I have always loved their relationship, she wanted a new start and Daniel didn’t want to move but he did it to make her happy. Makes him a marvelous son.
I gotta give credit to Lucille. Being able to assert herself as a parent, but lets Daniel put the anger and frustration he's feeling into words and willing to listen without being dismissive of how he felt. Even admitting that she should've talked it over with Daniel about moving to California first.
It's truly amazing that everything from 1:14 to 2:36 was all done in one shot! The filmmaking of this movie is just so underappreciated (it's not even appreciated by people who have recently become fans with Cobra Kai).
Never appreciated good acting by younger actors when i was younger. Miyagi may be immortalized, but Daniel San played his part very well. Props to Ralph M!

It is strange to think that he was the same age as Eddie Murphy was when he played Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop, which was released in the same year as the Karate Kid. I mean, Eddie Murphy is just as ageless as Ralph Macchio, but at least he still looked his age back in the day (which was 23). As for Ralph, even in his younger years, he never actually looked his chronological age (which is very likely due to delayed puberty). Even Tom Cruise, another ageless celebrity and also around the same age as Macchio, looked his age back in the 1980s and 1990s.

My bullying wasn’t usually physical, I don’t remember being beat up, but I got more than my fair share of name calling and verbal harassment, so much so my mom pulled me out of one school and put me into another. I was bullied more in middle school than high school, in high school I was largely ignored. I actually took Karate myself and got a black belt in 1997, one of my greatest achievements.
I recognize my self when i was 14,15,16,17 years old.... i trained Kyokushin Kai Karate when i was a teenager. There were bullies in my dojo who bullied me. When i go home i always felt like this inside my self.
Johnny conveniently fails to mention this in Corbra Kai. This incident alone negates the theory Daniel is the bully. After the beach fight Daniel just wanted to be a left alone but Johnny took it to a whole new level with this.

I know that feeling all too well. I was forced to move 700 miles away from my hometown when I was barely 20 because my mom wanted to move back to her hometown, and I had nowhere else to go. That was 26 years ago, and I'm still homesick to this day. I didn't know my way back, and I didn't even know that gps existed until 2007, and of course, I went out and bought one. Right after that, my then step-dad sabotaged my truck by putting something in the gas tank to clog up the fuel pump to keep me from leaving. Even after getting a new pump, my truck hadn't been the same since, so I had to spend years saving up for a new car, and during those years saving up, my gps went missing as well. Then, in 2014, I finally saved up for a new car. Then, I had to spend several more years saving up for a house. Just when I finally saved up enough, a woman that I barely knew had the same type of car as mine, except hers was decades older and on its last legs. When her car stopped working, she called the tow truck guy and didn't say the year of her vehicle or her address, and he mistakenly believed that she lived with me, so he came over to my house and mistook my car for hers. I was dead asleep and completely oblivious. My car was locked, and since he thought my car was hers, he thought it was already broken, so he dragged it without putting it into neutral, and that messed everything up. The woman moved out of the state the very next morning because she knew I could press charges, and I WOULD have, too! Needless to say, now I'm stuck here even longer! 😒
Everything that happened to Daniel (per the script) was 100% his own doing, but the movie cleverly deceived much of the audience into thinking he's the sympathetic hero. The mass media uses a similar tactic on those who can't think for themselves with devastating efficiency and effectiveness.

Lucille is hands down the most annoying character of the whole saga. To think that people hate on: Kenny, Kyler, Anthony, and Sam (although i do understand the Kyler and Sam hate, Sam ocassionaly). The worst characters are: Lucille, Kyler, Tory's aunt, and David (the bully from the diner).
