Two quick notes!!! 1. Okay so the dialogue leveller isn't new 😂 Its been there for ages!! But I got so caught up in the audio features I totally forgot. Buuuut it's still worth talking about so I'll leave it in the video. Sorry for the confusion! 2. I edited this video in 19 and it was mostly all good! I had the occasion weird slow down, but quick restart of Resolve and it was okay. I've been screen grabbing and editing for about 8 straight hours though so not too bad. Maybe just my PC being weird. Figured it was worth a quick mention though :)
They have also done something I have wanted for ages. You can now edit the subtitles in the viewer in the same way as you can edit titles. This is going to be so much better than having to go across to the small text in the inspector to make a chnge.
Oh wow good to know. Have you had any issues with the ai not picking up all of your dialogue? I create really long videos (2-8hrs) for my other channel and for some reason the ai never picks up on certain dialogue and says that it’s silence. Why in the world is it doing that?? And it will get words that were spoken clearly completely wrong or not add them at all. This makes editing go a lot long than it should.
@@LifeOfViette Yes I don’t think that the transcription/subtitles are as good as it was when the option was first released. I use it one a month for a series of programmes and the presenter is the same they were recorded in the same studio with the same equipment and by the same crew for TV and it often now really makes a mess of the subtitles. Having though in the past tried to point things out that are wrong with DaVinci and ended up hitting my head against a brick wall I decided to live with the problem. Now though being able to correct the subtitles in the viewer will be a great help to me.

Hey Alex, just wanted to jump on right after you posted so you'll see this. I've bought both of your products and they are absolutely fantastic. And I'm a noob at editing. I'm a 24 year member of the WGA, however, and achieving my vision of my company simply would not have been possible without me spending tens of thousands on an editor - not to mention dealing with the frustration of making sure they understand what I want. Now I simply envision it (as a professional writer that's the easy part) and then I simply "make it so" with Davinci and your help. Thanks brother from LA!
@@MrAlexTech no small way about it. If you've ever questioned if you should be doing what you're doing, don't. You're having a positive impact on the world, in your own way, so good on you from a fellow Brit in LA.
Here is my wish for the next upgrade. Stop using "Remove" and "Delete" interchangeably. Pick one of these and stick with it ! Gets frustrating when I need to remember which one to look for depending on what sub menu I happen to be in ?
8:40 This is on Par with FL studio's integration of using AI to split instruments and vocals, i've been using the free version of Resolve forever but this might just get me to buy the studio version.
That H.264/H.265 decoding update is insane! Finally my playback will stop chugging along no matter how little of a project I am working on. The IntelliTrack is definitely an amazing tool as well, so I am very confident in Davinci Resolve 19. Great coverage as always Alex!
I tested the Matrix template included in Resolve, it's pretty smooth now, with all the Fusion optimization. It's not real-time, but they really worked on optimizing Fusion. This template is pretty much my go-to benchmark lol. I remember testing it many years ago, it was extremely slow. Not many people know that there are very cool Fusion templates included in Resolve to learn from.
I'm glad we're finally getting a better tracking because the standard tracking when trying to do any kind of like subtitles on characters of video games that are really dark colors is a lot harder than something. with bright colors.
Hey Alex! We really appreciate your tutorials! We are busy guys so we don’t have hours and hours to sit down and study video editing. We kind of learn on the fly. so, it is always great to be able to check in with you, see some new tricky tricks, and then try them out in the next video! Thank you very much mate!

So excited for Davinci Resolve 20 Beta 1! Maybe they'll let us put timelines and fusion compositions in powerbins, or pick our own track or marker colors.
I just make the switch from PP and I’m so impressed with the amount of features on Davinci specially on this news version, music remixer is insane! No regrets after being on a subscription for couple years.
Yesss! I don’t download betas so I am super excited to get home and see all these new features! The Color slice and the film look creator seem to be the coolest for me but I can’t wait to try! Yayyy
Thank MrAlexTech for this news on Davinci Resolve 19. The BEST thing about this video is you edited this video with Davinic Resolve 19 proving it works well.
Wow! The performance improvement is huge. At least for me... The scrubbing is 100% fluent now with Nikon nraw 8k 60p clips on my windows laptop with nvidia rtx gpu. It was not that bad before, but it wasn't 100% smooth.
Its 3am in Australia and I have been waiting for this video from you Mr Alex. Now I can sleep 😂 Decided to wait for the nod from you and finish one last project in 18.6 before clicking update.
Thanks for highlighting everything in this epic update! I’ve been anticipating the Music Remixer since they announced it and it’s everything they promised! The Stinger Transitions are great too. Thanks for this video, Alex.
Just updated the beta a couple of days ago, saw the thumbnail, fired up resolve and updated and now I can watch while I download and install. Thanks Alex!!
On a tangent, OBS has a new hybrid MP4 format that is more reliable and supports the live insertion of chapter markers that will automatically appear in Resolve.
Plenty of new stuff, I like more new transitions, titles and effects. But absolute winner for me is the acceleration in the free version. I can't measure it, but I can feel it! Editing is so much better in 19.
Great Vid, thanks Alex! Im still missing making subtitles from one scene that i have allready editt on the E-page. I have only the option to create subtitles from the whole media-file/s.
Thanks Alex, a great insight into DVR 19. But, there's a gotcha with the new..ish audio stuff such as Voice Isolation, Dialogue Leveller and Music Remixer. I have some old Panasonic video from 12 years ago that used 6 channels of mono audio. These imported into Resolve 19 with no problem but, when I came to use some of the filters such as the music remixer, the options to use them in the Inspector had disappeared. It's because those effects won't work on multiple linked audio channels. You need to unlink the audio channels and either work on them individually or relink the one channel you want to work on back onto the video track. Alternatively, choose 2 tracks and combine them into a stereo track then relink. Either way you get the new audio stuff back in the Inspector.
Excellent. I'm about to take delivery of the speed editor with the studio version as I've been using the free version for the last 8 months so excited to get 19 studio. Thanks for the info Alex
That music remixer makes me tingle! lol, I really wish we could use resolve as a DAW and NLE, enable AU, VSTs and Midi input controls all within fairlight and off to the races.
There is also something big i always wished for you didn’t mention. Now Open FX effects support bezier keyframes controls. Previously you couldn’t make smooth animation with those, for example transform effect with shutter blur is very handy now is completely usable directly from edit page
Banger! Thanks for keeping us updated Alex! I would LOVE for Davinci to let us MOVE panels and expand them. I have a 3 monitor setup. This would be a game changer for me and thousdands of others!
Great video as always brother. Excited about this version. Clutch feature that might've slipped your radar - ability to hide subtitles from the timeline viewing options! Subtle, but so clutch to not have the subtitle section taking up valuable real estate. Also pretty annoying for me at least how much it moved when I'd change the sizing of the video/audio divider in cut page. The ability to now hide this when not needed is super underrated imo
Thanks for the video, it's very informative and I'm so glad that some new features have been added to the free version. I do intend on getting the studio version as soon as I can especially to get some use from my RTX 4070 in my OLED 16 Proart Studiobook
