Oh so innocent, wondering why she has a self-cleaning mouth. You sweet, summer child
I wish you didn't act like an insecure straight bro at the mere sight of male nudity in a movie.
Okay so I may have read this as "Meagan Fox and the 365 Gay Guys", which is possibly an even more interesting if confusing premise
What were you hoping for chronicles of ram ranch
this comment made my day 😂
That’s also how I read it 😂
@@andrewceballos5404I think that's what a few of us would be hoping for 😂
Megan Fox goes for a blind date every day for a year and finds out her date is a closeted gay guy everytime.
An interesting twist would be if the movie went the other way--if the dad got the helper sexbot with nefarious purposes in mind, only for her to develop an attachment to the ailing wife.
I'd actually watch that!
that'd be so much better! perhaps the wife's word "please look after my children and make sure they're loved, even when I'm not around" would spark change and the robot would truly care about the wife and children as her family, wanting more than just being a sex toy to the father. the end would be the weakened, but recovering wife taking off with the bot and children, leaving her husband.
Yeah, we keep getting the same lady robot being obsessed over the dad and or the kid. But never the mom.
Hrmm somewhat murderous ai megan fox/ailing human mother yuri... i'm sold actually
@@annewilliams3085 Everything's better with yuri
I wish Megan Fox got to consistently be in movies wherein she actually gets to act instead of just being a sexy lamp. She's not a bad actress, she just rarely gets to be in anything with substance, and I think she deserves to be.
This is with the TILL DEATH director where she really got a chance to do something different, so I feel like this was definitely something she wanted to do. But not sure how many more serious roles come her way or if she even wants to tackle them right now.
This is where you really should watch Till Death. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that she was fantastic and it was her best work so far in movies. She was against type in that role and was totally awesome. Kinda like a Gerald's Game type story but really tho, she shines in that movie and I wish we could see her do roles like that more often
She definately wanted this role. Her loser boyfriend has had a weird influence on her.
I think of Demi Moore with The Substance, stellar performance kinda later in her career that still has me in awe. I hope she scores a similar trajectory.
I'm sorry to distract, but describing her casting as sexy lamp is just really funny for some reason
This is literally a Temu version of Detroit Become Human.
I laughed. Hard! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
tough the same as soon as i saw the Alice book. They dismenbered Todd betwen maximus e the older guy, then added a few things.
Or Temu version of the tv series 'Humans'.
Feels right to see this comment when I'm replaying the game
THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING
is this the subplot of detroit become human?!?! but with lifetime movie drama?? instead of the actual good drama DBH gave us??
Why I never thought of DBH while watching this😂
I am so glad someone else said it
That's what I instantly thought too.
I immediately thought of DBH right as she started describing the plot in the beginning lmao
DBH and the shows Humans made the Android thing so much better. Other SciFi shows like Dark Matter and Star Trek, too.
It feels like Megan Fox is doing the most random things these days
And I love that for her
@@AmandaTheJediHave you seen that movie where Megan Fox plays an angel fallen on Earth who’s the property of a gangster? It’s called PASSION PLAY (2010). It’s weird, but would be interesting to see you cover it.
It is giving, she does a movie when she needs some extra spending cash or sees something off the wall😅
@@Nicolesid1 Similar to Nick Cage
@@mxmissyyeah but Nicolas is a better actor tho
So it's Detroit: Become Human, but as a Lifetime movie plot. This would've been a nice opportunity for actor cameos.
Love This 😂💀
That's exactly what I was thinking
Omg yes
I THOUGHT SO TOO
No joke, as you were explaining the premise of the movie I was like "Oh, they just made Detroit: Become Human into a horror movie"
Edit: Oh my god did DBH actually handle the premise better than this? How is that possible?
Edit 2: To be clear, I'm not shitting on DBH. I absolutely love the game to bits but I do acknowledge that is has... issues
Of course it handled it better😭 especially compared to this shitshow, at least DBH did the basics right (yes it is my guilty pleasure game what about it😔)
DBH is GOD TIER.
DBH is quite bad but at least it like... has ideas. They're mostly not good ideas, and they're not done very well, but they are ideas and are given some amount of time to be explored.
@@android19willpwn I totally respect it’s not everyone’s cup of tea I absolutely adore it but can see where someone wouldn’t enjoy it.
worst thing I remember about the DBH plot was the robots starting their revolution before humanity even knew they weren't just toasters anymore and had achieved sentience.
Pls just give us a chance to acknowledge you before killing us :D
But it was a long time ago, maybe it was addressed at some time and I just don't remember
Why does the robot look human? Why is it designed to look like Megan Fox instead of like an old lady nanny? Why does it have lady bits and sexy underwear?
Because if the engineers that worked for Elon Musk or any of the other techbro millionaires were capable of making realistic humanoid robots he would absolutely insist on them making the robots that way. Regardless of how many objections were raised and how often it was pointed out that the primary customer for a nanny bot was going to be families including mothers who would find them objectionable and off putting.
