what I really love about Pixar movies is that in almost all of them, the main character never gets what they wanted in the end, but instead, they get what they need(which sometimes is the opposite of what they were looking for) In cars, McQueen becomes happier when he is able to slow down in life and enjoy it and not winning piston cup. In monsters inc sully and mike find out, they gain more from making kids laugh than from scaring them. Joy is able to make Riley grow and be happy again by accepting sadness. In Coco, Miguel understands that his family is more important than becoming famous. And Woody finds a friend in Buzz instead of an enemy. And I think that's what it touches our hearts the most. We are so focused following our dreams and wishes that sometimes we miss the most important things in life.

When you mentioned the 22 rules, I guess you were referring to the 22 steps by John Truby. This book has help me a lot to deeply understand the story in each kind of movies. I would also add, as john truby said, that an opponent does not always need to be the antagonist or evil. "A true opponent not only wants to prevent the hero from achieving his desire but is competing with the hero for the same goal" Joy's unawareness of the need of sadness and others in riley's life, therefore, should be seen as her weakness instead. Sadness, joy's buddy, is actually the true oppponent as it leads the story to the self-revelation.
Xoreign I mean. Have you seen some movies’ sequels? Somehow toy story managed three good sequels (jk I know how it’s because they aren’t just hounding for money, they also want to write a good story), but a LOT of sequels just are just for scraping the rest of that good good box office money out of our wallets, so they end up lazily written lmao
@@huh.2 Right. But the idea of expanding on a world is not inherently wrong. Business wise, sure,, they usually exist for money. But the fact that good sequels exist show that just because a sequel exists, doesn't mean it's bad. There's always more story to tell, even if it doesn't seem so.
Tip: see it in 3D, imax, or very late at night. Some ignorant moms will bring their babies into the theatre who cry over the audio of the film and completely shatter the experience.
I thought Inside-out was ingenious. One thing that I noticed was that Joy did not get her own color, while all the other emotions did. She is a mixture of sadness (blue hair) and disgust (green dress). They did this because Joy is not a reactionary emotion like the others. Joy is a choice despite the others. You can be sad, and joyful. And realizing this marks a level of emotional maturity that Inside-out captures well.

They're mostly hit and miss for me. I wonder how they'll be without John Lasseter. I'd love to see a breakdown classic Disney's formula for making perfect films from Snow White to The Jungle Book
Pete Docter is really great, with classics like Monsters Inc. and Up under his resume. Let's not forget it was Lasseter who directed Cars 2, the studio's biggest dud. And I wouldn't credit Disney for all of Pixar's efforts; if it ain't for strict quality control from Pixar via Steve Jobs, Michael Eisner would've taken away the rights and produced shitty direct to video sequels using an incompetent studio.
Its quite a feat that Pixar has never made a bad film. While not all are 10/10's, even at their lowest, they are still decent films and thats just amazing

