- North London is fiercely contested territory between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur fans, but how did this come to be? Why did Arsenal move from their original home in Woolwich to become neighbours with Tottenham? How did they afford their new stadium at Highbury? And why did every man in the early 1900s have a moustache?

I would say the research / script writing process takes around 2-4 days depending on the subject. VO and sound editing takes about a day in total. The motion design / editing process takes the bulk of my time, typically about 4/5 days I would say. Then one more day for any final tweaks, render, upload to UA-cam, Thumbnails, title and description.
A rough guide, each stage could take more or less depending on circumstances. But hopefully gives you the gist!

Absolutely, considering Charlton turned senior the same year Arsenal moved, what would have happened to their growth? Would another club have filled the gap that Arsenal filled? Fascinating to think about.
So moving to Manor Ground in 1888.. this was not long after the Great Stink around the House of Commons (and the slow realisation that all this excrement in the water supplies was causing horrific cholera outbreaks) caused people to think about building proper sewage & drain facilities.

@@englishjona6458 Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! Tom Parker didn't join Arsenal until 1926, so you might be thinking of Arsenal's first FA cup win in 1930 over (Herbert Chapman's former club no less) Huddersfield Town. Arsenal were very much established at Highbury by that point

The Football League permitting clubs to move stadiums had always been previously allowed as Millwall moved across the River Thames to South London in 1910 & Manchester United moved from Manchester to Old Trafford the same year. Aston Villa won 3 FA Cups & 3 League titles before moving to Villa Park. Everton won their first League Title playing at Anfield.
As a native from north London and a supporter of the mighty Spurs, I was taught from an early age that Woolwich wanderers are a south London team, who conspired to get us kicked out of the Ist division of the football league after the Great War in 1919. Your excellent video adds way more background to that story for me. Thank you for enlightening me and providing more ammunition/armaments to fire back the next time I meet one of those damned gooners. COYSX!

Amazing video, I just wish you had mentioned the suffragettes burning down the old arsenal stadium which helped force the move to the north at that time. It wasn’t the only factor but it contributed, and is a really interesting bit of history that is not very well known!
I have always wanted to make a video going into how the suffragettes are partially responsible for the north London rivalry (a bit tongue in cheek obviously!)

The name is intended to be a play on 'route one' football; I consider the videos I make to be a bit silly / whimsical, and I think the channel name relates to that idea.
A clear example of football clubs in this country also being a business, NOT being a new thing
A few years before he bought into Woolwich Arsenal, Henry Norris had been offered Stamford Bridge as a new stadium for Fulham FC. He turned it down. So the Mears Brothers formed their own club to play there and within a very short time Chelsea were getting the biggest attendances in England. I think Norris realised he'd made a mistake plus the professional game lay in the nationwide Football League while Fulham had still been in the Southern League at the time. Who knows what would have happened had he been successful in merging his two clubs? These were the years that shaped London football. Charlton Athletic largely filled the void in that part of SE London after Arsenal left.

Grew up in Upper Holloway & a proud Spurs fan. Amid the Woolwich gyspy stuff, when Tottenham were created, they weren’t even in London!
None of us knew this information when we were kids in reality. Just like wars, decisions that are made before our time, largely have nothing to do with us.
I for one, are glad they moved up as I love our rivalry that’s the NLD.