To be fair if they could make sex bots like in the movie they wont need to make any other kind of bot ever.
Bingo
Haha true though... Sadly
@@Whanevs I mean, from the trailer i kinda just assumed it WAS a sexbot and the whole "takes care of the family" was a wink-wink-nudge-nudge sorta thing for the guy buying it.
Like when OpenAI introduced chatGPT female voice that sounded exactly like Scarlett Johansson and talked in a weird flirty tone.
I wish Megan Fox could be more serious in taking her acting roles instead of being typecast as whatever this role is. Her most underrated work "Till Death" was probably the closest we could see in Megan doing more serious and great stuff on movies when she's given a different type of material that really works
She was also great in the first two Transformers movies. Mikaela was the best human character in those films and honestly should've been the main character because she was a lot more interesting than Sam.
You should see her in Rogue. About a mercenary unit being hunted by a rogue lioness.
She was really good in Jennifer’s Body too.
Unfortunately the horrid objectification seems to have crushed her confidence and made her focus on her looks only. A shame as she is witty and talented and has so much more to offer
@@theaizere She was more attractive in 2007 than after the arbitrary surgeries.
Amanda clearly wants a full movie built on the premise of that Futurama episode where Fry dates a Lucy Liu-bot. But Megan Fox is the bot and Aubrey Plaza is the human.
GET OUT OF MY HEAD
@@AmandaTheJediI feel like "Take this premise but make it campier and sapphic" is always a safe bet around here.
Or one where it’s all the sex ed videos mentioned in that episode. Electric Gonorrhea - The Noisy Killer.
@@AmandaTheJedi 😂 "add Aubrey Plaza" seems like a safe bet around here.
I know you're waiting for the VOD to be available, but I can't wait for your "Substance" video
I was also thinking Kayta on "Archer." It partially answers some of the....anatomy questions.
I really do hate all these "evil AI" movies because I feel they all miss the point and basically give humanity a pass. Like this film basically opens with the 100% realistic outcome that humans will layoff other humans and replace them with robots and then decides to go "but no the real baddie is this horny sexbot." Like the monster should be us (human greed, callousness, etc) and AI just a tool to make that monstrosity worse.
You're right. That message is something we need to hear right now to spark thinking and conversation about something that is already happening and about which we can take a stand. We have enough "Skynet is bad" movies
This is why I love iRobot
But of course that completely contradicts the whole purpose of making and promoting the cinematic feature which is to make as much money as possible so its absolutely redundant and senseless to insult and turn off your paying viewers which are surprise humans
If they made a sequel, I like the idea that the new model Alice has to protect the family, who are being hunted by the company who want to keep the incident quiet, and are on the run. She has to protect them from the androids they've sent to hunt them. Maybe they have an android that is almost entirely liquid metal and can take any form and--
--wait.
"There is no fate but what we make...."
Absolutely wild to me how these sexybots always go so wild for the most uninteresting men,,
Pop Culture Detective actually did a video on this kind of thing, he calls it the "born sexy yesterday" trope, it's really interesting if also pretty depressing
Man if they want to sell me a robot just give me a box with wheels and arms. No reason to make them humanoid at all.
Yes, non of this uncanny valley BS and shades of slavery. If they are selling them as appliances, they should look like appliances. Also, bipedal motion with only two arms is a limmited design.
I feel like making them so humanistic would give you uncanny valley vibes.
Exactly. Why aren’t all the people working on robots aware of how dangerous it is to make something that a regular human could grow attached to because they feel so real.
Yeah, give me the moon oven from A Grand Day Out over M3GAN or any of these other humanoid abominations any day
@@SocialExperiment232corporations objectify humans: its pretty much a direct statement of how corporate owners see the human race... we are literal crops to them to farm as they please, the private industry is far more advanced and developed than the public will ever be allowed to know. thats why movies like this are total trash along with the entire hollywood film industry.
15:50 Some body builders, especially actors, exercise regime is all for looks and they're actually quite unhealthy, dehydrated and muscles are mostly only good for lifting weights. A seasoned construction worker though with muscle and fat would actually do quite well in a fight. Then again, Dad is also a construction worker so the real life health of the actor wouldn't actually apply to him. I'd say they're equally matched but other guy might be more experienced in a fight.
experience is also a thing .. just because you are a gym rat, it does not mean you know how to throw a punch.
I was more surprised that he was a construction worker. Considering that he can afford middle class expenses while being the only breadwinner for the family, I thought they would give him one of these favorite movie jobs like architect.
If anything, would there be any construction workers left if you can buy a robot for cheaper than it costs to hire a nanny for a couple of months (megan-bot mentions that she is cheaper than a human nanny at some point)
seriously why does the robot have a robussy? im so confused.