I would also add, as john truby said, that an opponent does not always need to be the antagonist or evil.
"A true opponent not only wants to prevent the hero from achieving his desire but is competing with the hero for the same goal"
Joy's unawareness of the need of sadness and others in riley's life, therefore, should be seen as her weakness instead. Sadness, joy's buddy, is actually the true oppponent as it leads the story to the self-revelation.
7:58 when sully presses the button it says "FIZT" which is the software Pixar used to develop sullys hair
Just watched toy story 4 and I cried
SEQUELS AREN’T SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD why would they do this to me
@@huh.2 ???
@@huh.2 Some of the best movies of all time are sequels. There is nothing inherently wrong with sequels.
I binge-watched all pixar classics recently. I'd highly advise it.
What an incredible video!! Congrats insider ♥️🎉🎉
Watching this after watching Toy Story 4, dude...
Same
No spoilers please, but is Toy Story 4 emotional? Did it made you shed a tear?
@@wallowsdrumsticks6934 yes yes yes
Blade of Despair Omg. I’m looking forward on watching it 😍
Tip: see it in 3D, imax, or very late at night.
Well insider can I ask you something is avengers engame
re-realeasing again with new surprises edited: to beat Avitar ???
Ella Armani yes
Av "I" tar😂😂😂😂😂😂
Greatest animation studio ever!
thanks you just lit up my spirit to continue learning 3d art and animation
Thanks for the advice it will be very helpful for when I animate my own cartoons when I'm older
“All of it’s films are a technological marvels”
So Cars 2 is a “marvel”
Yup
I just watched Toy Story 4 man. You're making me cry more.
Whan ever I'm not feeling happy I'm just gonna watch this.
You’d think this video would have way more view like around 2.1 million views bc this is good
This is such a wonderful video! I am going to implement every one of these points into my own novels. Thank you so much Insider for this! I got so many notes from it!!!
I think every single writer should see this video, whether or not they like Pixar. I'm definitely sharing it with all of my writer friends.
They're mostly hit and miss for me. I wonder how they'll be without John Lasseter. I'd love to see a breakdown classic Disney's formula for making perfect films from Snow White to The Jungle Book
Monsters Inc. and Inside Out show me they’re in good hands with Pete Docter.
Up to Jungle Book? What about the Renaissance movies
@@UltimateKyuubiFox and
Now watching Soul
I think Pixar is in a good hand
i just cant!!!! they improved so much 😍😍😍😍
Is this why I can’t get through a Pixar movie without crying
This is the only insider video that felt real, and human and useful. Do more stuff like this.
That ending of Toy Story 3 always gets me
I never realised just how many of my favorite animated movies Pixar has made.
I wish Insider actually had more good videos like these
Toy story 3 ending made me cry, Up story made me cry, Wall E's character made me cry.....PIXAR makes me so happy that I cry
Loves all the movies here. Always looking forward to the next Pixar 🎥
Its quite a feat that Pixar has never made a bad film. While not all are 10/10's, even at their lowest, they are still decent films and thats just amazing
"The formula of pixars perfect story telling"
Cars 2 enters the chat
That was amazing 😍 I also want to add that even it animated characters so of them really relatable. And childhood memories is awesome 😂 bravo Pixar ❤
Im 18 and I grew up watching Pixar, now im studying 3d Art. Live changes so fast
Toy Story 3 was the end of their Golden Era for me. Their stories have suffered since.
*Before Toy Story 3* we had: *Up* , *Wall-E* , *Ratatouille* .
*After Toy Story 3* we had: Cars 2, Brave, Monsters University.
naaaaaaaah. it aint the worst tho. cars 2 is.
Why do pixar movies always make you cry? Thanks for answering my questions.
Pixar is one of the few things that really makes my exterior crumble
My eyes. Automatically watering at every frame of Toy Story 3 🥲🥲
The narrators voice is so gentle and calm. ☺️👍
Literally just watching little clips of these movies with no sound made me cry so yeah Pixar can tell a damn good story
9:09 Rex waving at Andy
Pause it at around 1:08 or 1:09 you'll see something hilariously savage in the background🤣
Freaking hell😂
Pixar: "We make perfect films"
Cars 2 and Planes: "Im about to ruin this mans whole career"
Cars and, by extension, Planes merely exist so Pixar can shovel in a budget for better stuff
Planes is of Disney not Pixar
This storytelling content is from Pixar In A Box course on the Khan Academy
Pixar has explained their entire pipeline beautifully in it, storytelling, animation, lighting, simulation everything explained by Pixar in the best possible way
My dream is to work at Pixar, writing some awesome stories... I'm probably not good enough tho...
@@kalilantrip927 Thanks bro, it means a lot! I've grown up with Pixar movies, so if sometime in the future I can work in at least one and be a part of their legacy, it would be truly awesome!
Totally agree with you, I just hate how there are people look down on these movies, simply because it is disney or pixar
Inside out - the best Pixar film ever.
The ending to toy story 3 will forever make me cry because I see it as my childhood ending, Andy was going to college and at that time I was going to college too, I still want to see toy story 4 because now I have kids to share the experience with and I see it as a new beginning of me being a parent.
dude you made me cry
Pixar: Ahh, Me formula
Did the narrator of the video work at Pixar? Informative video and it even reminded me of a story in itself. Nice work. 😊
Illumination, take notes!
You know the Pixar essay is good when it makes you cry just like their movies.
Pixar: The greatest movie studio of all time.
Convince me otherwise.
I'm crying again because of 8:23
*looks at title*
*looks at Cars 2 DVD*

PalmTreePetrus Planes series also.
@@superspies32 Planes was based in the Cars Universe, but it was animated by Walt Disney Animation. Pixar did the original Cars Series.
