I was wondering when you would get your review of this camera out! EXCELLENT job as usual Jay; Nicely done! P.S: It's REALLY nice watching you chronicle your children growing up. It seems like only yesterday Lela was just a baby! Thank you for sharing your family with us.
Thank you very much :) It is fun for me to go back and watch the old videos and see the kids, when I answer questions and stuff. I usually let them play as I read the comments and reply...
Hi Shane, you are very welcome and thanks for the very nice comments :) Bones's eyes are all fixed now and he's doing great just to let you know. Have a good night my friend.
Man you are my favorite reviewer! I like your lab very much, Also I love Leyla and Jase! (I hope am spelling the names right ,lol) keep the great work coming and god bless you and your wonderful family =) Q: all shots done with 24-70 GM?
Hello Hussein and thank you very much for the kind comments ;) Layla and Jase are the best, no doubt and I'm glad you like the Lab... Almost all the photos were taken with the 24-70mm GM Lens. The few that weren't were of the Dog Sage and the little baby in the sun and the 1yr old B-Day cake photo which was in the sun. They were taken with the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS Lens via Metabones Adapter... Thanks again and have a great day, Jay
Nice thorough review! The only thing I'd say, from one point it is a great camera for wild life shooters, but from the other point almost all animal (especially bird) pictures require crop, and the resolution of what's left after crop drops 3-4 times lower than the original size. And that's why 24Mp is not enough. So, IMO, this camera is a dream machine for sports and journalism, but not the best for landscape and wild life photography.
Very good points Harry, Thanks! Another reason the extra MP and lack of Low Pass Filter of the A7r II comes into play ;) The A7r II is an awesome camera for sure and certainly has it's place in the market! Thanks again, Jay
Hey Buddy and thank you :) I think I was in like 5 or 6th grade in that photo, but I would have to ask my Mom to find out for sure... And yeah, my hair is a thining disaster these days!!
Nice revie :) We use this camera for a long time and we are very happy with this camera. We use this for many things e.g work for a newsmagazin/magazines in Germany or for imagephotos for company. For sport (special ski/nordic-sport like skijumping) ist this camera amazin special with a Metabones (i hoe a native 400m comes from Sony) - the shutter is extrem fast and the AF is very good - i like it. A A7RII is often use for my expedition work in my native country Nepal and this camera ist rock solid.
I made that Parcord wrist strap myself :) Here is the link to the thread on the forum where we were all playing around making them: sonyalphalab.com/forums/showthread.php?560-Wrist-Strap
Still have not seen anyone cover contrast AF on the A9. I rented it for a few days & once again when shooting at slow shutter speeds & high F-stops you cannot use the Phase AF amazing 699 autofocus point system instead you get to use a 25 point slow as hell horrible tracking system. I called Sony & they said contrast af on A9 is 25% faster than on A7rii but I don't see a difference. So the best tracking system ever made is useless for tracking at 1/30 & lower & f10 & higher or there abouts. So if you want to introduce motion blur on the wheels of a car on a panning shot...good luck. For people who always shoot wide open this is not an issue but if your a sports, airplane, motorsport or even bird photographer this will be an issue. It's $4500.00 for an A9 & my old film cameras track better in manual focus than Sony's contrast af at these settings
Yeah, the Phase detection AF does not work in super low light or high apertures. It's the limitation of the tiny sensor embedded modules apparently... As I said in my A99 II review, the A9 is really good, but still not as good as the DSLR in the AF department low light and higher aperture wise in particular. On the Sony A9, the af points only work with vertical lines as far as how the focus points find contrast and lock on. The A9 has No X-Point AF points like the ones found on DSLR's like the A99 II and others... Knowing that might help with what your trying to do possible.
One of the best reviews that i have seen for this camera! Cheers...
Thank you so much ;)
As always, you are my favorite reviewer.
Thank you very much :)

Awesome review, I'm waiting to see what spec the A7Siii will be ;)
Thank you and I am as well :) I'm guessing phase detection on a new sensor!!
Another great review Jay!
How old is that yearbook photo of you? I think you like it because you have spiky hair in it, no way we could do that now ;)
Hey Buddy and thank you :) I think I was in like 5 or 6th grade in that photo, but I would have to ask my Mom to find out for sure... And yeah, my hair is a thining disaster these days!!
I gave up that battle long time ago :)
Other than hair you look good, did you loose some weight?
Thanks and yeah, I lost a little weight ;) I cut the sugar out and the weight just fell off....
Brilliant review, would be great if you follow up with the new firmware 5 upgrade
Now they just have to make them weather sealed. Excellent video
Thank you and yes I agree! An ultra rugged fully weather sealed model would be awesome :) How much do you think that would cost??
Amazing review. Helped me work out some confusion with menus and custom settings.
Nice review! Quite thorough.
Thank you!
I hope you can afford it now, and for sure used ones are looking very good, I've seen one for $2500...
That is a big negative, but perhaps one day :)
Nice revie :)

What is a link to the hand strap that you had on the A9?
I made that Parcord wrist strap myself :) Here is the link to the thread on the forum where we were all playing around making them: sonyalphalab.com/forums/showthread.php?560-Wrist-Strap
friend you didn;t spoke about electronic shutter
Sorry I did not cover that, do you have any specific questions?