6:46 As an OG Heroes dweeb I fully understand why this was your point of reference, but it seems more relevant somehow that that's the youngest daughter from The Nanny
And the evil stepsister from A Cinderella Story starring Hilary Duff
i’ve never heard of this in my entire life but I cannot wait to laugh at it ☠️
There was no way this movie was going to be good, but at least Megan understood the assignment. 😂
Why do they always make the robots so good looking? Is it just a foregone conclusion that people will want to f*ck it? I'd much prefer an old granny shaped robot. And as for the movie aspect, it would be so much more scary/funny/interesting seeing Nana walking terminator style with a knife saying 'Deary its past your bedtime!'
robots are designed by people and those old guys at the top would probably demand a 'hot' and fuckable outward appearance.
If I was offered one I'd want an Oliver Platt shaped one. Asking him for help would just feel natural and I'd feel safe with him in my home.
Be a really good idea to have robots/actors be typecast and then it turn badly. Like granny robot loves the kids to death, gardener robot goes scorched earth on the lawn, maybe even the big scary guard dog robot is the nicest one idk.
If this film was honest then it outright say that the main lead brought the robot so he could have sex with it instead of this innocent bullshit.
Oh, you would LOVE Äkta Människor then! It is the original Swedish series (adapted into Humans in the UK), in which is the character you're describing: an old nanny robot who's a caretaker for an old widower... the rest would be spoiler territory, but I vividly remember the knife scene.
at the beginning of the trailer i thought it was going to be a Detroit: become human film, or set in the universe (that would be really good) but it was just a bunny boiler sex robot film, not as interesting.
You can't just say "bunny boiler sex robot film" like its a pre existing concept 😂

