Thanks Ian you honour me greatly. My most recent employment was as a cabinet maker and the last item was built by me specifically to hold the Raaco trays enjoy. Each time you take one out 'feel the quality' ???
What an extremely kind gesture from Richard and I am so sorry to hear of his poor health. It's a great collection of parts and test gear probably amassed over decades, and it has gone to an excellent new home indeed.
Richard: Must have really been hard to give this all up but an amazing thing you did. Too many workshops of all sorts just disappear when the owners that loved them and built them can no longer use them. You gave yours a good 2nd life. Well done. I hope you get to enjoy them vicariously for a long time yet through Ian.
What a generous guy Richard is. Many people, even when they're no longer able to use their workshop keep it as they can't bare to part with it. To donate it to someone like Ian is the best thing to do because you can guarantee he'll make the best possible use of it and share his experience with us.
So many people do that and then it ends up in the garbage because whoever inherits thinks it has no value or has no time to get it to an appropriate place. I've heard that swedes have an end-of-life tradition of getting rid of stuff before they go so that there's less work needed after the fact. I wonder if other cultures have such a thing...
For some reason I got most excited when I saw the two art of electronics books. I've been wanting one of those. Just hard to shell out that much on a book for something I mostly tinker with in my spare time. Nice haul.
Not really noticeable in the video but the hoard of electrolytic caps I now have is huge, including tons of axial ones. Nichicon, Epcos, Sprague and vintage MUO.
It is lovely when our subs reach out and support the channel. Enjoy your gifts I’m sure like me, your audience greatly appreciate your videos and very high standards and excellent technical content. Keep up the good work. Sorry I haven’t commented on many of your videos I’m trying to spend less time online but be assured I’m a big fan. My best regards Chris
Wow, what a friendly and incredibly generous donation by Richard. Amidst all the insanity and barbarism going on everywhere there are some very, very good people left.
Someone gave me cabinets of components, but it was too hard to find stuff so I catalogued them all so I can quickly find if I had the part on the list. The problem was that it took ages to catalogue - ouch! -.
I've worked on my ZD-915 a bit, upgrading the output caps in the power supply and adding a Tusotek DC-DC converter to replace the dropping resistors. I'll add a pump relay later on. The only issue I've had with mine is occasional hard clogging of the barrel, requiring me to use a tight fitting aircraft length drill to drill it out.
Will you be selling any of the stuff that you definitely won't need. Were there any AMD K6 socket 7 CPUs in the box of CPUs? Im currently working on a socket 7 motherboard.
"little follow up video" - 20min Maybe you'd be able to make a "open design" DIY project using a smattering of those parts? Nice filtered linear adjustable supply, or a simple test equipment, etc, using the resistors, an enclosure, connectors etc.

19:20 wow, i wish i had the skill and space to make a cabinet like that. That looks absolutely SOLID. Quality indeed!
@@simontay4851 Thanks Simon it was a bit OTT but it was what I did & now it will live on
Very generous Richard! 465 would be worth the whole lot!

I think Ian deserves it all for the entertainment value of his videos I have a terminal illness and can no longer use any of it
Seeing Richard's treasured items brought tears to my eyes.
Going through the stuff here at home it’s kinda weird, there’s probably a story in every single item…….I am truly humbled by it all.

You can only be bare if you part with your clothes. 😉
😂

Reminds me when a certain someone sent me “a few” capacitors, took me a week to organise them 🤓

What a time to be alive...
Good to see Richard's workshop has gone to a good home. I think he will get enjoyment seeing it get a second life. Cheers Dave.
Thanks Dave I will
Wow fantastic amount of good equipment, what a generous donation from Richard, I am sure it will all be put to good use 🙂
WOW, that is _amazingly_ generous! Must be several hundreds of pounds worth of stuff, at least!
Christmas in June... You're a kid in a candy store! Nice of him...

I’ve got a fluke 45 in my other lab, dual display was why I got it.
oh wow! this is a whole lab👍

Richard...what a guy, must have been extremely difficult to let all your collection go, hope your health improves, my thoughts are with you 🙂🏴
Great news! Christmas came early. 🎉

Great inheritance.
You can't beat good old analogue scopes when you have noisy signals in my opinion.
Even _more_ XLRs. How many does one need! Must be hundreds.
That 2430 has rifa caps buried in its power supply, ask me how I know LOL
A lot of junk in there too, hope you have plenty of space in the workshop?!
Damn, I want that Raaco storage unit...
It is nice isn't it!, I am looking forward to installing it in my workshop.

The first few I looked at are Xeon processors.
There is 1off AMD-K6-2/500AFX, 2.2V Core, 3.3V I/O. Contact me via my webpage.
I wonder who he mixed for?
Local bands at outdoor events
Thats some treasurre hoard, lucky git

Instead to scrap it he sent to you. I can flood you with that stuff if you want...
combined itsd more than 1KPound/
Time to put your orgianisanal
Asking for free stuff to fill the workshop? That's RUDE!!!
You don’t understand. Please do some research before spouting such rubbish.
