For someone who is so concerned with wanting the safety and security of village life for their children. No alley, but out of the blue wants to buy a bar and live above a bar and raise children over that and a tiny living space? That made no sense at all.
Julie is rude and not as clever as she thinks
an odd couple: She objected to the side alley next to the pretty chip shop because she says she doesn't want unruly people hanging around her backdoor AND YET she was willing to live in a ugly house above A PUB where people are guaranteed to be drunk at all hours? - SHEESH!
And I must say that the husband didn't look all that happy minding the shop - just sayin.
Very curious to know whether they are still together or divorced by now. The wummun just wanted it all and didn't leave any space for her husband.
I can't for the life of me understand her reasoning for wanting a pub. Not a family business at all, and like you said, drunk, rowdy people at all hours of night!
@@Mariana-ud7dw I know it sounds mean, but I have the feeling that she kept having babies so she did not have to work on the shop , the same way that she would find excuses to not work at the pub either and he doesn't sound happy at all with having to work more hours at something he does not like. Most families that I know of that have these sort of business both work long hours to make them profitable. Here it's just him.
Not to mention that she wanted a huge garden but looking at the property they got she didn't even clean it, no wonder with two babies and another on the way, so why a huge garden?!

Officially I think these two are the most slap-triggering type house hunters on all fronts that I have seen on any of these episodes … and that is saying a lot. Congrats to this married couple on at least (despite their best efforts) accidentally avoiding moving the infant and toddler above a bar on a busy corner that you can’t even remotely afford.
They are so lucky that they didn't get the pub. That woman was clueless!

I think they were as bad as each other to be honest. The numbers didn't stack up in the pubs favour, nor did the amount of hours they would have to work to get half of what they could have earned in the ally chip shop. 🤯
When I need a mood change, I find just watching Phil, Kirstie going about their business puts me in a cheery space. Cheers!
The benefit to the shop is that it closes at a reasonable time of day. The chippy could be open until 10 p.m. or later. The shop can close at 6 p.m. and its family all evening.
Very interesting episode. I found it fascinating seeing what businesses in small English communities are for sale. They should have gone with the first property, the chip shop. The husband's eyes lit up when he saw it. Forget the alley - in a small village it wouldn't matter. Oh well, I hope they didn't regret their decision. Thanks for the upload.
i think the courner shop buisness will have held its value more than the fish shop, they are dying in this day and age.

The guitar! At 9:50. (I'm keeping track.) Julie seems worried that her children will be poisoned by anything other than clean country living. I'm just not so sure about what Kirstie calls "family focus" when it eliminates so many modes of living.
A shop is better, cos everyone needs groceries, whilst in today's market having a take away is a treat

@@resnonverba137 I know I do, but I do still make very occasional purchases from two of the small shops [Off Licenses] near me. They have paid staff in them. They aren't owner-occupied. I do often wonder how long they can go on.
@@favouritemoon4133 Their time is surely numbered. Useful though they can be, they can't compete on price and can't make much money. Not a good combination.
Seems rather a risk to sell the business with no future prospects and an expanding family to support.

best property is the one with store and post office…and yet he prefers the bar???? when he craves to have time for the family….and that woman wants her kids to grow up in a pub, that will surely make her feel so secure
With the property they really want, they could make it into a bed & breakfast, with the upstairs as guest rooms, as they'll be living in the refurbished out house

@@moonwitch1 It's called sarcasm, Grandma, lol. I knew what you meant, but decided to amuse myself instead of stating the obvious, which was what Sona did. Uploading newer episodes is more difficult due to copyright. The older the episode is, the less likely it would get taken down.

@@sonaterese799 so it makes the prices, design choices and few other things irrelevant and hence, just a bit less interesting. just like i enjoy blk/wht movies a whole lot less than color ones. ... it's still better than nothing but wouldnt it be fun if they did a follow-up and go to visit them now.
It's easier to post older episodes on UA-cam. Newer episodes tend to get copyright issues. The older the episode, the longer it stays on UA-cam. Also, they tend to do updates on recent house hunts. They did one recently that was from 2010 and then there was one couple from 2009, another couple from 2011 and maybe a few others, but all of the others I've seen from the past five years or so was from 2015 onwards.
@@Kevin-sm8pn thank you for a very logical and detailed explanation. I've decided I'm now going to enjoy these old ones even more than the new ones and use them for comparison how design and prices have changed through decades.

Go online and look at property if you want to know the prices. I never heard of this programme before I saw it on UA-cam. I don't care how old the episodes are, because Kirstie and Phil are so entertaining, and it's just interesting to look into properties in different parts of the UK. If I were interesting in buying property in the UK today, I would not expect to get leads by watching a TV show about OTHER PEOPLE'S needs and preferences in buying a house. I'd go online or find an estate agent to look for what I want. So complaining about old episodes is kind of pointless. Who cares what the price would be today? Only someone who wants to buy the same property in the same place today. So go online and see if it's for sale and for how much.
@@FigaroHey ok, so who cares about what you care about. Loads of stuff out there thas is entertaining to .... minds. Out of interest it still would be nice to get a reference where the housing market is at in other countries. I am not interested in buying in the UK.... I stumbled across this, but seems a waste of time from my point of view, not only old, but completely unrealsitic. For my the UK is shitty weather and likewise peole, sorry to say. Happy to be where I am.... loads of sun, great food and nobody pushing the vax 😀 Have a good weekend.
@@FigaroHey Thank you, Figaro, for stating the case for watching so clearly. People who complain the episodes are old drive me nuts. The Land Registry as well as sites like rightmove provide information on property prices for those who are that bothered about pound amounts. I watch this show because the hosts are amusing and the properties interesting...regardless of the price.
