "simon says" as Dr. Grande put it. The cops were completely acquitted of any charges and given retirement with full pension benefits. The footage was later leaked to the media and you can find it on youtube now. I believe if the jury had been allowed to see the footage there is a good chance they would have charged them with manslaughter at the very least.
If an officer shuts off his or her body cam in this context, it should be automatic charges for obstruction and destroying evidence.
And automatic guilt as to any charges against them.
It was never activated no laws against not using them it's policy issue should be fired for not using it.

@@bthomson Frankly they shouldn't have been there at all, and I highly doubt one good cop being present would undo any and all shady stuff these two have done, would do and will do. There shouldn't have to be a "good cop" to babysit two bad cops to make sure they behave and follow the law. That responsibility shouldn't be on the good cop, they're supposed to be able to trust the other to follow protocol so everyone can do the job right. It would be one thing having two bad sales reps and one good one working at a retail store, but having two bad cops anywhere is one too many ever. It's absurd. It's dangerous. It also makes me wonder about the rest of the department they're from.
Hi Dr. Grande! As you were telling the story, I kept say "Oh no, oh no". It just kept getting more and more suspenseful of what horrible outcome was to come. You are a great "situation storyteller"!!

Dr. Grande, I just finished reading your book - Harm Reduction. It was a great read, I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for writing this book! I hope you keep writing because you are such a wonderful author.
Here is the review for Harm Reduction:
The book is about a Mental Health Counselor- Jenny, who besides being accomplished in a variety of ways, holds a fundamental wound that prevents her from achieving genuine fulfillment in life and being her true self.
They turn to wolves to protect them, and then they are amazed to find out that the wolves are going to do whatever the hell they want- that they are going to be wolves.”
Jenny is certainly the most insightful one.
It sounds great! Can't wait to read it. ☺
@@LDiamondz I think you will enjoy!😉
Sounds like a terrific read but honestly it really does sound like our DOC . meaning he is a "good🔇" GREAT storyteller... I may have to just buy this book
That "considering he never made use of his own brain" roast was golden!! haha
After that kind of "too" there should be another modifier! Too little advertised, too far away, too much money, too many cows?
Kind of makes sense…if you’ve got a big community of preppers, someone has to keep them on their toes. The looters are doing them a favor by taking their stash before the 30 year expiration date.
What? You didn't get The Idaho Loot and Loiter newsletter? Check your spam folder. 😆
Don't worry, there's no high end handbag shops there so you looters wouldn't bother.
Glad you were mostly unhurt!
Drive through hamburger? ;)
Glad you are OK

This example of state brutality is egregious and unwarranted.
Which state? Idaho? Really more the nature of these particular cops and the complex situation?
Jack Yantis was not black, explains why very few ever heard of this case.
@@alexman8800 This is not a good thing. When white people are victims of police misconduct, it's never reported.
Hows that shoe leather taste?
I think this was a cold blooded murder. That old rancher KNEW how to put the bull out of its misery with a head shot. Drunk or not he would have known how to handle this situation. The two cops obviously didn’t even know HOW to put the poor bull out of its misery with a single headshot. 🙄 Makes me wonder if Jack had made a disparaging comment about these two city slicker keystone cops before he was murdered though. And then to handcuff his family who had just watched him be killed? This was a HOMICIDE.
What do you think the motive was?
This this this
@@eadweard. they were probably hot headed maybe he said something they viewed as disrespect. Some will kill for little to nothing
@@CrazySexyCoolmeisha So effectively we're saying there was no motive?
Dr. Grande, could you review the case of Shoko Asahara (the mastermind behind the 1995 sarin gas attack in Tokyo)?

Good idea.
Great suggestion. !
So true. Officers tend to be sensation-seeking. Oftentimes they are looking for action or drama...even when there is nothing happening.🙄

Afternoon Dr. G. Thanks for the new post. Admire your dedication & work ethic. Still awake in Chicago!
The title is everything! I really appreciate hearing your professional opinion on what you cover. You're also a great storyteller!
He doesn’t have anything “professional” to say about this story. Just a boring voice with conjecture. He just talks out of the side of his mouth like knows something about the topic (that he didn’t research very well I’ll add).
The bull was the only innocent party and suffered the most harm because of lack of human decency and civilized behavior
The Bull suffered a lot from being shot in the body, a Vet should have been called asap to put the bull down quickly by targeting the correct spot just above the eyes. It doesn't seem to matter when farm animals suffer.
The bull wasn't totally innocent, he had escaped from his pen without permission, i would imagine.
Yes that poor bull was treated horribly! He just had a broken leg and even his owner was going to shoot him but probably in the head so he wouldn't suffer! I think he did it on purpose!
Thanks for the consistent content! Just received your book "Harm Reduction" and can't wait to find time to read it!
Surely time well spent!
Dr. Grande presents a lot of interesting analysis on these obscure, and often tragic stories I would never otherwise hear about. Sounds like Adams County, Idaho has very low standards for hiring.
Either that or they're looking for trouble?
It’s extremely easy to become a cop pretty much anywhere in the US
Maybe because nobody wants a job where scrutiny has become (maybe rightfully?) so fierce and danger lurks everywhere because of gun prevalence? Just sayin!

The looter conventions?!? Just too funny Doc. Sadly, another case of cops being cops I'm afraid. Great critique Doc. Thanks.
Cops being cops?? What does that even mean? I’m sure you could probably name a handful of bag cops in resent history, but there are hundreds of thousands of good police officers working in America to keep your a$$ safe and millions of Americans safe everyday. Don’t lump them all in together with the few bad ones. They put their lives on the line every single day for ungrateful a$$wipes such as yourself. Next time you’re in danger or you need help in any way, don’t you dare dial 911. 🤬

@@teresacox2511 Sigh. I'm not really interested, nor is anyone else for that matter, in rolling the dice at a traffic stop or a domestic to meet an officer that may or may not take his oath seriously. You must be living in a bubble.
Police do this type of thing a lot in the us. Stop boot licking.
2 bad cops. So sad this happened.
And a drunk rancher with a firearm, you can’t not put that in the equation.
These cops had previous problems at another city nearby. Hence shuffled off to another town.
Too bad cops, no Donuts! Leave it to Idaho!
I wonder if that has free range?
The fact that neither one had their body cams on would force a court to assume the worst, so they would be by default guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of murder.
Dumbest comment so far. We have a system in the US. Courts base decisions on evidence, not whether or not a body cam is on.
I hope you don’t vote.

BOOM. Dr. Grande is my spirit animal ♡
Cameras are definitely a big problem when the police can turn them on and off at will.
Right? What's the point of them if you can leave one in the car or turn it off.
That’s messed up. And scary. They should be reported!
Yikes 😐
Wow. This is the first time I've seen you try to solve a case. But I loved these two comments (paraphrased). "It may not have occurred to him that the brain is a vital organ because he never used his," and "Bulls are terrible drivers."
I read about this case. Those officers are a menace to the public. IMO
The time it takes you to produce these great videos is astounding.
It doesn't sit well with me, but I would feel the same if the cop shot the bull with a six shot revolver.

i think it's best if the public uses cameras , they don't malfunction as often after deadly shootings .