Audible has been pushing a new book called Annie Bot that has this same premise. we're going to get a lot of this.
I wonder how long it will be before the genders are flipped and a male Android becomes obsessed with a woman
Why do robots in this kind of movies always seem to want to do anything to have us, men. We are not worth it.
P.S: that "primary user" thing is hilarious, I'm gonna tell that to my partner.
I swear the guys the robots go gaga for are like not worth it. Like they could do better lol
They're robots- that's the point. There's no value or point to them getting attached.

OMG it's Grace from The Nanny!
Thank you! I knew I recognized her
@@Cathymcfarland If I'm being honest the first thing I ever saw her in was actually A Cinderella Story
Amazing review! Now, this movie to me feels like the director saw "Humans", the beautiful BBC show with Gemma Chan and William Hurt, and thought: "I can do that, but with more horror". He really, really could not. There are a ton of parallels, to the point it feels legally actionable. The young daughter who really likes the robot, the creepiness of the android (in the show it's the eyes, which are truly disquieting, not the mouth which is hilarious), the wife who is absent but does not want the android, the a*shole construction guy who beats up robots (yup, there is one of those as well), the bedtime story substitution and I could go on.
And it seems like they ripped the "primary user" thing from "Better Than Us", an awesome Russian Netflix series. Except there, the robot gave it freely because she automatically imprinted on the family (who did not buy her nor intend to; she found them on her own), unlike here where Megan Foxbot just boringly asks the guy about it.
@@Keznen Interesting, I will give it a watch. There is a primary user in Humans as well: in that show, the father (as primary user) has total control over the android and he is the one to activate the 'adult' option that came with purchasing the android.
@@corradosecchi6810 Watch it with subs and not the dub. The dub leaves out a lot of cultural details.
I wish they would have done her hair and makeup a different way. Idk she just looks like megan fox on an average day. I wish they would have made her more uncanny.
her fake plastic face pumped full of botox and filler is definitely uncanny enough
"I can have scars. Where would you like them?"
"Why do I feel like MGK said that to her?"
He gave her a barbed wedding ring...soooo....
And the funniest part is they think it's quirky and unique, and not something we saw Angeline Jolie do 20 years earlier with half her partners.
And not even she was the first to do it either. It's almost like we have a rerun of that couple in school who were "not like other couples".
That micro-subplot about the abused robot would've been a more original concept and a much better movie if done right. We already have so many movies (good and bad) about robots terrorizing humans, but few if any the other way around.
A sad story about an AI-having robot (a female one in this outline, though this concept could work with a male one too) whose programmed purpose is to love and care for her human owner, but is abused by them under the justification that she's "not real". And then it could go several ways from there.
I'd take the kdramas about robot. They're the only ones in which the robot is male and not a female s*x toy
Some media has done this if you're interested - the Eden Club subplot in Detroit Become Human (game), or Niska's subplot in Humans (TV show), for reference
Honestly, this was quite the wild movie in casting for sure. While it made sense with casting Massimo as still a manipulative shit partner that we’d love to hate it was also really funny to see Megan take this part and be so perfect. Her acting was pretty on point for what they were going for but also her new look with the work she has been recently getting just fits when playing a robot. Just little sense being a maid/nanny robot! 😂😅
I actually wonder if 'Massimo's cctor enjoys being type cast into those rolls. would be kinda amusing if the actor was a super-feminist IRL, while always playing such assholes on screen.

Much preferred this concept in the BBC show Humans. Definitely handles the nuances of the "primary user" thing better.
I want my robot to be Oliver Platt shaped. Safe, fatherly, with a calming presence. No hot young people robots allowed in my house. I'd worry my neighbors would sneak in and steal or distract it from important dog-watching duties.
I honestly thought you would have made the comment that the tv show Humans (2015) did this whole concept better. Just my opinion.
I immediately also thought of Humans. The sex toy argument scene in particular reminded me of how that scene played out so much better on that show.
That, Äkta människor (the Swedish series Humans was based on), and Better Than Us (Лучше чем люди) all did it a thousand times better. All really underrated too.

I feel like even the human-like robot wouldn’t pronounce it “anything elts.” Like did they program it to mispronounce stuff for the realism? Is slightly mispronouncing stuff even something that would make consumers feel more comfortable? Does the robot also swap “wary” and “weary” and say “for all intensive purposes?” For realism?

I liked the dangerous robot nanny premise when it was the 15-minute short film "CC" starring Jewel Staite right here on UA-cam.
It's a shame the filmmakers didn't consider their own worldbuilding more deeply. It sounds like the story had the potential to say something thoughful about the effects of technology on everyday lives. As you noted, they could have done some interesting exploration into the consequences of automation replacing human workers without societal systems in place to support those unemployed humans, and/or the construction of an ethical code without an innate sense of morality. Hopefully, this movie will inspire someone else to go down that road.

If you want to see good Android stuff I think the shows Humans, Dark Matter and Star Trek did it much better. Detroit Become Human is an awesome console game that has Androids developing self-understanding too.
A show that was axed after one season but that I also loved was Almost Human with Michael Ealy and Karl Urban.
The show Better Than Us did it better too.
